Hi, guys! Thank you so much for your support in a time when its so hard for me to write.

So, this is the first chapter which doesn't follow an episode. This one is all mine, so be gentle.

Sorry for any errors, I read it before I posted it, but still. By the way, an amazing reader alerted me about one error in chapter 1 and I corrected it. Thanks for letting me know :)

The phone talks are in italic.

Disclaimer: None of the serie's plot or characters belongs to me. I only created Kate.

Enjoy!

Chapter 11

3ยช P.O.V.

The sun shines through the curtains, illuminating the couple who sleeps on the couch.

When the shiny light reaches Marcus' eyes, the vampire wakes up, finding Kate sleeping with her head over his chest, one of her hands grabbing his shirt and a leg between his. He smiled at the image and was about to close his eyes again when he look at the hours.

"Kate, wake up!" Marcus said, shaking her shoulder slightly.

"Five more minutes" she asked, snuggling even more to his chest and tightening her arm around him.

The way Kate pressed against him almost made him give up on trying to wake her, but one more look to the clock made Marcus try again.

"Kate, we're late for work".

This five words made Kate quickly open her eyes and try to get up, but since their legs were entwined, Kate fell back to Marcus' chest.

The brunette was over the vampire, their eyes locked on each other, their lips only a few inches apart and her hair falling around their faces like a curtain that separates them from the rest of the world.

Marcus raised his hand and put a lock of hair behind her ear, they leaned towards each other, their lips so close that they could fell each other's breath on their faces.

But, Kate raised her head, increasing the distance between them and said "I'm sorry".

"No, it's fine. We really need to go" Marcus said rising to a sitting position, that allowed them to untangle their bodies.

They set on the couch looking at each for a moment before Kate got up, Marcus followed her and they walked in silence to their rooms.

The brunette put on the first thing she saw, her mind too busy analyzing what had just happened to care about what she was dressing. She ended up with black jeans, boots and a blue sweater.

She quickly went downstairs, finding Marcus waiting for her at the front door, she grabbed her leather jacket and they left.

"Here. You can't skip breakfast" Marcus said handing over the apple he took while he was waiting for her.

"Thanks, Marcus" Kate thanked with a small smile.

They walked in silence the rest of the way, their minds replaying their moment on the couch.

"You're late" Miriam said as soon as the vampire and the human walked inside the lab.

"I'm sorry, Miriam, I overslept" Kate apologized, quickly walking to her table.

"We both did, actually" Marcus revealed, surprising Miriam.

"Vampires don't oversleep" she pointed out.

"Yeah, I know, but somehow it happened" he agreed, making the older vampire raise an eyebrow, but she didn't said anything.

After spending a few hours watching Marcus and Kate working together, Miriam called the vampire aside, while Kate was preparing some samples.

"Why are you two so award? Didn't you work things out?"

"Yeah, we did. Thank you for that, by the way" Marcus thanked and that the raised eyebrow of Miriam, he clarified "Kate told me that you explained her how clans work".

Miriam only nodded and questioned "What's the problem then?"

"Well, we spend the night watching movies and we fall asleep on the couch. When we woke up, we were close" he answered.

Miriam raised her eyebrow even more to the vampire's explanation "How close?"

"Very close" Marcus said "Like cuddling".

"That's it?" Miriam questioned, almost sounding disappointed.

The younger vampire hesitated, not sure if he wanted to talk with the older woman anymore.

"For god's sakes, Marcus! I don't have all day. Just say it!" Miriam demanded, tired of Marcus' half explanations.

"We almost kissed, ok!?" he exploded, surprising her.

"But she steped back" Marcus muttered, Miriam's expression softening.

"Maybe, you should talk with her about it" she advised and watched the younger vampire hesitate "She obviously likes you, so it must be something else".

Marcus looked surprised at Miriam, who walk away back to her table,

"Why did you do it?" Marcus questioned, coming out of his torpor.

"Did what?" she questioned stopping, but she didn't turned.

"Help fix things between me and Kate" he clarified.

"You're less intolerable when you're with her" Miriam said, looking over her shoulder.

"Is this your way of saying that you're beginning to like me?" Marcus questioned with a malicious smile as he watched Miriam walk away.

"Go back to work, Marcus" this was the only answered that Miriam gave to the young vampire's insinuations.

