As soon as they return to the Headquarters, Chris immediately dedicates herself to filling out the paperwork for the operation they have just done. She could very well have completed her assignment later in the day, but what she wants right now is to just focus on her work, not thinking about the conversation she would have with Hondo sooner or later about her and Street.

Nobody asks her questions or distracts her. Everyone knows that Chris is very dedicated to her work, but in reality no one, except Street, is aware of the real reason why she is acting like that.

Street observes her in the distance, she is still a little sore on her chest from the fight she had with that criminal a few hours earlier. He has no intention of approaching her, he knows perfectly well that it would have irritated her a lot. Street knows with certainty that in that moment Chris needs space, he needs to be alone to be able to process the whole situation.

On the other hand, however, Street wants to distract her from those thoughts, worries that are wearing her down. Think, for a few minutes, about what could make her relax, what they could do together without arousing suspicion in their colleagues, and that Chris would have liked a lot.

He takes the phone from his pocket and sends her a message.

"Do you want a challenge at the shooting range? Pizza and beer paid for a week to the winner. What do you say?"

Chris immediately grabs the phone, smiles almost imperceptibly, looks up, which she had had for more than an hour turned towards those papers, looking for Street. He has no doubt that he was watching her. She finds it, and beckons them to follow her to the armory. She accepted her challenge, in fact Chris has never turned down an invitation to train since joining Swat.

"Nice excuse to get up from that desk." Chris tells Street as soon as he walks in the door.

"I'm seriously worried about your power to read my mind" Street answers visibly surprised and ironic. Chris laughs "You're too obvious Street, I knew you'd be worried about me. Besides, you always do it, and I'm starting to get used to it " she takes the ammunition and weapons for both of us. Street is still with his arms crossed and watching her as he walks to the shooting room.

As Chris is about to open the door, he looks at Street provocatively and says "are you going to stare at me for a long time or can we start this challenge?" this is the first time Chris has intentionally flirted with Street.

He smiles at her, sensing her provocative intentions, and enters the room "you're putting a strain on my self-control Alonso," he tells her as he takes his kit and positions himself at the shooting stand next to Chris.

"Long Beach you haven't seen anything yet!" she says leaning towards him, without getting very close. "I would say that the stakes must be better than a week of paid pizza and beer" he looks at him more intensely and continues "for a week, whoever loses, has no say in everything that will happen out of here"

"Very tempting proposal" replies Street, "I accept very gladly"

They get ready and start the challenge. At the end of the first hitting session, Street puts his hand to his chest, the bruises he had were causing them more pain than expected.

Chris realizes that there is something wrong with him "Street, are you okay?" he does not answer, he is really short of air, "raise your shirt," she approaches and looks at Street's chest with amazement and concern.

"Oh my God Street" are the only words he can utter.

Chris leaves the room, and after a few seconds comes back with Nora Fowler.

"His chest is completely bruised," she tells her colleague. Street is in pain, but he doesn't want to worry her. "I'm fine Chris, it's nothing, just a few bruises" she doesn't calculate his, her attention is all on Nora.

"Ok Street, can you lie down on that bench?" Nora asks him "yes, okay" he replies as he rolls his eyes.

He examines him in depth for a few minutes and then turns to Chris "the abdomen is treatable, I exclude significant internal bleeding, certainly he has cracked ribs pressing on his left lung, because I hear reduced breathing sounds" Nora stops for a second, has noticed Chris's face bleached "it's not serious, but we have to transport him to the hospital, he may have a pneumothorax"

"I'm fine, it's nothing," Street continues

Neither woman listens to him. "Okay, I warn Hondo, and we'll arrange an emergency transport" organizes Chris.

"Nora, it's okay, they're just bruises," Street continues. "Street, as much as you want to minimize the symptoms with Chris so as not to make her worry, I stick to the facts" Nora replies "and then, if something serious happens to you, I certainly wouldn't want to deal with Chris's anger" the girl continues to ease the tension.

"Right, better not contradict her," Street replies with a slight smile, now he is aware of Chris's feelings, and he too would be in the same condition as him.

"Hondo," Chris calls the team leader who is intent on filling out some paperwork "tell me Chris" replies the man. "Street is not well, I called Fowler to see him, and he said he needs to be taken to the hospital." When he says these words, Chris feels overwhelmed with total fear, fear of losing him.

Hondo looks at her worried, "ok Chris, where are you now?" "Come" he tells him as he goes towards the polygon.

"eih Street!" says Hondo "Hondo, it's okay, only Chris is very worried" "shut up Jim," Chris contradicts him "what are his conditions?" Hondo asks Nora "stable at the moment, needs more detailed examinations" replies the woman

"Ok, load him on a stretcher, I'll prepare the helicopter for transport and alert the hospital"

"Ok" answer the two women together. "I'm going to get the stretcher," Nora says and comes out of the verse.

"Chris, don't worry, it's nothing" "Jim, don't be stupid," he takes his hand and looks into his eyes "after you are examined you can say with certainty that you are fine. Now let us take care of you, and we'll take you to the hospital ". He is still upset by this, Chris gets it.

Just look into each other's eyes, and they can understand what they are and are feeling. It has always been like that for them.

"Do it for me Jim," Chris tells him, deep fear is evident in his eyes. "I know well that right now I'm wrong to talk to you like that. We are at work, and as an agreement. " He stops to take a breath, "but Jim you are important to me, and know that I will make sure that nothing ever happens to you"

The air in the room is filled with pure passion and love, but the atmosphere is interrupted by the entry of the whole 20 squad.

