The five of them drove through the long blue grasslands; they saw trees with red bark and purple bulbs at the end of their branches, mountains on the horizon, and bird-like monsters flying in front of the two red moons in the sky.
"I've never been in this part of the monster dimension before," Jake said.
"You were probably in another part of it," Zeon said. "But there's so much more in this world, so you've seen nothing yet."
"I've brought a camera and lots of film so that we can take pictures of this world and maybe send them back to International to document them," Kirby said.
"Smart idea," Hayley said. "With Felix working at International, he would be thrilled."
"Why don't we stop here so that you can take some pictures," Zeon said. "But go into the scent shower to cover your human scents."
Cadence didn't need to cover her scent because of her monster scent, so Kirby, Jake, and Hayley walked into the shower where a purple gas sprayed over them.
They covered their scents in the shower and walked out of the vehicle.
The grass was up to their knees so they could hardly see where they were stepping.
After Kirby took a few pictures, they heard something rustling a few feet away from them in the grass.
They slowly crept towards whatever was making that noise and came to a clearing.
They knelt down and saw a bunch of small marble like eggs in small mounds.
"It's a nesting ground," Zeon said.
"For what?" Hayley asked.
"Monster 298," Zeon said. "The Oculypse."
"This is an oculypse nesting ground," Kirby said with a worried tone.
"The oculypse lives in this area because they can hide in the tall blue grass and attack their victims out of nowhere with their paralyzing stinger," Zeon explained.
The team saw strange red spots poking out of the grass.
The red dots then bobbed up and down while there was also a tapping sound in the grass.
"What's that?" Jake asked.
"That's the oculypse form of communication," Zeon said. "They can sense other oculypse in the area through their stingers and then tap their legs on the ground like they were using Morse Code."
Just then, a colony of about twenty-three oculypse came scuttling out of the grass and circled around their eggs with their stingers ready.
"What are they doing?" Cadence asked.
"Guarding their eggs," Zeon said. "There are some monsters that feed on their eggs."
"Let me get a few shots of this," Kirby said. "Then we'll head back to the vehicle."
After he took a single shot, they heard strange sounds that sounded like a gurgle and a screech in the sky.
They looked up to find a bunch of flying monsters circling over their heads.
"What are those?" Jake asked.
"Monster 078, Cephalobirds," Zeon said. "They feed on the oculypse eggs."
One of them came swooping down and used one of its eight tentacles under its head to grab one of the eggs then flapped out of here with its two fleshy wings.
More and more came down, but the oculypse jabbed their stingers at them to scare them off.
"Should we help the oculypse out," Jake said.
"It's probably better to let nature take its course," Cadence said.
"I've got enough shots of the oculypse and the cephalobirds," Kirby said. "Let's get out of here."
They quietly and quickly crept away.
They looked back and saw that one of the cephalobirds was paralyzed, and the oculypse laid their feeding pods around it.
Being in the sunlight, the feeding pods exploded all over the paralyzed cephalobird and the other members of the flock fled.
"Let's move faster before things get really messy," Hayley said.
Before they could get to the vehicle, an oculypse stinger bobbed out of the grass and tried to strike at them.
Cadence grabbed the stinger as fast as lightning and tossed the monster away from them.
They climbed into the vehicle and drove away.
"That was so cool," Jake said. "We got to see monsters hunting and defending their unborn young."
"I can't believe that I'm saying this," Hayley said. "But I actually want to see more now."
"Let's keep going," Cadence said.
"You all better hold onto something," Zeon said.
"Why?" Kirby asked.
Zeon pushed a button, wings sprouted out of the sides of the vehicle, and it began to fly.
"Now we're riding in style," Jake said.
