The man walked into a warehouse.
He heard someone walking towards him, and raised his hands showing his gun hands. "Who's there!" He demanded.
"Chill out man." Another male voice said. "We're all waiting."
The man didn't lower his hands. "Why should I believe you, and who's we?"
"I'll explain." A powerful voice rang out through the warehouse. "I want to hire you lot."
"What's the job?" A voice asked from the far side of the warehouse.
"I want you to kill someone. In exchange I will power up your Quirks, and the one who kills them will be given one million USD."
"Prove it" The man with guns for hands said skeptically.
"Come forward."
He walked up to the front.
"What's your name?" The man asked holding out his hand.
"Tōru." The man with guns said taking the man's hand.
They shook hands and Tōru became shrouded by light.
When the light faded Tōru's hands changed. Instead of guns for hands he had Shotguns for forearms.
"Here you go Tōru." The man said.
"What's your name?" Tōru asked.
"My name is Willis Todd, but you may call me Upgrade."
Everyone made their way up to the front of the warehouse, waiting to get their Quirks upgraded.
Once everyone's Quirks had been upgraded Willis looked out over the crowd. "Are you ready for your target?"
"YEAH!" The warehouse erupted in noise.
"You're target... Jason Todd!"
The room went quiet.
"The one who kills Jason Todd will get one million USD. If you kill his mother, Sheila Haywood, you will get half a million USD."
"Screw it!" A voice said. "For that much money I'll kill a kid!"
The group left the warehouse to go about their job.
Tōru went back to his house and went in after folding the shotguns back into his arms and changing his arms into hands.
He walked in and sat at his computer.
One of the good things about dumbing down how smart you were was that no one suspected how smart you actually were.
He Hacked into the cameras around Musutafu and looked for Jason Todd and Sheila Haywood.
He found that Sheila Haywood had been administered to the Hospital.
"Jackpot." He grinned an evil grin.
When Himiko woke up she was lying in a bed. She smelled antiseptic and began to worry. Was the last night a dream? Did her parents send her to a hospital?
"Hello." A wizened voice said.
Himiko looked over to see an old woman sitting at a desk.
The woman had grey hair tied into a bun with what looked like a needle sticking into it.
The woman picked a cane that looked like a needle up and walked over to her. "Hello, hello. How are you?"
Himiko glared at the woman.
"No need to be worried. You are safe. We are at UA High school."
"Where is the girl I was carrying." Himiko demanded
"She's over here." The woman said pointing her cane at a bed to Himiko's right.
Himiko stood up and looked at the girl. It was the first time she had gotten a good look at her.
She had blueish grey hair and a horn on her head.
Eri was back at the compound.
She was in her room when the door opened.
Overhaul stood in the doorway.
Eri pushed herself into the wall trying to get away from him.
Overhaul walked in and grabbed her arm before dragging her out of the room.
Eri was taken to the room where he broke her.
He put her on the table and put a mask and gloves on.
She felt dread rise inside her.
The door burst open, and someone with kind eyes came in.
Overhaul grabbed the person with nice eyes and broke him.
"NNOOO!" Eri yelled.
"Now it's your turn." Overhaul said reaching for her.
The girl's eye's snapped open and she began whimpering and thrashing.
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER!" Himiko yelled.
"We didn't do anything." The woman said. "But the girl is traumatized, which is troublesome."
"YA THINK!"
"Stop yelling. You're scaring her."
Himiko stopped yelling.
"Thank you."
"Hello." The woman said to the girl. "Can you tell us your name?"
The girl turned to look at them. "Am I safe?" She asked breathing heavily.
"Yes."
"Where is the bad man?"
"The bad man?" The woman asked.
"The man who was chasing me."
"He's not here."
The girl seemed to relax after hearing that. "Where is the one with the nice eyes'? The one I ran into?"
"I'm not sure." Himiko said. "The bad man touched Jason's mom, and..."