It was almost 4p.m. when Miriam said that the Bishop and Marcus could go home.

"You two can go. The results will only be ready tomorrow" Miriam dismissed them "We can't do anything without them".

"Bye, Miriam" Marcus said, already turning his back to leave the lab when he notice that Kate wasn't leaving with him.

The young Bishop didn't move from her place in front of Miriam, making the two vampires intrigued.

"You're going to stay?" she questioned the older vampire, who only nodded.

"But you said that there's nothing that we can do. You should take a break, you work too much" Kate advised, surprising the vampires with her worry.

After a moment of silence where Miriam didn't knew what to say to the young woman, she said "I'll just finish a few reports and I'll go home".

That seemed to tranquilize the human as she smiled and said "Ok. If you need anything just call us".

Kate prepared to leave and she was at the door of the lab when Miriam called her "Nice job with samples, Kate".

"Thanks, Miriam" the Bishop smiled with Miriam's compliment and followed Marcus out of the lab.

Kate and Marcus had just arrived home and were storing groceries, which they bought on the grocery after they left the lab, when Kate's phone ranged.

"Hey, sis! What's up?" the brunette said happy when she answered the call.

"Kate" Diana's tearful voice came over the speaker.

"Diana, what happened? Are you ok?" the brunette questioned worried, catching Marcus' attention, who immediately came to her side.

"My parents weren't killed by humans".

"What? How? What do you mean?" Kate kept questioning Diana, not understanding how what her sister was saying was possible.

"Hello, Kate" Matthew's calm voice replaced Diana's.

"Hey, Matthew. What's going on? What's she talking about?" the brunette asked confused, hopping that he could give her some answers.

"I analyzed the photographs of Diana's parents" the vampire started explaining "There's a chalk circle under the debris. They were staged to make it look like fear of devil's worship. Your sister's parents weren't killed by humans, they were killed by witches".

The revelation shocked the young Bishop and she vaguely felt Marcus' arm around her waist.

"Kate! Kate, are you there?" Matthew questioned worried with her silence.

Kate suddenly came out of her shock and the only thing she said before she hang up the phone and went upstairs was "I'm on my way".

The brunette's reaction surprised the two vampires and when Marcus arrived to her room she was already putting some clothes in a small bag.

"Kate, what're yo-" Marcus was interrupted by his phone ringing.

"Put me on speaker" Matthew said as soon as the young vampire answered the phone.

"Kate, there's no need of you coming here" the vampire claimed.

"No, Matthew" Kate said with a tone that didn't leave space for discussion "We agreed that if anything happened, I could go".

"Nothing happened, Kate!" Diana replaced Matthew on the phone "It's just new information about my parents".

Kate frowned her eyebrow at Diana's overly clinical tone and said softly "Diana, you just found out that witches, your specie, are responsible for your parents' death. It's not nothing!"

"Kate, I need time to process this" the older Bishop claimed, uncomfortable with the reminder that witches, like her, killed her parents.

"Of course. We'll do it together, like we have always done, sis" the brunette said softly, trying to convince her older sister.

"I don't want you to come here!" Diana's harsh tone surprised not only her young sister but also the vampires that were listening.

The brunette dropped a sweater that she had in her hands, shocked with her sister's words, the silence settled on the two sides of the speaker and no one moved until Marcus saw one tear slip down Kate's cheek.

The vampire quickly hang up the phone and went to Kate's side, they sat on her bed, his arms around the human's shoulders comforting her.

The Kate's phone ranged and Marcus saw Diana's name and photo popping up on the screen, he reached and tuned it off, plunging the room into silence.

*hiding* So, did you liked the second almost kiss of Kate and Marcus?

In this chapter we have a lot of MarcusMiriam interaction and I don't know if their relationship is well portrayed, please let me know what you think. I thought that they could get along better, because they have Kate in their lives (in different ways).

For the next chapter we have more MiriamMarcus and MiriamKate interaction, Kate and Miriam's girls night, drunk Kate and the story of Kate's last relationship. I'll do everything to post it as soon as possible, but honestly it might only be ready in 2 weeks.

P.S.: I just found out how to put the horizontal lines and I'm totally editing the previous chapters :)

Can't wait for your reviews!

Lots of love and be safe.
