Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Snowy Soulmates. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own VK, Sega, Ryutaro Nonaka and Shuntaro Tanaka do.

Matias was quite tired at the moment while he slowly started to drag himself through the snow while he looked over his shoulder at Minerva who was quite tired. He guessed that things were going to be almost impossible with the imperial scouts searching for them through the snow.

He panted and aimed his pistol into the snow while he shook his head and started to look down from the barrel of his gun. He was well aware there was more enemies hunting him.

"Does anyone know what's going to happen?" Matias stated while he breathed out a breath of fresh air.

Still? He was quite knowledgeable on how the empire might react to them. They were quite determined to wipe the group out more then anything, if they were sending scouts into the winter cold just to hunt them down? He was going to guess they would divide the rest of the men up to recon the land more properly.

"Minerva, are you ok?" Matias questioned as he started to look around with more interest.

He heard nothing but silence on the other end as he sighed and rolled his eyes. He was quite used to these types of missions, but that didn't make him an expert on the enemy at hand.

"Yes, as much as this attire would allow." Minerva responded as she sighed, a breath of sheer ice and snow emerging from her jaw.

"We need to move before the empire's scouts find us. We wont last much longer against them." Matias stated as he brushed snow from his jacket. "And between you and me? I'd rather take my chances with the snow over them." Matias added which got a nod from the Lieutenant.

Minerva looked at the snow. If anything? She was more relived by the snow then anything, it reduced visibility to nearly nothing for both their side and the empire's army. That helped, it would ensure they made a hasty retreat back to camp.

"You know, if any of them reached the camp? There wouldn't be much fight." Matias added to the 22-year-old lieutenant. "That was enough armor to burn down an entire city, let alone a small encampment like the one we had established." Matias stated while he sighed and slowly listened with clear annoyance.

This was a stupid mission, but it was clear if they hadn't? The camp wouldn't be left standing. They'd have lost everything that could have possibly been lost and there would be no foothold left in this region.

"You think any of them managed to get moving in time to escape?" Matias questioned as the group started moving forward again. "We did buy them some time at least, and if that avalanche did what it should have? They would have lost at least a few platoons for what they gained in return." Matias added which did get a nod from the lieutenant.

He was quite curious about this engagement. If they managed to survive? He would personally ensure that they had a better stratagem at the rest of the day. Then again? Matias had a feeling they weren't going to be working if they didn't move out soon enough.

"How many soldiers are you think they lost?" Minerva heard from one of the soldiers a second later.

"At least a 100 or so." Matias stated as he turned to Minerva with a heavy look. "That avalanche took out like half the mountain, there's dozens of soldiers still marching on the base." Matias added with a sigh as the sound of treads caused them to turn to the side a second later.

Matias and Minerva brought up their guns, wondering what going to happen. It was then the sound of treads began to move towards them. The group brought up their guns as well, all aiming in different directions.

"So, this is going to be how we die, isn't it?" One of the soldiers stated while looking into the blizzard around them.

"Not tonight, soldier… Just keep calm and we're handle it." Minerva stated while as she slowly clicked her rifle, aiming down the sights a moment later.

"There has to be something to do, you know." Matias stated to say while the treads slowly moved towards them. "You know we might die today at the end of the day." Matias added as the tank slowly rolled their way.

They were about to fire before they noticed that it was an Edinburgh symbol. The vehicle was an APC, slowly approaching them, it's turrets slowly point towards them while the duo looked at each other once more.

"You now our luck isn't going to hold up." Matias added while he hummed and then looked at each other.

The APC slowly started to look towards them a moment later. He was quite done with this thing at the second.
