Chapter 5: Doki Doki Group Chat
Monika: Okay everyone! I've decided to start an official Literature Club group chat!
Natsuki: Yeah? I'm surprised you've never thought of doing this before lol
Yuri: Will this group chat be casual? Or will it be for official announcements?
Monika: I was thinking a little bit of both. Just a way for us all to keep in touch y'know?
Sayori: Sounds great! Oh, who's the fifth number? I don't have the name
?: Oh it's me
Yuri: We don't have your name so we wouldn't know...
?: Oh my b! It's Alex
Natsuki: Alex? Why'd Monika put you in the group chat?
Sayori: Does this mean you joined the club?
Monika: Actually yes! First official announcement is that Alex has officially decided to join the Literature Club!
Sayori: Awesome! Yayyy!
Yuri: Wow. Welcome
Alex: Thanks guys lol
Natsuki: Ngl I thought you were gonna bail lol but that's cool
Alex: lol
Monika: Hey, Natsuki. Do you think you could make us something for the occasion?
Natsuki: Like cupcakes or something?
Monika: Preferably
Sayori: Yes please Yes please Yes please
Natsuki: Eh sorry I don't have the stuff rn. Maybe at the end of the week
Yuri: Oh? How disappointing. Do you need any help getting the ingredients you need?
Natsuki: nah I'm good thanks Yuri. I don't even know what I'm gonna make yet so it's all good
Alex: You bake Nat?
Natsuki: All the time. I thought I told you about it
Alex: If you did I don't remember lol
Yuri: I don't believe it ever came up
Sayori: So no cupcakes?
Natsuki: Haha no not til Friday. Sorry Sayori
Sayori: NOOOOOO
Sayori: My evening is now ruined by this horrible news
Alex: Aww lol
Monika: Ahaha anyways, now that we have 5 members, I think now is a good time to start planning out club activities and stuff! Not that we gotta brainstorm right now or anything, but just be thinking about it okay? We can talk about it more during the club meetings
Natsuki: Uhh I'll try but I'm pretty bad at coming up with stuff like that
Yuri: Not to sound...mean, for lack of a better word, but I fear I won't be much help with that either. I'm afraid I'm not well experienced with group settings, so I'm not the person to ask for planning group activities
Monika: Guess it's up to me, Sayori, and Alex to come up with ideas then
Alex: Me? I kinda just joined though. I don't really know the flow
Monika: Well we don't really have an established flow yet, so any suggestion is a welcome one!
Sayori: Especially if it involves cupcakes!
Natsuki: LOL
Alex: Well I mean the normal thing to do is to decide on one book or something for everybody to read and then we discuss it. Do you guys have anything like that going on?
Yuri: We do not. All of our tastes are very different from each other. I don't think that suggestion would work
Natsuki: Yeah, plus that just sounds like a school project. Last thing I need is more schoolwork
Sayori: We could pick something simple! Like a poem!
Monika: That's a nice idea, Sayori! A poem or a quote would be a lot easier to go over than a book. What do you guys think?
Yuri: That's much more feasible
Natsuki: Yeah I can do that
Alex: Poetry's cool
Sayori: Poetry IS cool!
Natsuki: I got an idea actually
Monika: Oh?
Natsuki: Remember when we had that week where we all spent a day sharing our favorite kind of literature?
Monika: yep!
Natsuki: Well now Alex is a member. He should do the same thing
Alex: share my favorite kind of literature?
Sayori: Yeah! I did poetry, Monika did short stories, Yuri talked about her favorite book series, and Natsuki did manga!
Alex: Ohh. And you gave what like a presentation on it?
Yuri: Presentation might be too formal a word. We just kind of talked about it, what we like about it, things like that
Monika: That would be a great opportunity for you to share some of your writing with us, Alex!
Alex: Ehhhhhh I guess. I mean, I haven't really done any reading other than school assignments for a long time, so I might not have a choice there
Yuri: Only if you feel comfortable doing so. We don't want you to feel pressured
Natsuki: We don't need to cut him any slack! He's an official member now! He should be pulling his weight!
Sayori: Yeah but we don't need to be mean! He just joined we don't wanna scare him off
Alex: Lol you're not gonna scare me off. I just don't know what I'd wanna share
Monika: Well, it's still an idea! And I think we'd love to hear whatever you want to share with us, Alex
Alex: Thanks
Yuri: I agree
Monika: Well, we can all discuss it more at the next club meeting maybe. Anyways, sorry to disturb everyone! I just wanted to get this set up. We all have each other's numbers now, and we can all talk to each other and support each other here
Alex: Like a group therapy session?
Natsuki: Lol that's what Monika made it sound like
