The Deville You Know Ch10
Inside the room, Sonya and Paige stared at each other. Mouths open, but not talking for minutes. Neither knowing what to do or what to say.
"You saw me with Chloe?" Sonya finally got out looking at the floor again.
"Yeah, I did. You were leaving the restaurant and going to the elevators. You looked cosy. More than cosy, I bet you got some that night didn't you!" Paige said, anger building again as she ended up basically shouting.
"Is that your business? Why were you there watching me anyway? Was it what Mandy said, or are you just shoving your nose into my love life?"
"I, well, I'm not, you know what, you didn't answer the question!" Paige struggled to keep the upper hand in the argument.
"Neither did you!"
"I asked first!"
Outside, Mandy rolled her eyes, wondering if this will ever end, and if they were going to revert to childish name calling, they were certainly well on their way.
"Are you that stubborn?" Sonya shouted.
"Don't talk to me like that!" Paige retaliated.
"I can do whatever the hell I want!"
"Yeah, and I bet you did with that woman, what was her name, Chloe? I hope you two will be very happy together. Not get out of my way." Paige said, going to the door, trying to force it open
"And here we are again, we are just going in circles!" Sonya saw her pushing against it, even given a shoulder charge, and realised she had to be honest if they were getting out of this room. "And if you really have to know, I didn't do anything with her."
"Yeah, right. Mandy open this damned door!" Paige kept trying but it wouldn't budge.
"No, we went to my room, things nearly got serious, but I couldn't do it. I told her to go, and I should never have have called her in the first place." Sonya said calmer, almost sad, and Paige realised it. She stopped banging on the door.
"So what happened?" Paige rubbed Sonya's arm as she saw that saying that had caused some upset. She could also feel herself tense up, as there was an answer that she really hoping for, even though she was struggling to admit it.
"I won't lie, I was looking for something to happen with her, but as soon as we started kissing, I knew that it was a mistake. I stopped it and told her to go. She was angry at me, and she should have been, I led her on. But sleeping with her would have been such a mistake. I'm glad I didn't."
"You looked really into her when I saw you." Paige said, still a little venom in her voice.
"I was once, but she wasn't right for me, isn't right for me. But can we not talk about her anymore, I can tell it's making you mad." Paige didn't say anything to that point, knowing it was true. "So, your turn. Mandy said you were going to tell you how you felt when you saw me with Chloe. Were you really, or is she making it up to make us talk?"
Paige turned to face the wall, looking at the floor as she put her hands high on the wall, not finding the words despite knowing what she was wanting to say.
Sonya came up and put her hand on her shoulder, trying to be reassuring. "Come on Paige. We need this all out in the open now, for both our sakes. Talk to me. Were you really coming to tell me you had feelings for me?" Sonya held her breath, knowing she'd just gone all in.
A few seconds later Paige nodded her head, although she continued to hold herself up on the wall, not looking up.
Sonya wiped away a tear, feeling the emotion build up. "Then please, look at me, talk to me, not the floor."
Paige slowly turned round, red in the face. She didn't say anything more.
Sonya knew she had to help her if she was going to get anything more. "Then tell me now."
"I can't."
"Why not, why could you tell me then, and not now?" She asked.
"I don't know if I could have told you then, I never got the chance. I was dragged down by her out there, and Renee too."
"Why did they have to drag you?"
Paige let out a deep breath. "Because I was scared, ok? Truth be told, I don't want to risk dragging you down with me. You saw all the stuff reported on me from the last year. Most of its true, I'm so lucky to be here, and it's hard every day. If something happened, you know, with you and me, then I might bring you down with me, and I care about you too much to let that happen."
"You care about me?" Sonya asked.
"Isn't that painfully obvious by now?" Paige asked, a little exasperated.
"Then why don't you let me make that decision for myself. I'm my own woman, and I'm strong, just like you. You had to fight to get back, and I had to fight to get here. I'm not letting it go for anything. Neither are you, right?"
"No way." Paige said, with a bit more confidence.
"So what's stopping you?" Sonya said, arms wide for emphasis.
"After all this, you're still interested?" Paige still sounded withdrawn.
"Paige, I sent Chloe away because she wasn't what I wanted. Isn't it clear what I want? What I've wanted since the night I met you?"
"Say it." Paige challenged.
It want a hard challenge for Sonya. "For the love of...I want you, you mad woman! I think we could be great together."
"But, you know I've never been with a woman right? That doesn't put you off?" Paige said, making Sonya laugh gently.
"Of course I do. I'm not asking you to jump into bed with me for goodness sake. I'm saying I like you. I like you a lot and I want to see where this can go. What's wrong with that?"
"Nothing."
"So?"
"So what?" Paige looked confused.
"You're cute, but you're not getting off that easy. I told you how I feel, now I need to hear how you feel. Cards on the table now. Complete honesty.
Paige looked into Sonya's eyes, suddenly she didn't feel as scared. "Fine, I like you too. I really don't understand what's happened to make me feel this way. I've never had feelings for a woman before, and it's weird, but that's how I feel."
"And there's nothing wrong with that." Sonya said reassuringly, taking Paige's hand, holding it between hers. "So there's only one more question, and then I think we can get out of here, no matter how you answer."
"What is it?" Paige said.
"What do you think it is? Paige, will you go on a date with me?"
"Paige laughed at her own stupidity. "Of course it is. And nothing would make me happier."
"Well we have nothing to do till Monday, how about tomorrow night?"
"Sounds good to me."
"Great, I'm thinking somewhere we can both have a drink, take those nerves away."
"Not too much to drink though." Paige said, a smirk on her face.
"No, I'm not planning to get you drunk." I'll text you the details and time tomorrow ok?" Paige nodded, her smile suddenly much bigger. Sonya was still holding her hand, and she brought it up to her lips, kissing it. "And that seals the deal, it's a date."
"It's a date, but we really have to get out of here if we are going to have a chance to make it." Paige said, removing her hand from Sonya's grasp and going to knock on the door. "Mandy?"
"Yes?" The blonde was still there.
"Open the door please. We talked and it's all sorted."
"Sonya?" Mandy called.
"Yep, all good, please open the door before it gets awkward again." Sonya called, the two laughing. Mandy heard the laugh and knew it was worth checking they were telling the truth. She opened the door, but stood in the doorway. "So, where are we?" She said with a raised eyebrow.
"I'll let her tell you, now excuse me, I have to get back to the hotel." Paige said. "I'll text you tomorrow?" Sonya called quickly, getting a nod as tried to get past Mandy and out the door.
Mandy wasn't convinced till she looked at Sonya and saw the look on her face. She stood aside and let Paige leave. Then went to her friend. "Well? Don't leave me hanging. Spill!" She said.
"I've got a date." Sonya said with a grin.
"All right! Good for you both. Now, we've got to get everything ready, come on, let's go."
Sonya followed Mandy out of the room. "Yes, got to make sure everything is perfect. Nothing can go wrong. Oh my god, what if something goes wrong?"
A.N: Thanks for reading.
I hope you are all still doing well out there.
A cliche maybe, but locking two people mad at each other in a room till they talk always works.
Now they are going to go on a date and see what happens. What do you think they will do, and will it go well, or be a disaster?
