As the sun began to set, the Troop set up a campfire in an open area near another cliff.
The two red moons became more brighter and redder as the sun was almost gone.
"The sunset in the monster world is pretty," Hayley said. "Almost like the sunset back home."
"Not quite," Zeon said. "Watch what happens." The sun was almost gone, but a bunch of strange beams of light came shooting off the sun and zipped directly across the sky.
"What was that?" Jake asked.
"Monster 898, Lung dragons, also known as Chinese Dragons," Zeon said. "They often dwell in space in this dimension, so they use the sun to warm up their bodies and build up powerful qi energy."
"Once they're warm enough and have built up enough qi, they fly off to nest on this planet."
"Did you make a whole universe in this dimension?" Kirby asked.
"No, just this one planet with several interdimensional worlds, the two moons, and one sun with almost six hundred million stars," Zeon said. "Anyway look." Three lungs came down; their long snake-like bodies were glowing.
Hayley quickly stood up and pulled out her blaster.
"Hey, wait, don't shoot them!" Zeon said. "Lungs are quite friendly after being warmed up, even to humans."
One of the lungs held down its head and Zeon stroked its long flowing hair.
"This is pretty cool," Jake said.
He touched one of the lung's whiskers, and the lung's hair rose up along its back while it scratched its talons on the ground.
"What happened?" Jake asked like he did something wrong.
"Lungs really like it when you touch their whiskers," Zeon said. "But don't mess around with the whiskers too much or it will eat you."
"Let's take a group photo," Kirby said.
He pulled out a tripod and placed the camera on it.
After pushing the button, he quickly ran back to the group where the Lungs were behind them.
The camera flashed, and the lungs took to the air again.
"Do they have to go so soon?" Kirby asked.
"They have to build their nests with their mates after they leave the sun, or they will get too cold and won't be able to lay their eggs," Zeon said.
"I'm going to miss them," Hayley said. "They were pretty."
Later that night, the Troop was sleeping in the vehicle to avoid being eaten by monsters.
Hayley woke up to find that Jake was gone.
She walked out and saw Jake standing almost at the edge of the cliff.
"Are you alright?' Hayley asked as she walked towards him.
"I just can't sleep," he said. "I've been thinking about what I should do after I leave the Troop; I haven't decided on what I should do, and I don't want to have to leave you."
Hayley thought for a moment. "Maybe you can come with me to Yale and attend some art classes, that way we won't have to leave each other."
"I do actually have an acceptance letter for art classes there, so I like that idea," Jake said. "Let's take a walk."
"Let me grab our weapons, just in case," Hayley said. "And also, Kirby's camera in case we come across something cool."
The two of them strolled through the woods; it was dark and misty.
They both brought flashlights and had their weapons loaded.
Hayley stopped and saw what looked like a mouth with razor sharp teeth on the ground.
"Wow, don't stand on that," Jake said as he quickly pulled Hayley away from it. "The first time I came here, I stepped on one of these things, and it swallowed me, but I came falling out of another one from above the ground." He picked up a purple stone and dropped it into the weird mouth; the stone then dropped down on top of Jakes head.
"Fascinating," Hayley said giggling.
They both stopped by a small stream with mist rising from it.
The red light from the two moons was piercing through the trees, and the wind was blowing calmly.
"The monster world doesn't seem all that bad," Hayley said. "And the monsters look a little like they are living peacefully in this world, unlike living in our world."
"That's because this is their home," Jake said. "And living in our world would make them homesick in a destructive way."
They continued to sit by the stream until a bunch of small glowing orbs came floating out of the ground.
"Look at all the spark monsters," Jake said.
"They're pretty," Hayley said, taking a few shots with Kirby's camera.
The looked at each other and smiled.
They were about to get closer to each other, but they then heard a snap in the distance.
The spark monsters fled, and out from the darkness, another glow appeared.
The glow came closer, and a herd of unicorns came out with their glowing horns.
"Unicorns," Jake said.
"They're beautiful." Hayley said as she took a single shot of them.
The unicorns eyes suddenly turned red, and they roared with razor sharp teeth in their mouths.
"Not beautiful, run!"
The unicorns chased after them, so Jake pulled out his blaster.
He blasted them one by one and each of them exploded into goo.
Jake tripped and a unicorn tried to stab him with its horn.
He quickly rolled out of the way and got back up.
A roar came from the direction Jake and Hayley were running towards, and the unicorns turned around and ran away.
Jake and Hayley turned their heads to find a dark, mist-like figure with glowing red eyes floating in front of them.
Hayley took a quick photo and Jake shined his light at it; it vanished.
"Maybe we should head back to the vehicle before we become dinner for something else," Jake said.
In the morning, Jake and Hayley were up making breakfast.
Zeon, Kirby, and Cadence came out of the vehicle.
"You guys are up early," Cadence said.
"We had a crazy night," Jake said, pulling out Kirby's camera.
"You took my camera without asking?" Kirby demanded.
"We only borrowed it," Hayley said. "But we got some good shots."
"We saw a bunch of spark monsters floating through the night," Jake said. "And we were attacked by a herd of unicorns."
"Unicorns," Zeon scoffed. "Everyone in your world thinks that they are calm and peaceful creatures from fairy tales, but in reality, they're actually dangerous and elusive monsters that will devour any living creature they encounter."
"Anyway, the unicorns were then scared away by a strange creature," Jake said showing them the photo. "We didn't know what it was, but it scared off the unicorns."
Zeon looked concerned when he saw the photo.
"Is something wrong, Zeon?" Kirby asked.
"No," Zeon immediately responded. "Is anyone hungry?"
They looked over and saw that some of their food was being stolen by snarks.
"Hey, come back here!" Jake yelled.
The snarks then lit up their eyes and let out their melodies before retreating into nearby burrows.
"What happened?" Jake asked, shaking his head. "And what were we talking about?"
"You guys were snarked by a bunch of wild snarks," Cadence said.
"I never knew that there were wild snarks in the monster world," Kirby said.
"I'll explain," Zeon said. "Monster 381, Snarks. Since they're so small and vulnerable, I gave them the ability to shine a light from their eyes and sing that melody to scare away predators. But I discovered that their abilities have a unique effect on humans that causes them to have memory loss about monsters, so I gave monster hunters the idea of using snarks to make people forget that they've seen a monster."
"So, let's eat and keep going on our journey," said Jake. "I've had just about enough getting attacked by monsters for one morning."
