Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Snowy Soulmates. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own VK, Sega, Ryutaro Nonaka and Shuntaro Tanaka do.

The APC stopped outside the gate which made Matias hum as the ramp hissed open. He turned to Minerva and offered his hand to the lieutenant.

"I'm guessing we're going to have a talk about the tactics will be done?" Matias questioned as he looked over the Vinland reinforcements.

"That would be best for things, yes." Minerva stated as she looked to look to the side. "Plus, its won't be long before the empire attacks soon. The empire will be sending reinforcements to wipe out us soon." Minerva stated which caused Matias to nod as he hummed and crossed his arms.

Matias knew the cold would be harder to fight then soldiers. If this war was closer to Vinland? They'd be able to constantly flood soldiers into the issue and keep up the war easily.

With the war with a massive empire on even footing like them? it didn't exactly put them on even footing. If he was a soldier in the empire? He'd be flooding them with soldiers while they weren't properly situated into the terrain.

'Then again? You'd have to be a ruthless warlord or a sociopath that constantly throws away lives when it comes down to it.' Matias thought to himself while he brushed off his uniform.

He knew for a fact that this war wouldn't be easy on Vinland. They weren't the top dog in the fight for once… And Vinland was good at slug outs. Fighting a war thousands of miles across the ocean? That made it a lot harder to hold onto some sort of advantage when Vinland had to send troops and supplies across the sea.

"I think we should try and even out troop deployments." Matias said and cupped his chin in his hand. "Vinland sent me with plenty of reinforcements… But if you can guess? We don't exactly have the ability to flood the empire with soldiers… Logistics alone will be a nightmare, not to mention supply lines and readying reinforcements." Matias said as Minerva nodded and rubbed at her chin.

"Yes, that seems to be the rub." Minerva responded as she planted her hands on her hips. "Did you think of troop deployments yet? I can show you the maps." Minerva questioned as Matias hummed and shrugged for a moment.

He knew for a fact that this wouldn't exactly be much easier with intel…. But any little bit counted in his book. Matias hummed for a moment as the cold winds of the tundra blew across his face. Matias crossed his arms and then hummed.

"Yeah, that will help." Matias said before brushing the snow off his coat. "But I think we should also figure out what's the opposition. It will make things far easier." Matias said as he looked up at the Edinburgh flag.

Matias said nothing while he cracked his fingers inside his gloves. His soldiers started to unload the convoy. Matias knew he didn't have to give them instructions as he hummed. Matias was glad to see his men handling this issue at the moment.

Plus, he'd give them instructions down the road. Vinland soldiers were able to handle their own ops without constantly dealing with people breathing down their neck.

Matias was pulled from his thoughts by Minerva pulling him along by the arm. Matias rolled his eyes and wondered what the Lieutenant had in store for him.

He certainly knew that this would be the most interesting mission that Vinland had dispatched him on…. He just hoped it wasn't the last one that he'd be sent on to begin with.

Matias sadly knew that many of the men and women fighting alongside him in combat? They wouldn't be coming out of this, Matias wanted to wish that they had some reason to not fear death… But they did, nobody could say they were immune to caring about their own lives. Many of the people fighting alongside him would be buried in the oceans or the fields.

'What kind of death is it to be buried among the ice and snow? A damn horrid way to die if you ask me… To be thrown in a hole and left to rot without a gravestone? A proper funeral? Any type of real sendoff? Bah, this might be a victory for the generals in charge… But its won't be a victory to me unless we prove that throwing lives away for small victories rather then battles that mean something…' Matias thought to himself as he followed after Minerva.

Part of him could guess that the battle would go ok…. Mainly due to the abundance of soldiers.

But he didn't want to just win by throwing lives when it came down to it… And he swore to some god that he'd be ticked more then anything when it came down to it.

And Matias hated that in the end.
