The vehicle soared through a fog bank where they came to a rocky shoreline.
The vehicle slowly landed next to a large slab of rock, and the Troop walked out to explore.
"There seems to be a lot of fog around the ocean but not here," Jake said.
"Mainly because there are rivers of lava here that flows into the sea creating a thick, fog-like steam," Zeon said.
"What are those?" Kirby asked, pointing towards a city of 50-foot-tall, orange, yellow-spotted structures in the distance.
"Those are Italo plants," Zeon said. "One of the main food sources for Monster 138, the Behemoth."
"Why did you take us to a place where behemoths live without telling us?" Hayley asked with both fear and frustration.
"Because there is something about the behemoths that I wanted to show you," Zeon said. "Follow me, and make sure your weapons are ready, just in case."
The Troop walked through the forest of italo plants, their stems as large as tree trunks.
A loud thud came from the distance as the ground shook.
"Everyone, follow me," Zeon said.
They all hid behind one of the stems as a herd of behemoths came striding out of the fog.
Without even noticing the Troop, the behemoths began breaking the stems of the plants.
The plants then fell to the ground like trees.
"Timber." Jake whispered.
The behemoths gathered around the humungous orange and yellow bulbs on top of the stems and began to chomp away on them.
"Are they really eating those plants?" Cadence asked Zeon.
"This is what I wanted to show you guys because this is one of your many mysterious monster facts," Zeon said.
"Which fact?" Jake asked.
"The behemoth loving the taste of lasagna," Zeon said. "Because these plants taste and smell exactly like lasagna."
"Why did you make these plants like that?" Cadence asked.
"I had to create the right kind of food source for the behemoth, and I had to use a fragment of oregano from lasagna to keep the particles in these plants steady, so I guess that they also picked up the flavor and scent of lasagna as I created the plants," Zeon explained.
"Okay, so we've learned about why the repticore is attracted to the scent of fire salamander goo and why the behemoth loves lasagna," said Jake. "What's next, the swarm of the hive monster are its larva?"
"Actually, yes," Zeon said. "As they age, they lose their wings, they develop the hive-like structure on their backs, their front legs become their arms, their middle legs fall off, and their back legs become their hind legs."
"Monsters like these have strange ways of entering adulthood, but a number of 1,040 in each hive monster don't make it to this stage, so a small number of ten remain."
"I was being sarcastic when I asked," Jake said. "But thanks for clearing that up."
They then looked and saw the behemoths have chewed away the entire outer layer of the plant until there was nothing but a stigma with seeds in the middle.
A bunch of smaller, baby behemoths came waddling over and began eating the seeds.
"Baby behemoths eat the seeds of the plants," Kirby said, taking some pictures.
"Because baby behemoths are almost human-sized, their molten cores inside them aren't strong enough for the large amounts of food, so they have to eat the seeds of the plant," Zeon explained. "But as they waddle around, some of the seeds aren't properly contained inside their cores, so the seeds just drop all over the place which causes new italo plants to grow."
"This is pretty cool," Jake said. "Maybe we can get ourselves some lunch from these plants."
"I wouldn't take any chances," Zeon said. "These plants could probably be toxic if a human consumes it."
"Good point," Jake said.
The behemoths devoured about thirteen italo plants till there was nothing left but the stems. Just then an echoing roar came from the ocean; the adult behemoths began to look alert. They circled around their young.
"What are they doing?" Kirby asked.
"They're in defensive position," Zeon said. "There must be predators nearby."
All of a sudden, water blasted out of the sea, and six humongous sea monsters came crawling out onto shore and giving loud, bellowing roars.
They each had a t-rex like head, four black eyes, two horns, six tentacles, two pincers on its arms, and a whale tail.
"What are they?" Jake asked look frightened.
"Monster 670, Leviathans," Zeon said. "They are the natural enemies of the behemoth."
The leviathans came crawling towards the behemoths; they lunged onto the adults, but the adult behemoths threw them off and gave them mighty hits.
"Why do they hate each other?" Kirby asked as he took pictures of the battle.
"Because leviathans often feed on the cores of the baby behemoths, and they have a drive to destroy one another," Zeon said. "There was even a mention of a battle like this in a book that you call the Bible where an elder male behemoth battled a dominant female leviathan."
"So, we could say that the bible is actually a history book." Jake said jokily.
One of the leviathans blasted fire from its mouth, which hit a behemoth's core causing it to explode into piles of rock. The leviathan made its move and absorbed a baby behemoth's core through its mouth which caused the baby to crumble.
Another one of the adults gave the leviathan a big punch and then suddenly transformed. The behemoth now looked like a giant bull with a rocky tail, rocky spines lining down its back, and rock horns and tusks.
"What just happened to it?" Kirby asked as he took a picture of it.
"Something that Troops haven't discovered about the behemoth," Zeon said. "The behemoth can change its shape by rearranging the rocks on its body into whatever it wants."
"That would be its attack form; the same form the elder male behemoth used to battle against the dominant female leviathan."
The other behemoths then did the same and changed into their attack form.
They charged towards the leviathans and rammed them towards the sea where they were tossed into the water.
The leviathans then gave a bunch of loud roars and dove back into the sea.
The behemoths then transformed back into their true forms and lumbered back to the plants.
"That was quite a battle," Jake said.
One of the adult behemoths turned around and spotted the Troop. It announced to the other behemoths that there were humans here.
The behemoths then slowly advanced towards the team.
"But I'm not going to like this battle," Jake said.
"Get to the vehicle!" Zeon shouted.
They ran out of the forest of plants towards the vehicle.
A boulder then came flying towards the vehicle; it smashed against the vehicle.
"The flying mechanism is damaged again," Zeon said, taking a look at it.
"What now?" Hayley shouted, looking at the behemoths still lumbering towards them.
"Everyone, buckle up," Zeon said. "There's another way we can travel."
Zeon pushed a button, and spike shot out from inside the wheels, the headlights flashed on, and a massive drill shot out of the front.
"Anyone up for a dig?" Zeon said.
The vehicle then drilled down into the ground before the behemoths could get to them.
"How many more mechanisms does this thing have?" Hayley asked.
"There's also a bowling alley," Zeon said.
"There is?" Jake said with excitement.
"Just kidding!" Zeon laughed.
Jake shot him a disappointed look and said nothing as they continued to drill through the ground.