"NO!" The girl yelled.
"What?" The old woman asked.
"He breaks things with his hands."
Himiko shuddered at remembering what the man had done to Sheila. At least she was alive... somehow.
"Can you tell us your name?" The woman asked.
"It's Eri."
"Hello Eri. My name is Recovery Girl."
"H-hello." Eri said stuttering for the first time.
"Are you scared of us Eri?"
"Y-yes."
"Get some sleep." Recovery Girl said kissing the top of Eri's head.
Eri laid back down on the bed as Recovery Girl left.
Himiko turned to leave but stopped when Eri grabbed her hand.
"Will you stay with me?" Eri asked with a quivering lip.
Himiko didn't know what to do. She decided to stay with Eri because she knew what it was like being afraid.
She hadn't been afraid in a long time. She learned that being afraid didn't help the situation, but she felt compelled to make Eri feel better.
While Himiko sat down next to Eri she thought about the events of the past day.
She met Jason, who didn't even think twice before helping her, even after she attacked him. She found an adult she might be able to trust. And she met this little girl that seemed to trust her. What was happening to her life?
Tōru walked to the back entrance of the Hospital Sheila Haywood was staying in, and snuck in.
He found her room after stealing the roster and crept inside.
He stabbed a doctor in the neck while he was looking over Sheila's medical chart making sure to cut through the Carotid Artery.
The doctor fell to the floor in a pool of blood, and he walked over to Sheila's bed.
He went to the heart monitor and placed a disk on the side.
He'd stolen the disk in case he needed it.
it was supposed to mimic readings on whatever machine it was placed on and buy you time to do your job.
He messed with the machine to make it look like Sheila had flat lined and waited.
He only had to wait five minutes before he Heard someone knock.
He aimed his shotguns at the door and fired.
Jason Jolted awake when he felt someone's hand on his shoulder.
"Whoa, whoa." A feminine voice said. "It's all right. You're all right. They just called you back."
Jason looked up blurrily and rubbed the sleep out of his eye's before looking up again.
"How did you sleep?" Miriko asked.
Jason got up and stretched, popping his joints and spine. "About as well as I could I guess."
"You must have been tired." Miriko said as they walked towards Sheila's room. "I went to get you something to eat and drink, and when I came back you were asleep. You slept all the way through your mom's exam."
They walked to Sheila's room, and Miriko knocked on the door.
Jason felt malicious intent coming from the door and pushed Miriko out of the way before powering up his armor just in time to take a gunshot to the chest.
The door exploded as a shotgun blast tore through it.
Miriko looked up in time to see the door explode, and Jason take a step back. "What the hell!" She yelled.
"Are you Jason Todd?" The man in the room asked.
"No." Jason said. "My name is Jason Haywood. Who are you, and did you hurt my mother?"
"See for yourself." The man said.
Jason walked in and saw a doctor laying on the floor with a pool of blood forming around his head. He looked at his mom and saw that her heart monitor had gone flat.
"What did you... DO!"
"Someone said he would pay me an insane amount of money if I killed you and your mom."
Jason tackled the man out of the room before punching him into a wall. "YOU'RE GOING TO TELL ME WHO PAID YOU!"
"Yeah. Right kid, and you're not fooling me by calling yourself Haywood. I know that you are Jason Todd, and once I kill you, I'll be able to retire a rich man."
"Who said that you were going to be able to kill me?!"
The man raised his arm, which was a shotgun, and aimed at Jason's head.
Jason didn't flinch, and grabbed the man's arm, turning it away from him.
Tōru felt a burning sensation in his arm. "What the hell! What's happening to my arm?"
"Tell me who paid you!" Jason yelled.
Miriko was working on getting doctors into the room and didn't notice what Jason was doing until doctors had gotten to the room. The man had somehow managed to shut off the machines. Sheila wasn't dead... Miriko was brought out of her musings by the man.
