The next morning, Olivia woke to a warm arm around her waist and the smell of her coffee already perking.
As she walked into her station house, badge on her hip, coffee in hand, she smiled as she remembered just what had happened after that arm traveled downwards and made her almost late. She was so lost in thought she almost missed the look of surprise and pure delight on her sergeant's face when he walked into her office.
"Fin. Good morning. What have we got?"
"Captain…did you have a good night? Anything you want to share with the class? See anyone special?"
Olivia looked at him quizzically, thoroughly confused why he looked like an eager curious puppy this early in the morning. She knew she wasn't spotting a hickey…this time she had made sure to cover it with makeup.
"My night was fine thank you. Now are you going to stand there and stare at me all day or fill me in?"
Fin quickly spouted of the details of their latest case while Olivia jotted down some notes and gave instructions. As soon as he left the room, Olivia shook her head confusedly, while Fin practically sprinted over to his phone. He whispered to Amanda to snap a picture of Olivia discreetly (more discreetly than he ever could- sometimes technology could be a real pain) and send it to him, then began dialing a number he knew by heart.
"Munch! Get your bony ass to a bank! I'm cashing in! They did it! Man, it's Stabler! Look at the picture I just sent you." Smirking, he texts the picture to a new group chat - Munch, Cragen, even Alex and Casey.

Munch's distinctive laugh could be heard over the phone. "Well I'll be damned. You were right. Listen man, I'll wire it over to you. And tell our girl we're happy for her will you?"
Nodding, Fin looked up, directing Amanda's confused gaze to Olivia's hip. "Fin what's got you so excited? So she grabbed her old badge this morning. She was probably tired this morning and didn't look."
"You don't get it Amanda. The number. Look at it. Her badge was 4015. That one says 6313. And badge 6313 belongs to Detective Elliot Stabler. She woke up this morning and put on ELLIOT STABLER'S badge. And that couldn't happen unless…That's who she's been dating. He's back…he came back…for her."
Amanda's shocked face melded into a one of understanding and compassion. "Oh. Oh wow."
Just then, Olivia walked out of her office, gaze directed at Fin. "Tutola. Care to explain why I just got several congratulation texts and some very… interesting emojis from half the old crew? What is going on sergeant?"
"Nothing Liv. I'm just really happy for you. It's about time you two got your acts together."
Liv stares at him, unsure how he could know. Except he seemed to…
"Did you take a step down, Detective?" Olivia looks at him like he's just grown a second head. "Detective?? What are you…?"
"Your hip captain. Take a look at your badge."
Grabbing it quickly, Olivia unclipped it and studied the numbers, ones that had always been aligned with hers, and ran her fingers over the engraving, blushing and looking up into her smiling sergeants face.
"I'm gonna kill him."
"Say it Liv, cmon."
She looked up into her friends eyes. "He came home to me Fin. And this time…this time he's mine. Elliot and I are in a relationship. We're…partners."
From Fin's hand, an excited yelp could be heard from the phone he had forgotten to hang up.
Rolling her eyes and chuckling at her squad's (both past and current) antics, Olivia picked up her phone to warn Elliot.
In the OCCB headquarters, Ayanna was similarly teasing Elliot for having suddenly been promoted to Captain.
