Sharon stood dressed in a Dodger's tee shirt, ball cap with her ponytail poked out the back, and jeans. She waited nervously on Andy. The game was about to start.
Just when Sharon had thought she'd been stood up, Andy sent her a text.
Andy: I'm so sorry for what is about to happen. I'll make it up to you later.
Sharon looked up confused then saw Andy walking up the steps to their seats. Provenza followed.
"Captain Raydor?" Andy acted surprised.
"Lieutenants Flynn and Provenza?" She followed along.
"Raydor?" Provenza looked from her to Andy. "You invited Raydor? That's why you didn't want me to come along?"
"No," Sharon shook her head and narrowed her eyes. "I didn't know you two were going to be here."
"No you thought it was just going to be the two of you." Provenza motioned between the two of them.
"That's not true." Andy stepped in. "You really think I want to hang out with her?"
"Yes." Provenza nodded angrily. "Yes I do."
"This is ridicules." Sharon threw her arms up. "I'm leaving."
"I don't see why you need to do that." Andy blocked her way. "We're all adults here."
"Then I'm leaving." Provenza turned to walk away.
"No one is leaving." Andy got in front of him. "Why should the Captain ruin her evening just because we showed up? And why should we just because she showed up?"
"You two can act like nothing is going on here all you want," Provenza shook his finger at both of them. "But I'm a detective and I know something is going on here."
"There's nothing going on." Andy nervously laughed. "Just three officers trying to enjoy a baseball game."
"Bullshit." Provenza sit down in the seat meant for Andy. "I'll stay, but you two make googly eyes at each other and I'll shoot you both."
"Really I can leave." Sharon looked from Provenza to Andy. "It's not a problem."
"No, Captain." Andy ushered her to sit. "I'm sorry the Lieutenant here is being rude. I wouldn't blame you if you gave him four weeks of sensitivity training."
"It's fine, Lieutenant." Sharon set down beside the grumpy man. "I'm used to his rude behavior."
"Get used to it if you're going to start dating him." Provenza crossed his arms.
"I'm not dating anyone." Sharon rolled her eyes. Andy took a seat on the other side of Provenza. "Especially Lieutenant Flynn."
Sharon refused to be miserable the whole game. She yelled and cheered just like if she'd been there by herself or with one of her kids.
Then it happened. The kiss cam. Sharon looked up and she and Provenza were featured on it.
"Don't even think about it." He grumbled.
Sharon shook her head and the cam went away only to return again.
"Kiss, Kiss, kiss," the crowd chanted. "Kiss, kiss, kiss."
"Fine." Sharon grabbed Provenza's face with both hands and laid a kiss right on his lips.
Andy's jaw dropped and Provenza's hands came up to grip her upper arms. He broke the kiss and set her back in her seat.
"Don't you ever do that again." He wiped his mouth on his sleeve. "And you need a mint."
"I do not." Sharon put her hand up to her mouth to smell her breath. "Liar."
"I should get you for sexual harassment." He grumbled.
"Who would believe you?" Sharon smiled.
"I can call everyone here as a witness." He pointed out.
"Then do it." She leaned up and looked at Andy. "You okay over there Lieutenant?"
"I'm fine." He too crossed his arms. "I'm just glad he picked that seat and not me."
"I bet you are." Provenza grumbled.
Sharon set back with a smirk on her face.
They parted ways when the game ended. Sharon walked to her car alone and decided to go home. She didn't want to show up at Andy's house and Provenza still be there.
Sharon climbed into her car wondering if this fate telling her not to continue this affair with Lieutenant Andy Flynn.
