The Deville You Know Ch9
At the live event that Saturday, Mandy arrived early, wanting to try and get a read on her two teammates when they arrived at the building. Renee wasn't there, having no real job to do with no cameras at the event. That hadn't stopped her sending text after text, especially since Mandy got to the arena. She had resorted to putting her phone onto silent to try and drown her out, but she then had to keep checking it to see if Sonya or Paige had responded to her own regular attempts to make contact. Neither one had made any attempt to reply to her messages or calls. That Paige wasn't talking to her was far less of a surprise. She was so angry at all three of them after the incident at the hotel, and clearly wasn't joking when she told them where to go.
Mandy had just double checked the plan for their match that evening when she saw Sonya go into the locker room. She hurried in after her.
"Hey, you OK?" She asked. Getting not much more than a shrug from Sonya.
"Yeah. I'm fine."
"You sure? You seem down?"
"Don't worry about it. Sorry I haven't been in touch for days. Fancy grabbing a drink after this?"
"Sure, but listen. There's something I need to tell you. After tv Monday, So e thing happened with Paige." Mandy started to explain the situation, but didn't get the chance. As though she heard her name, Paige entered the locker room. She immediately locked eyes with Mandy, and then Sonya. She quickly looked away and walked past them, setting herself up at the other end of the room, greeting and starting to chat with Alexa Bliss.
"What happened with Paige? Why is she ignoring us and changing at the other end of the locker room? Actually, I don't care." Sonya said, oblivious to the events of the other night.
"Well, you probably won't believe this, but she..." Mandy started, but she became aware of the approaching Sasha Banks and Bayley. "Hi!" She greeted them, not wanting either of them to know anything about what was happening with her two teammates.
"Hi, want to go out to the ring and work on some stuff? I know the focus of this 6 woman is Alexa and Paige since they are going to Mania, but that doesn't mean that we can't show what we can do and give the fans a good show right?" Bayley said.
"I'm trying to lobby Vince for the four of us to have a tag match on the big stage, so we don't all end up in the battle royal." Sasha said, rolling her eyes.
"Well, it's our first Wrestlemania, so I'll be happy with anything, even if it's just being in Paige's corner for her title match." Mandy said.
"Yeah, I don't just want to be her sidekick with 80,000 people in the arena. We should get our chance too. Let me know if I can help Sasha." Sonya said, with a tone that told Mandy she was still angry with Paige.
"Great, let's go." Sasha said and the four headed out to try and get some time in the ring before the fans were let in. Paige smiled as she saw them go, focusing on planning her big match with Alexa.
It was at Gorilla that the three of them had to be in close quarters, waiting for Alexa to complete her entrance before they went out.
"Hi Paige." Mandy tried to make contact but go little more than a huff.
"What's your problem?" Sonya said accusingly as Paige's music began to play in the arena.
"Go!" Hunter said from his position running the show, stopping Paige from turning round to respond. Instead the three went through the curtain and put on their entrance for the fans like nothing was wrong, although Mandy saw each of her partners cast a death stare at the other.
Things got worse early in the match, as Paige made a violent tag to Sonya, smacking her hand like she wanted to take it off. Sonya entered the ring with another evil look, but Mandy quickly whispered in her ear "Focus" and she turned back to her opponent.
Mandy played peacemaker through the match until the time came for their six person spot. Mandy joined Paige for a double suplex on Alexa, but Bayley joined to even it up. Sonya was meant to leave Sasha on the outside to give her team the advantage but slipped on the apron and fell back to the outside. Sasha quickly jumped in and called the suplex without Sonya, Paige and Mandy taking the bump as they planned to. Sonya got in the ring and helped Mandy up, ready for the next spot, designed to create friction between Sasha and Alexa, playing off their long rumoured personal feud. But Paige got up and pushed Sonya hard into the corner.
"What's the matter with you?" She shouted, far too loudly. Sonya saw red and pushed Paige back even harder, knock ring her back so she landed on her butt. She wasn't down long, getting up and slapping Sonya.