Chris tries to compose himself as much as possible, but his eyes are full of tears, and Luca notices it "Chris, don't worry, Street is a tough man" Luca whispers, while he rubs his hand on her back.

Tan and Deac are loading Street on the stretcher, along with Nora.

"Hey imaginary sick man, don't worry us," Tan says, "sorry guys, but the new boss won't give me a break. "Even if lying on the stretcher, Street makes fun of his condition. Chris shakes his head and rolls his eyes "Shut up Long Beach, at least when you're sick don't make stupid jokes. Save them for us ".

At that moment Hondo enters "ok guys, we'll take him by helicopter. Nora, you go with him, while we go with Black Betty.

Chris doesn't contradict him, but he would like to go with Street. He follows him with his eyes as his teammates load him into the helicopter, he stays behind. Hondo notices Chris, watches her, and decides in a split second that he couldn't and didn't want to be the one to split those two. "Chris," she turns to face him, "go with Street. We will bring you all the equipment if we need to have a call. Don't worry "Chris's eyes light up, they gleam" thanks boss. Thanks so much"

Without replying, he runs towards the helicopter.

Tan and Deac look at her perplexed. "I'm going with him. Orders from Hondo, "he tells his colleagues and gets on the helicopter.

"What are you doing here?" Street tells her "I wouldn't have left you alone" Chris had to shout with a smile on his face. Street smiles back, and Nora is now certain that between her two colleagues there is something higher than a friendship.

The journey is uneventful, as soon as they land, Street is taken to the emergency room, while Chris and Nora are escorted to the waiting room.

A few minutes later, the rest of 20-squad arrives. "Chris, did you hear anything?" says Luca

"Still nothing," replies the woman, visibly tried. "I don't know how long we have to wait for news" he pauses for a moment "waiting destroys me. If only I had noticed before "" Chris, no! " Hondo stops her "Don't blame yourself for something that is apart from us. You know, as a team leader I have learned to take note of everything that happens, and to try to solve it as best we can. In our work, injuries happen, it's nobody's fault." Hondo comforts her.

"Yes, but, I can't lose him" Chris replies "I know Chris, it's different for you, but don't worry, he'll be fine"

The door to the emergency room opens and a doctor comes out.

"Hi, are you here for agent Jim Street?" he turns to Luca, he is the closest to the door.

"Yes, we are his colleagues," Tan replies. Chris, who was sitting on the bench near the window, gets up and walks over to the others.

"I'm Dr. Jackson Wick, I'm looking after your colleague" Chris interrupts him "Jack?" she is surprised "I'm Chris,". The doctor looks at her and smiles at her too surprised "Christina Alonso ! Who will see you again! "

All the members of the team look at them surprised.

"Guys, he's a schoolmate of mine, we went through all the schools together, we were inseparable. We got lost after eighteen. " He stops and returns to reality "how is Street?" he asks without adding anything else.

"Agent Street has three broken ribs, a semi-collapsed lung and a slight hemorrhage in the abdomen. We are about to take him to the operating room. " In that instant Chris feels weak, his legs are about to give out. Luca is behind her, he notices what is about to happen and grabs her from behind "Chris, lean on me, sit down" she doesn't say anything, she can't speak. Luca follows, and everyone approaches her, including the doctor.

"Chris," the doctor tells her "Jim asked about you, he would like to see you before going into the room"

Chris is lost in her thoughts, her every fear is now more real, the possibility of losing the most important person in her life is real.

"Chris, did you hear what the doctor said?" he shakes her "yes, I understand, take me to him Jack" stands up and follows the doctor.

Jack accompanied Chris to Street's room. She takes a few moments before entering, she doesn't want to show Jim the fear that pervades every single cell of his body right now. She fixes her hair and walks in "hey Jim," gives him a smile, but Street doesn't fall for it "I know how scared you are. I can imagine. But you don't have to be afraid. I'm not going to leave you. I love you Chris."

At these words Chris could not hold back the tears, he hugged him, without saying anything. She just wants to hold on to the man she loves madly, her best friend, the only person who has managed to bring down her walls.

A few minutes pass in silence, only the beeps of the machinery to which Street is connected can be heard. She lifts her face from Street's shoulder, "long beach, don't try to prank me." She looks him in the eye "if anything happens to you, I swear I'll look for you and kill you with my own hands" threatens him.

"never go against a swat agent" strokes her face. Street's eyes are full of love, passion, he's serious, he's not kidding right now "Chris you are my only reason. I know how much we have suffered to get to this point, to become aware of our feelings" he pauses, perhaps also due to the physical pain she is feeling "Christina I love you so much and I will love you forever"

At that moment the medical team enters with Jack.

"Sorry for the interruption guys" says Jack, as Chris walks away from Street but without letting go of his hand.

"The operating room is ready" he turns to Street "we'll be out in about two hours. It won't be long," continues the doctor, addressing Chris this time. He too noticed how close these two were, and how anxious she was.

She nods, and kisses Street on the forehead "ok, long beach, see you in two hours"

"I'll be the one on the stretcher half asleep," he winks at her. He smiles at her

The nurses begin carrying Street to the operating room. Chris stays behind, and Jack goes to meet her "I'll bring him back to you safe and sound. Don't worry" the doctor consoles her.

They look at each other and she nods "I'll wait with my colleagues. Please give me news as you go, don't make me wait two hours!"

The doctor replies "okay, I'll send a nurse out to give you updates every 30 minutes."

Chris's eyes are filled with tears, he hugs his friend, "you are the best"

"I learned from the best".