She looked over to see Jason turning the man's shotgun arm away from his head. "Tell me who paid you!" Jason yelled.
"Jason!" Miriko yelled. "Jason! Listen to me. Your mom is not dead! Do you hear me? She's not dead!"
"I just need a name." Jason yelled. "Tell me who paid you!"
"It was your Dad!" Tōru yelled. The pain was intense. What was this kids Quirk? Why didn't he check the kids Quirk? This kid wasn't normal. He should have cowered when he saw the gun. Why didn't he!
Jason's world shattered. He knew that his dad was a bastard, but why did he want him dead.
"WHY!" He demanded. "WHY DOES WILLIS TODD WANT ME DEAD!"
"He didn't say. He only said that he would pay me a lot to kill you. I only know that I wasn't the first, or the only one he hired."
"Come on." Miriko said. "Let the police take care of him."
Jason let go of the man's arm to reveal a molten handprint embedded in the metal.
Miriko walked Jason into Sheila's room and sat him down next to Sheila's bed, after he made his armor disappear.
Jason stared into nothingness while waiting for his mom to wake up.
"Jason Todd?" A man asked.
Jason looked up at the man.
"My name is Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi. I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions?"
"Um... Yeah. I guess. Yeah." Jason stumbled over his words.
"I only have a few questions so this should be quick."
"Um... All right."
"Can you tell me what happened to get you to the hospital?"
"I um. My mom and I were going shopping. A... uh. A young girl ran out of an alley. My mom and I were looking her over when a hand reached out of the alley and touched my mom." Jason took in a deep shuddering breath. "He um... he made my mom explode."
"He what?!"
"When he touched my mom, he uh... he made her explode. That's the best way I can explain it. I'm not entirely sure how best to describe it."
"Just tell me as best you can."
"I handed the girl to Himiko and told her to run after putting my phone on the location setting and called my homeroom teacher."
"Who is this Himiko?"
"She is this girl I found yesterday. She didn't have anywhere else to go, and I offered her a place to stay."
Tsukauchi looked at Jason. Most of that had been true. "What happened then?"
"The man um... he undid what he had done to my mom and told me um... told me that if I didn't bring the girl back, he would continue to kill my mom until I did."
"What did you do?"
"I um... I created armor that my Quirk allows me to create and fought him off."
"Do you have your Hero License or Provisional Hero License?"
"No."
"So, you willingly used your Quirk without the proper paperwork?"
Jason felt anger in the pit of his stomach. It wanted him to let it out. 'What the hell?! Does this guy realize that if I hadn't then my mom would be dead!? Does he really care more about a piece of paper than the safety of the people?! Is he a dirty cop?!
Tsukauchi had been a cop long enough to gain a danger sense, and right now his was screaming at him to run, hide, anything. Just get as far away from this kid as possible.
"Are you saying that you care more about a piece of paper than the safety of the citizens?" Jason asked in a dangerously low tone.
"No. I care about the citizens safety, but you can't go around using your Quirk like that."
Tsukauchi's danger sense was shrieking at him to run and hide.
"Because I used my Quirk my mom is still alive!" Jason's temper was rising. "What! Did you just want me to leave my mom to die like that and run away to find a Hero with the proper paperwork!"
"I need you to calm down son."
Tsukauchi's danger sense took over and he jumped out of the way as Jason's fist flew over his head.
"I'M NOT YOUR SON!" Jason yelled.
Miriko and the other cops froze and turned at that.
"Detective Tsukauchi." Miriko said. "Young Jason just found out that his father has sent killers after him. Maybe it's best not to poke the bear."
"Of course." Tsukauchi said. "We can finish this some other time."
"Don't bother." Jason snarled. "As far as you're concerned, I'm no better than a villain because I used my Quirk to protect my mom. So, either arrest me now, or don't come back!"
Tsukauchi looked at Jason. The boy really thought he was doing the right thing, but in a world like this, paperwork came before doing the right thing.