"You bitch!" Sonya screamed as she went for a punch, but Mandy got in between them. "What are you doing?" She said, addressing both. Their three opponents tried to get involved, to turn it into a brawl.
"We gotta finish. Roll me up." Mandy whispered to Alexa. The reigning champion got the message and obliged, the ref counting three to end the match. Mandy rolled out of the ring and got Sonya to follow her as Alexa's music played. She put an arm around her and walked her up the ramp. Paige was following, selling her frustration, but Mandy knew there was nothing fake about it as they went through the curtain and Paige went out their sight.
"You two, don't you even think about moving." Hunter said as they re entered Gorilla. When Paige came through she was told the same. The other team were dismissed with speed when they finished their celebration and came through.
The three stood there while the next match was sent out and then Hunter came to them. They could see his face was red with anger.
"It's already on Twitter, it's hitting the websites, by morning it'll be a big story. Nobody believed that was in the script. You know why?"
"Because it wasn't, sir," Mandy responded. The other two still had an annoyed look, but neither dared to act on it.
"Because it wasn't. Thank goodness that wasn't TV, or everything we have been building for Wrestlemania would have gone up in flames. Do either of you have anything to say for yourselves? Well, do you?"
Paige and Sonya looked at the floor. Both were well aware that they had screwed up. "No sir, sorry sir." Paige mumbled, being far more formal with Hunter than they usually were.
"Well I am going to make this crystal clear for both of you. I will find a way to fix this by Monday and we will shoot something to put it right. You two are off the rest of the live events for the weekend. Sorry Mandy, that means there wont be anything for you either. You are both fined $2500, and if there is any reoccurrence of this behaviour, in public or in the locker room, Paige, you will lose your Wrestlemania match, Sonya, you will be sent back to NXT, and both of you will be suspended for 30 days without pay. I'm not going to ask if you understand, I'm going to expect it. Now get out of here, I've got a show to run."
All of them knew not to say anything more and left with haste. They were walking through the corridors in silence until Mandy saw an unmarked room with a desk and chairs outside.
"Right we all have to talk. Right now." She said.
"Forget it, I've got nothing to say to her." Paige huffed.
"How about sorry you slapped me in the ring?"
"You are the one who pushed me over!"
"Stop it!" Mandy shrieked, before returning to a normal tone. "Like it or not, we are a team. We have to be ok, or we are all screwed."
"You aren't." Sonya said flippantly.
"I got taken off the events because of you two. You think I'm going to be ok if you go back to NXT? I'll get lost in the shuffle, probably become a fixture in catering. Now please get in there Sonya, for me."
Sonya looked at her friend, then rolled her eyes and went into the empty room.
"Your turn. She said, standing up to Paige, who reacted exactly the same.
"You two are so right for each other" she said to herself. She pushed the door closed behind the two and jammed one of the chairs under the handle, jamming it closed.
Seconds later she felt the door being tested. "What the hell Mandy?" Sonya shouted.
"You two are going to get this sorted, and you aren't coming out till you do." Mandy shouted back through the door.
"Don't be stupid Mandy!" Paige shouted back. "She doesn't want this, and neither do I!"
"Yes you do, both of you do!" Was the response. Mandy checked nobody was in earshot before deciding to go for broke. "Sonya, Paige has feelings for you. She admitted it, and would have told you, but she saw you with that bitch Chloe. She's the one for you, not Chloe."
"What are you doing?!" Paige screamed.
"Paige, Sonya only called that woman because she was so hurt by being rejected by you. I promise you that she doesn't want her. She wants to be with you just as much as you want to be with her." Mandy heard nothing from the other side of the door. "Now, discuss." She said, taking a seat on the other chair.
A.N: Thanks for reading.
A shorter chapter than usual I admit, but this was the best point to stop. A bit of a cliffhanger, but the next chapter will not be very far away. I've finally gotten a chance to write again, and I'm having a blast, I just hope you are enjoying it too. The follows and reviews mean a lot.
So the cat's out of the bag now. Mandy is forcing the issue, to save her own job as much as the others. Will it get them to talk honestly, or will things get worse? Let me know what you think.
