Chapter 2
Clark and Thor had heard rumors of a strange object that had landed outside of a small town in New Mexico. Clark looked around as they stepped off of a bus while Thor was immediately concerned with finding his hammer. Clark suggested that they ask around about this object that landed. Thor walked off, heading toward the first building that he saw. Clark noticed this and began to follow.
"I am Thor, Son of Odin," he announced as he walked into a diner. The occupants looked up at him in bewilderment. "I demand to know where this fallen object is outside of town."
"Thor," Clark called as he walked in. "Uh, maybe you should let me do the talking alright." He looked over at the occupants, smiling nervously. "Uh, sorry to disturb you folks. We are new in town. We heard about this object that landed near here and my friend really wanted to see it."
The occupants remained silent as they continued to stare at the newcomers. One of the waitresses pointed off to the west. After Clark excused them, they walked out as Thor asked how they were going to get there.
"I have some money. Maybe I can pay someone to give us a ride." Clark told him.
"I must retrieve my hammer and return home. I need to speak to father," Thor said.
They were able to find someone willing to give them a ride in exchange for fifty dollars. They ended up on a hill outside of a compound in the desert. It was late at night and the sky looked like it was about to rain. "It wasn't long before some guys in suits claiming to be with the government came in and took over the place. Whatever that thing is, they don't want anybody near it." The man who gave them a ride explained to them.
"We shall see about that," Thor replied.
"Thor," Clark said. "I'm not sure it's a good idea to provoke these guys."
"You have been good to aid me in getting here Clark Kent," Thor said after turning to his companion. "If you wish to leave now I understand. But I can not leave now. Not without Mjolnir."
Thor then turned and began moving down the hill toward the compound, under the cover of night. Clark was watching as he left. "Your friend is nuts, pal. He is going to get himself killed." The man said as he got back in his truck and drove off.
Clark turned back to the compound, torn over what he should do. He had offered to help Thor get here, but he hadn't expected to deal with the government. Doing anything to help Thor could expose his secret. His dad had always told him that the world wasn't ready to learn the truth. He died to keep Clark from revealing himself. Even now, the guilt weighed on him for not doing something that day. Everything in him was telling him to save his dad but he didn't listen. Instead, choosing to do as his dad wished.
Thor fought his way through the compound. He was plowing through guards, one after the other. His progress was impressive as Clark watched with his x-ray vision. Thor ran into a rather large man. It proved to me more of a challenge than the others, but Thor managed to come out on top before making his way over to the hammer. Clark was stunned. It was real. It was right there, stuck in a rock.
Thor grinned triumphantly as he approached his prize. His hand reached out to grab it and pull, but the hammer wouldn't budge. His grin dropped as he pulled again while the hammer remained lodged in place. Thor grabbed it with both hands this time and pulled with all his might, nothing. He stepped back, looking defeated. He fell to his knees as he stared at the hammer in silence. Men with guns came in and surrounded him.
Finally coming to a decision, Clark sped toward the compound. He fired his heat vision at the lights of the compound, drawing attention away from Thor and darkening the area. Clark sped in and grabbed Thor faster than anyone could see and ran them both out of there. He stopped a mile away from the compound as Thor turned to look at him.
"I don't understand. How did you just do that?" Thor questioned.
"I'm not exactly normal," he told him.
"I am not worthy," Thor said quietly.
Note: I know that it has been a while but I just decided that I wanted to continue this story. After the first chapter I had the realization of, where am I even going with this? I have a plan now. I am going to do this, then a sequel fic crossing over with the Avengers.
