It is finally discharge day. Chris and Street return home after a week's recovery in the hospital.
Chris is having the last physiotherapy session when Luca and Tan arrive in the room where Street is alone.
"Hey guy. Ready to go home?" Say Luca.
"you can't imagine how happy I am." Street answers
"I got the stuff Chris asked me. It's all in the truck down here." Tan says
"where is Chris?" Luca asks
"She is having the last session of physiotherapy therapy. It will be over shortly. However we have already filled out all the discharge forms. As she arrives we can leave." Communicates Street
"I heard Deac and Hondo. Everything is ready, and our little friend has just been picked up."
Luke reports
"Thank you very much. I don't know how I would have done without you. Surely I could not have accomplished anything so quickly without the help of all of you" thanks Street in a mixture of excitement and gratitude.
Luca approaches him and puts a hand on his shoulder "always remember that we are a family. We always help and support each other. And then we are all curious to see what Chris will look like as soon as he sees him"
"see what?" Chris asks as she walks through the door of the room.
Everyone's eyes widen, the surprise is about to be discovered.
"Street was telling me that most likely I was wrong to bring you all the watch stuff." Try Tan to divert Chris's attention.
She quickly realizes that maybe she has heard something she shouldn't have felt, and then pretends to fall into Tan's game.
"Oh my god Tan! I bet my truck is full to the brim! Moving for convalescence at Luca and Street's house doesn't mean I have to move! Just a few spare parts" says Chris, pretending to be annoyed.
"What's done is done. Can we go now?" Street asks.
"oh yeah! I don't want to stay a minute longer. I can't wait to lie down on your sofa and watch a TV series!" Chris replies as she takes some of his bags.
The four officers leave the hospital within minutes. They get into Chris's truck and head to Luca and Street's house.
As soon as Luca parks in the driveway, Chris sees the cars of all his teammates, looks at the others and says "what are they all doing here?"
"Hondo and Deac just want to see how you are doing," Tan replies.
They get out of the truck and as they head for the door, it opens, and Luca's dog Duke snaps out, followed immediately after by Matthew and Vic, Deac's children, with another small puppy on a leash.
Duke immediately jumps on Chris to greet her, she's always its favorite person.
The little puppy also approaches Chris wagging his tail, she notices "and who are you?"
"Aunt Chris, read the note on her neck," says Matthew.
Without saying anything, she follows the child's directions. she takes the rolled up card, opens it and reads aloud "a small gift compared to what you gave me. J.S."
Few words that provoke in Chris, and not only, an infinity of emotions. She looks up from the small piece of paper and immediately seeks Street's gaze. She can't say anything, her eyes are tinged, and she decides to go up to him and hug him. A hug that lasts a few seconds because it is interrupted by the little Belgian Malinois puppy.
Everyone burst out laughing
"The gentleman has character," says Luca
Meanwhile, Chris wipes tears from his eyes "I don't know what to say. You shouldn't have" are the only sensible words she can utter.
"Chris, you don't have to say anything. That's what I felt like doing." Street doesn't have time to finish the sentence she closes his lips with hers.
Everyone applauds and whistles in approval of the couple.
They all go into the house together. The team, with the help of Annie, Nichelle, and Bonnie, had prepared a small buffet to celebrate the two officers' return home.
"The trainer also gave me his pedigree of him. He is vaccinated, purebred, has a lineage of winners. His name is Athos, and he is a 4 month old Belgian Malinois." Says Deacon
"you are crazy Street! You spent a fortune!" Chris scolds him
"nah, let's say that being in Swat, and having a girl who is in Swat and who is part of k9 has the advantages of her." He tells her and she rolls her eyes.
"come on Chris is really cute, and you will be a fantastic mom!" Luca says
"I have no doubts" Chris replies, before heading to the corner where Matthew and Vic are playing with Athos.
Chris spends the whole morning playing with the dog and his grandchildren in law.
On Street, with the rest of the team all that remains is to admire how she has gained the little puppy's trust in a few minutes, and how he already responds to her commands.
It is these little moments of tenderness that make Street fall in love with Chris more and more.