The cops left, and Jason sat down next to his mom's bed.
Miriko knelt next to Jason and rubbed his shoulder. It was hot. Almost uncomfortably so. "Tsukauchi was just doing his job you know."
"In a world where people get penalized for doing the right thing." Jason said.
"I don't agree with it, and I think you did the right thing, but there are laws used to protect people..."
"Where the fuck were the laws when my mother was blown to atoms!" Jason yelled.
Miriko rubbed Jason's shoulder. "Is there anything you need?"
Jason's stomach growled.
"I'll go get you something to eat." She spoke softly.
Jason sat in the silence of the room and shuddered as he watched his mom atomize in front of him on repeat. 'Someone has to do something to stop villains like that.' He finally decided.
Miriko walked through the hospital to the cafeteria. 'Poor kid.' She thought. 'He has the power to help people, but thanks to those stupid rules he can't even mom when she needs it. Shit! what can I do? He doesn't need this crap right now. What can I do to help him?'
She walked into the cafeteria and looked at hat was available.
"Could I get the Sushi roll, pot stickers , and a green tea." she asked.
She paid for the food and walked back.
'Should I tell him about when I was a Vigilante? I mean I don't have a problem with Vigilantes. Eraser doesn't. Would it be so bad for me to tell him?"
Miriko came back to see Jason staring at his mom's bed. "The cafeteria was still serving lunch." She spoke.
"Thanks." Jason said taking the box from her and tucking into the Sushi roll, pot stickers, and green tea.
"No problem." She spoke.
She went quiet for a second before deciding against it. "I have to get going. Is there anything you need before I leave?"
"No." Jason said. "Thanks."
"You're welcome." Miriko said before leaving.
Jason looked at his mom and felt like a piece of shit. "I'm sorry mom." He said finally breaking down and crying into her blanket. He clenched the fabric in his hands and sobbed.
"Shh." Sheila said combing her hand through Jason's hair.
Jason looked up at his mom.
"I'm so sorry mom."
"For what?"
"I hated you after you grounded me. I hated you. Then you were killed, and..." Jason cried. "I didn't want you to die thinking I hated you."
Sheila motioned for Jason to come closer.
Jason moved closer to his mom and she hugged him.
Jason returned his mother's embrace.
"Oh Jason." She said softly. "I'm sorry. You shouldn't be going through this."
There was a knock at the door, and a familiar voice rang out.
"Hello Sheila."
"Hi Haruto." Sheila replied tiredly.
"I was just coming to check if you were awake so we could run a few more tests."
"I'm awake."
"That's good. Hi Jason."
"Haruto." Jason declined his head.
"Let's get you to X-Ray then. You can follow Jason."
Jason followed Haruto as they pushed his mom towards the X-Ray lab.
Haruto and Jason lifted Sheila from her bed and placed her on the table.
Haruto took several X-Rays before sending them off to get developed.
"I'll try and get those developed as fast as I can." Haruto said before they lifted Sheila back onto her bed.
"Thank you Haruto." Sheila said.
"It's my pleasure Dr. Haywood."
When they finished with the X-Ray lab, they went to the MRI lab.
Jason and Haruto lifted Sheila into the MRI machine and Jason waited by the machine while Haruto went to the computer and began the MRI.
After he finished the MRI, he sent the results off, and they moved Sheila back to the bed and went to the CAT scan lab.
When they arrived Jason and Haruto lifted Sheila into the CAT Scan machine.
Again, Jason stayed by his moms' side as Haruto went to the computer.
He finished and sent those off too.
"Well, the good news is that we are done." Haruto said after he helped Jason put Sheila back in her bed.
When they finished, they walked back to Sheila's room.
"I'll get your results back as quickly as I can." Haruto said when Sheila was back in her room.
"Thank you." Sheila said.
"You're Welcome." Haruto said as he left.
Sheila looked at her phone. "Is it that late already?"
Jason created a watch and looked at it.
