"I'll post next week." she said... I'm so sorry guys... ugh. I'm surprised if you guys are still stickin with this tbh. but for those who do, thank you so much.
As more and more cracks and sinkholes appeared all over the city, Calli had no other option but to take the regular roads. Though it wasn't much safer than the roofs with all the soldiers running around. The redhead pushed herself back to the wall of an alley, the falcon perched on her shoulder.
She carefully scanned her surroundings, she had a warrior on either side of the exit, pacing with regular intervals.
Five Seconds was all she needed.
And once their backs turned, she took those seconds and dashed into the opposite alley. She kept moving, never slowing down, unless the ground cracked, until she found her friends.
The falcon flew back to it's owner as Kai nearly hit Jay and Misako in the face as he wildly motioned around him with his arms. Lloyd handed a puppy back to it's owner and Cole refused to get off of the floor.
"These things keep coming without a warning." The Red Ninja Exclaimed.
Misako's eyes lit up with realization. "That's it! A warning! The scrolls said the earthquakes would be a warning. A warning for something far worse to come."
Jay scoffed, "Far worse? What could be 'Far worse'?"
"Misako, the indestructible Stone Warrior we fought yesterday, Where did you find him?" Cole piped up, finally getting to his feet.
"He was buried under the city." she slowly admitted, realizing what he meant.
"you don't think there's more, do you?" Jay gasped.
"There are, on the other side of the city." Calli spoke from her place next to Lloyd.
Wu nodded and looked around the group, holding eyes with his students "Be on guard, Ninja. We must be ready for whatever comes our way." Not a few seconds later the ground shook once more and a soldier popped its head around the corner.
Jay whirled around, face red under his mask. "You said they were on the other side of the city!" he cried, looking at Calli pointedly.
"Like it's my fault these things are bloody fast." she countered, ready to argue further when her ringtone started to screech trough the streets, grabbing the attention of all the warriors in the surrounding area.
"Okay, time to run!" Kai never needed to give the order again.
In-between that and now, she'd learned that her other friends were busy with evacuating people outside of the now infested area and she couldn't be more thankful. However... Running whilst having a phonecall proved more difficult then expected, especially when you were running away from something. Calli had currently herself, Zane and Cole protected under one of her forcefields giving the boys enough time to save Dareth and the local news crew.
"C, we need a save point, the evac point is swarming with these things!" Came Dante over the short forgotten line. The female redhead took a deep breath, letting the shield fall to run her hand trough her bangs. "They seem to stay on ground level, just get as many people to a higher ground." she breathed as the sonic raider arrived with lloyd, Misako and Wu, discussing the next steps they would have to take.
It wasn't untill the news anchor, Gayle, came with the solution, solving both the problems of staying low and Nya's parking problem. " The NGTV building has a helipad on the roof." Lloyd nodded and quickly jumped into action to tell Nya to park the Bounty there.
"You heard it, grab as many people as you can and meet us there, make sure you take routes that have enough space and please be careful." Calli hated the fact her voice wavered a bit at the end, but she couldn't ignore how her stomach churned at the thought of her friends coming up against one of these things.
"We will. Good luck to you guys."
Another building rumbled as the streets cracked and tore open, forcing Calliope to jump with little balance. The girl letting out a groan as she hit a lower part of the pavement hard.
'Why can't we ever be overrun by bunnies.' She grumbled and pushed herself upright. Wincing as she put pressure on her left arm. Her head was pounding, forcing her to take a breather.
Her earpiece cracked and gave her a shock forcing her to toss it to the ground, the blow to the ground must have broken it.
She took one more deep breath before looking around, The Dojo was back towards the west and as far as she could tell the streets were good to go for now at least so she could be able to make it if she were fast.
'Let's just get this over with.' With some difficulty she managed to jump back to higher ground. weaving trough the buildings as quietly as she could, daggers at the ready just to be sure. Luckily most of the stone warriors were dumb enough not to lower their vision too much or look inside windows, giving her ample opportunity to jump from building to building. Most of this part of the town had been evacuated already leaving most of the rooms empty, broken and in some cases about to crumble with thanks to all the tremors. At least most of them were empty.
If her hearing wasn't enhanced, she'd probably missed the small whimpering from somewhere in the room. It was a small living-room, trashed as it could be and dusty from the cracked ceiling that looked like it could collapse any minute now. The sound had come from one of the corners, behind a knocked over couch. It turned out to be a little girl.
'Hey there.'
The little girl jumped, trying to push herself even farther back into the corner.
'Hey, hey, It's okay.' she held one hand up in surrender and used the other to put away her weapons. 'I'm not going to hurt you. Are you alone?'
The little girl nodded. 'Mommy had to do groceries. She told me to stay here.'
Calli pursed her lips. 'That's very good of you, but it's no longer save here.' That was apparently the wrong thing to say, she realized as soon as the words left her mouth. 'Let's get you to safety alright.'
'But what about my mommy! I'm scared!"
'I'll ask my friends to find her for you okay? But i need you to be a brave girl now, okay.'
It took a few minutes but she eventually agreed after some coaxing and not a moment to soon, as the roof finally gave out, crashing down and hitting the clear purple forcefield with loud crashes. Calli let out a sharp breath as soon as the rumbling stopped, it wasn't all that bad, they had another opening to get out of the building at least.
'Stay close to me, okay, and i need you to do everything I tell you to.'
The little girl nodded, clinging to her legs. 'Yes, miss.'
'Alright. Let's go.'
"Calli!" It was Lloyd's shout that got her attention. Hanging out of a window of the back of a window of the NGTV building. 'Front doors are barricaded!"
"Your couldn't have waited for 5 seconds?" She huffed and then turned to the little girl, Lea. "I'm going to use a little magic trick to get us inside, okay? But you have to keep your eyes closed and not let go, no matter what okay?'
Lea nodded and did as she was told. Calli took a deep breath and then used the last energy she could muster to perform a shadow walk, reappearing back with the boys on the staircase. She felt someone grab Lea. -Misako, she'd later learn.- As kai stabilized her.
'Lightheaded.' She just answered.
"Go up with my mom and Wu, We'll buy time for out getaway."
"Let's go."
And with that everyone jumped into action and spread out.
Despite being tired, the redhead did her best to offer support to the group. Bringing up shields, and doing her absolute best to protect the others until they managed to get upstairs. Bursting trough the door just in time to see the Bounty flying towards them. Lea took off with a shout of "MUMMY" and dashed towards a brownhaired woman who took the little girl in her arms immediatly. Calli just gave the woman a nod as she tried to help Nya with getting everybody on board. Her legs were shaking and felt like jelly, Which Zane quickly noted and, bless his heart, told her to go on the ship and make sure everyone could be as comfortable as possible. Calli didn't argue and did as she was told.
For about a minute before Nya dragged her to the bridge.
"They're on the other side of the building!" The other girl had briskly told her.
"Wait. Who are?"
Nya leveled her with a look. "Misako and Wu? Didn't you hear Lloyd yelling?"
Calli hadn't in fact, and just answered with a blank look before the words finally sunk in. Letting out a frustrated shriek she dashed towards the deck trying to see what she could done. But with the ship already taken off there wasn't much and she knew it. She arrived just in time to hear Zane bark back orders to Nya and for Jay and Lloyd to dash forwards to catch two falling figures. Lloyd looking very much red in the face but he swallowed the lecture for when there weren't civillians around.
Wu helped Misako stand and she could pick up snippits of the conversation, even though she shouldn't. But whilst the two Elders sounded optimistic, She couldn't help but worry about the gnawing bad feeling she had in her stomach.
