Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Fox and the Wolf. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own Seton Academy, Bungo, Cygames and a few others do.
Both Nova and Ferryl glared at the other from across the couch while they sighed as both started to think. Their parents and younger siblings started to talk to each other.
"Hmm…" Nova while humming and then started to think about what happened to this deal his parents had created. "Mother, what exactly is going on?" Nova questioned to his parents while he looked to his father.
"Should I point out the deal, or should you?" Nova heard from Ferryl's mother to which he sighed, lowering his head to look towards the ground.
He knew this was just the start of a long and awkward talk between the duo. Neither really considered this more than a deal between them, this was something that neither had really considered at the end of the day.
"The deal is both you and my daughter will be placed together with the possibility of romantic intentions." Ferryl's father put in which caused Ferryl to look at the ground as well.
Both knew their parents wanted them wed, not simply because they enjoyed the idea. Both families wanted the feud which had been a war long ago to cease. This was the best way they saw to end said feud before it led to any nasty side effects to begin with.
Still? Both sets of parents were well aware their children had issues with this as neither had much attraction to the other. Ferryl's family allowed her to dual Nova, knowing the fox rather enjoyed the duels between them as the fights gave him someone as strong as him at the end of the day.
"Mother? I have known Nova for little over 2 months." Ferryl added, pointing a long-clawed finger towards Nova who simply rolled his eyes at this.
"Yes, and I've barely learned anything about Ferryl other than she's a gang leader. "Nova added to which he got a glare from the woman in question. "Don't deny it, I know you have people in your group. You've been about as well-known at school as your family is in society." Nova added, rubbing at his temples as he sighed and leaned back in the chair, unsure what to really say at this moment.
"And yet you still enjoy her company, son." His father stated, turning to the fox who shrugged, giving a small nod as he rubbed at his temples a moment later. "You enjoy her company, yes? It does not bug you for one reason or another?" His father added to which got a small shake of the head.
"If it did? I would be speaking up on it more freely. I do not, because I still support our family through thick and thin." Nova added, rubbing at his eyes a few moments later. "Plus? I do not consider Ferryl a bad person, merely that this deal will not be the same way you believe it to be to begin with. There are plenty of things I question about this. I simply maintained the desire to hold my tongue if allowed to." Nova added, rubbing at his eyes as he did so.
"You haven't held your tongue one of the many times we've clashed." Ferryl added, a small smirk tugging at her lips as Nova shrugged, smirking as well.
"Because you loved to talk as much as you loved to fight." Nova responded, pointing a finger at her. "If I was anything like how I was now? I would have taken advantage of that and outfought you. You enjoy combat like I enjoy snarking and constantly attending these family meetings all the time." Nova added, pondering what his parents would say when this is done and over with.
Then again? When was this really something he understood well? He couldn't begin to imagine what would happen if she was given the ability to decide things at the moment, this day would be rather momentous for his family and perhaps hers.
"Do we have an accord?" Nova heard from Ferryl's father, causing him to roll his eyes at this as he thought about how this could affect their families. "You want this feud over with as much as we do. It does not reflect well to have both of our children brawling like hoodlums." Ferryl's mother added as Nova closed his eyes and began to think about his next move.
'Yes, because it isn't like your daughter and I have constantly had issues and now you're using it as an excuse.' Nova thought to himself, rolling his eyes mentally once more.
"Nova, please pay attention. This affects you majorly." Nova heard from his father as he turned to him.
"I'm sorry, father. I just wanted to reflect on the rest of the day and such." Nova stated, setting his hands on his lap as he brushed off his shirt. "There's many details to discuss which you haven't exactly explained to either of us." Nova added, cracking a smirk at Ferryl as the two looked at each other, both of their wounds from the past were still raw.
It didn't make either of them curious considering just how little things like this seemed to matter…. He supposed they really didn't if he was honest with himself at the end of the day.
"The ability for you to be like this does not make you better than everyone else." Ferryl added to which Nova raised an eyebrow, completely caught off by this for a moment, a brief second of time as of currently.
He quickly regained it a few minutes later, rolling his eyes once more.
"Should I remind you just what this means for our families and their reputations, Ferryl?" Nova questioned, raisin his eyebrow in question at this. "If it was so easy to really change overnight? Then why do you continue to treat this like a meeting and such at the moment." Nova added, crossing his arms with a smirk pulling at his lips and then started to think at the time.
Nova watched Ferryl growl, her lips pursing into a show of fangs as she looked at him with unhidden distain. The fact that he managed to get one over on her verbally was a low blow in her book, but it was still a blow regardless of how she felt. She couldn't let it go unopposed, she wouldn't in the future, for the time wasn't right.
"Perhaps we should discuss details where our children cannot be disturbed by them?" Nova heard from his parents and hers as both started to walk into the next room.
Nova and Ferryl were left with both glares at each other of undisturbed anger.
