Hours Later in the Marketplace…
"Stop Thieves!" A booming voice demanded as Aladdin was fumbling a bit with his bread on the rooftops.
The quick feet Aladdin soon found himself with his back against a cliff as soldiers with swords come to make him pay.
"I will have your hands for a trophy, Street Rat!" Razoul, captain of the guard threatened with many others following him.
"…All this for a loaf of bread?" Aladdin questioned as he forced himself to jump as he managed to zip through on a clothesline as a woman screamed and shut her window.
Luckily, with some skilled maneuvering and a little luck, Aladdin managed to escape with a loaf of bread and clothing to cushion his fall.
"Get back here, Thief!" One of the guards called out in a fit.
"You won't get away that easily!" Another boomed as they were waving their swords from the rooftops.
"You think that was easy?" Aladdin commented as the girls giggled at his antics.
He noticed the guards were coming as he used the clothing that saved him to disguise himself from the palace guards. He tried to blend into the crowd of women doing the housework.
"Morning ladies." Aladdin greeted them as they grinned at the man.
"How has little Wahid been doing? Does he need any new clothes?" A woman wondered as she had some extra clothes for him.
"Aren't you getting into trouble a little early today?" The eldest woman smiled as she wagged her finger in a silly way.
"Trouble, no way. You're only in trouble if you get caught." Aladdin grinned but then was suddenly grabbed!
"Got you!"
"I'm in trouble." He whimpered as Razoul growled at him.
"And this time-."
That is when Abu jumped on his hat and Wahid pelted his team with fruit from a window. They laughed greatly as Wahid hopped to his adoptive father, who caught him. It seemed little Wahid has been coming a long way in his education in acrobatics and stealth.
"Perfect timing, Abu and Wahid as usual." Aladdin grinned at the pair.
"Of course, I learned from the best," Wahid smirked at his father.
"Hello." Abu greeted the pair as Aladdin settled Wahid down and the monkey hopped on his friend's shoulder.
"Come on, you two, we gotta keep up-."
Once again, the trio was faced by many guards and many foes as they tried to flee with their spoils. Through many barrels, flying weapons, homes of lovely women, an old nasty hag that was bigger than an elephant, behind a bulky man, over the flocks of sheep, past the hot coals, and flying down by a rug to use to carefully float down. Luckily, thanked to how Aladdin taught him, Wahid was able to sneak a couple of melons to add to the bread when they were at that lady's house with those girls. He bet that the hag who pointed out their orphaned, urchin lifestyle would never even miss them. If she does, who would even care?
"And now to celebrate, we feast. Alright." Aladdin grinned as he split the food for the three of them.
Little Wahid would get the bigger portions, though he complained about it, Aladdin wanted to make sure he got enough food to grow up properly. Aladdin did not want his adoptive child to be stunted in his growth or growing hungry. Wahid hated being babied by his dad, but Aladdin loved him as his own and that meant getting more. One, he will make something of himself, and he will provide for his dad and Abu. He will be known throughout the seven deserts and beyond as people will look at him as a hero.
Before the family of thieves was beginning to eat, a pair of children, even smaller than Wahid appeared. They looked hungry and probably knew nothing on how to gain the food as his father, monkey, and himself can. They have probably been going hungry for a couple of days now and were declining ever since. Aladdin looked to Abu who defiantly took a bite of bread. Wahid wanted to share, but his dad beat him to it. Aladdin presented the food he managed to steal to the children.
"Go on. Go on take it." Aladdin gently offered as they were as happy as can be.
Wahid was about to do the same, but his adoptive father intervened.
"Wahid, you have to eat yours. When you're older, you can share. But you need to eat more than the rest of us." Aladdin lightly scolded his son.
Wahid huffed as Aladdin ruffled his hair.
"Oh, I almost forgot. One of the widows made you a set of clothes to wear." Aladdin presented to the child as Wahid rolled his eyes.
He's not a baby, he can take care of himself.
Abu then reluctantly give the children his share as they showed their gratitude by petting him, causing the monkey to giggle. Then everyone soon heard fanfares from the streets as everyone was gathered as they were chatting and gossiping amongst themselves. Aladdin lifted Wahid up to his shoulders to see with him what was going on.
It was another fancy prince coming to see their princess, the never-seen princess Jasmine. Sometimes, Wahid wonders if there even is a Sultan or Princess and that the guards were making it up. It would be creepy if that was the case.
Then, the next thing he knew, his father placed him on the ground gently but swiftly to defend the children they were helping. The rude prince pushed him and Abu into the mud as everyone laughed at him.
"Dad!" Wahid gasped as he ran to his father's side, "For a prince, you sure no better than a heap of Camel dung!"
The prince then stopped as everyone gasped at the boy's words.
"Yeah, it's not every day we see a horse with two rear ends!" Aladdin added as the prince heard enough.
"You and your mongrel brat are worthless street rats, you are born street rats, you'll die as street rats and only your fleas will mourn you."
Before Aladdin could hit him, the doors closed, blocking off everyone from the palace.
"Wahid, we are not worthless, and we don't have fleas," Aladdin growled as he decided it was best that he, Abu, and Wahid went home.
At the abandoned building…
He didn't buy that they were nothing more than street rats or riffraff.
If they just looked a little closer, they would see a family who's poor and have nothing but themselves.
"Dad, do I really have to go to sleep? I dream weird." Wahid whined as Abu curled around the boy's neck and patted his head.
"All dreams are weird." Aladdin smiled as he tried not to show the prince's words getting to him.
"But my dreams are weird!" Wahid whined as he empathized on 'weird'.
"They're just dreams, thoughts, and memories in our heads seen in a different way. That's not scary." Aladdin soothed.
He sang a lyric-less song as Wahid and Abu drifted off to sleep. Then Aladdin looked up from the window where the palace is.
"Someday, things are going to change, you two. We'll be rich, we'll live in a palace and we won't have any problems at all…"
