Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Fox and the Wolf. Enjoy the 1500-word chapter. I don't own Seton Academy, Bungo, Cygames and a few others do.

Sometimes? Nova could only question the inner logic of Ferryl's mind. She was smart, she was cunning…. And yet sometimes? He couldn't understand her mind. What went on within it?

"Do you think our family planned this out before?" Nova questioned, raising an eyebrow as he did so. "They didn't seem all that surprised." Nova stated while Ferryl stood next to him.

"Perhaps," Ferryl responded. "I am rather curious, though. They did seem to place great importance on it. Why do you assume this was their answer?" Ferryl asked a moment later.

"I doubt they'd tell us," Nova stated, shrugging his shoulders. "But I'm sure we will find out eventually. My parents aren't ones to hide their intentions. They know I'm rather open with my opinions." Nova added, putting a hand to his temples.

"And if this was set up?" Ferryl questioned, gazing out the window. "I do not hate it. I merely do not understand it. They have high expectations of my family. I question every day if I live up to them." Ferryl stated, watching Nova hum and nod.

"I don't know how family works in your book, no offense." Nova said, shaking his head. "Do you want me to point out something? I know your family has some very amusing social standards." Nova stated, pausing to let out a yawn.

"They do, but they aren't as extreme as you might think of them." Ferryl said, pausing to let out a yawn. "My apologizes. I have been quite exhausted. There has been a lot on my mind as of late, so much to consider honestly." Ferryl added which garnered a chuckle.

Ferryl glared for a moment before claiming herself. She knew Nova was a lot less formal than her. It didn't surprise her, but it was something she had to learn to deal with. He was quite a handful in her mind.

"Do you want me to think about the next move?" Nova stated while he cracked his fingers. "I do plan on talking to my father. He has a great more detail to discuss when it comes down to it." Nova added, rubbing at his temples.

"And I have to explain my mother's logic." Ferryl stated while she sighed, hanging her head. "I do want to figure out her designs for the future. There's plenty of work to discuss with her… Plus I must speak to my sister, assure her of this." Ferryl put in while she smirked.

"Perhaps, but I doubt she'd understand," Nova stated to herself. "I do want to tell my brother. However? I want to point out they might not be as detailed as you think." Nova added while rubbing at the bridge of his nose.

The duo clicked their fingers together. Both were quite curious at this, they were warriors. They were also major parts of their family. Nova knew for a fact that Ferryl was quite focused on the future. She was a very dedicated and serious woman.

"Do you want to point out how off guard this caught us?" Nova heard from Ferryl. "We weren't ready for this. They knew we wouldn't really understand it." Nova added, watching as the wolf woman nodded.

"You're a quite silly for a war and clan heir." Ferryl added then she cracked her neck. "Then again? My sister is unsure of what was such a big deal." Ferryl added to which Nova chuckled.

"Their kids, we're teenagers." Nova stated, tapping a finger on the glass in front of him. "Don't be so surprised their so different. We're quite interested in the future. You constantly think what happened next." Nova stated while he shook his head.

"Oy," Nova heard from Ferryl. "I do not know what my sibling thinks. We need to have faith in the end," Nova put in, clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth.

"I do not know what the next move is." Ferryl added while she rubbed at her temples. "However? I do know this was quite fun," Ferryl put in, turning to the window.

The fox demi human hummed, he knew her enough to know that she was plotting something.

"You're not very sneaky when it comes to fighting dirty, you know." Nova put in, turning with mirth in his tone. "Do you think it's easy being like this? It really isn't…. Also? Fun? I think that's an interesting way to think of it. I don't think I've ever heard that word from you." Nova stated, a small smirk pulling his lips apart.

He felt a sharp pain in his ribs as Ferryl felt a vein budge in her face, she knew that her friend was needling her. Nova snarks matched his strength. He was as cunning as her. Still? She supposed there was something to be found in that.

"Your wit is matched only by the annoyance you create." Nova heard from Ferryl. "Do you plan on being a nuisance even after this arrangement?" Ferryl questioned before Nova shrugged.

"I don't know, do you intend to think so lowly of others?" Nova questioned, his eyes narrowing. "I know wolves are territorial, but you hate more people than possible. You think making people seem pathetic makes them weak. Tell me, how does ganging up on someone make them seem weaker? How does it feel?" Nova added to which the wolf demi human was silent.

He sighed, more annoyed than anything. He supposed he couldn't let that define their future, but it did still annoy him. She had the potential to be better than this and she didn't take responsibility for her actions. It frustrated him more than anything, however.

"I suppose we both have plenty of issues, don't we? But yes, I can understand that well enough." Ferryl put in before she let out a sigh. "My clan expects a lot of me, they don't expect weakness. If I cannot prove myself to them? They make sure to remind me that I can easily be seen as weaker around them. It is not something I enjoy, but I know what is expected of me." Ferryl put in which caused her to nod to herself.

"They expect you to hurt those not your equal?" Nova questioned. "Your family is not what I expected at all then. My family doesn't want that, my family wants me to marry someone my equal." Nova added, pausing to rub at the bridge of his nose.

"Plenty of people seem to expect us to love." Ferryl put in to which Nova nodded. "Based solely upon THEIR expectations and not our own feelings. It is quite vexing, isn't it?" Ferryl questioned as Nova hummed

"Yeah, almost makes you want to scream, does it not?" Nova asked, watching as Ferryl nodded. "You know, I don't snark JUST because I like doing it. You've never seen someone crack a joke to let the pressure out or break tension?" Nova questioned, earning a hum from his friend as he did so.

"I've seen plenty of people crack jokes when their annoyed or such." Ferryl put in as Nova waved his hand bac and forth. "I'm joking. It is nice to see your sarcasm turned on you. I will admit, I can be much too serious when it comes to such things. I often forget that my sister isn't used to my type of temper and attitude, it isn't easy making it so different a personality when it comes down to it." Ferryl added more to herself then him.

"Oy, your something else sometimes, Ferryl." Nova said before he leaned on the wall.

He waited for the silence to leave; the duo had been left to their own devices for quite a while. It didn't match his families' behavior, nor hers. They always made sure the duo spent time together, probably because it helped sell the idea, they'd be married one day. It was a very interesting maneuver for them, but then again? She was quite aware of it, and so was he.

"I don't like how our families are at times, Ferryl." Nova put in before brushing off his shirt. "I don't know what they plan to do. I do know I'm not going to let them do anything. They can make us a pair, but they can't force romance to just burst from the air." Nova said while rubbing at his eyes.

He knew that she was eager to say something besides this empty talk. The silence itself felt like it said more than either had so far. Had his family so little understanding of feelings? He suspected so given this moment so much.