The watch said 5:30 PM.
"Apparently." He spoke.
"You're going to have to leave soon."
"I'm not leaving." He said resolutely.
"Jason. You're old enough that you don't..."
"It's not because of that."
"Then what is it?"
"Willis Todd is trying to kill me."
"He's what!" Sheila said before a cough escaped her.
"He's sent people after me hoping to kill me."
Sheila was at a loss for words. "I don't know what to say. Why would he do that?"
"I don't know. Maybe because he thinks that he's my biological father?"
"He's not. Willis Todd is not your biological father."
"He seems to think so."
"Well, he's not." Sheila said. "I'll tell you tomorrow, but you should go now."
"Okay, okay. You don't have to tell me." Jason said emphasizing the last word. "I'm still not leaving in case he tries something else."
"You would be putting the rest of the patients in danger." Sheila pointed out, knowing he would back down at the thought of endangering innocents.
"Fine." Jason said with a hint of bitterness. "I'll leave, but I'll be back tomorrow."
"Okay."
Jason left the hospital and walked to the subway.
He got off when he reached his stop and walked home.
When he got home, he went to his room and opened the various panels around his room.
Most of the panels in his room had trophies he'd collected since coming to this world.
The first trophy he'd ever collected was a pipe from that day in the park ten years ago.
Others consisted of things he found while visiting Villain attacks or just while walking home from school.
He found a few of his trophies while cleaning Dagoba Beach.
The most recent one was a chunk of rock from the USJ incident.
He took out the Phlebotomy equipment and began filling blood packs.
He found a vein and punctured it with practiced ease before he started filling the blood packs.
While filling blood packs, he called his phone.
Anna, Elsa, Izuku, Johnny, and Rogue were sitting in the teachers' lounge waiting for either Aizawa Sensei to come get them or Jason to call them.
"What are we waiting for?" Anna asked.
"We are waiting for Aizawa sensei to get back." Rogue said. "Or to hear from Jason how his mom is doing."
"He's been gone for hours though."
"He's been gone for..." Rogue looked at her phone and saw. "... Holy. It's already six thirty. We've been here for six and a half hours."
"Seriously?" Johnny said. "No wonder I'm so hungry."
"Has Jason called?" Elsa asked.
"Not yet."
"I hope his mom is doing okay." Anna said.
"You've been really quiet Izuku." Johnny said. "What's wrong?"
"I'm worried about Himiko and that girl."
"I know what you mean sugar." Rogue said. "Jason knows when something is wrong. Something must have happened to Himiko and the girl."
"Did you guys notice how Himiko was acting when she looked like Jason?"
"She was afraid of us." Johnny stated.
"Yeah. Almost like she suffers from anti-social tendencies." Rogue added. "If not something worse."
"I wonder..." Anna began, but was interrupted by Jason's phone ringing.
"Jason!" The group said as Rogue accepted the call.
"How's your mom?" Anna and Elsa asked in unison.
"What happened?" Rogue asked.
"Who's Himiko?" Johnny asked.
"Who's the girl?" Izuku asked.
"Hold on guys." Jason said. "One at a time."
"How's your mom?" Anna asked.
"She was fine when I left the hospital."
"What happened?" Rogue asked.
Jason told them about finding Himiko the night before, and how they went to the hospital, and how they got home. He told them about the morning, and Himiko's situation.
"Wait, wait, wait." Johnny said. "You're telling me that you found Himiko's parents and threatened them to give custody of Himiko to your mom?"
"Yeah."
"AND IT WORKED!"
"Yeah."
"Dude. You're crazy."
"I have been told."
"What else happened?" Izuku asked.
Jason continued by telling his friends about his and his moms' conversation, and how he began feeling negative emotions towards her until the girl ran out of the alley and the guy made his mom explode.
"WHAT!" His friends shouted in unison.
"Yeah." Jason said. "One second my mom is standing there looking at me, and the next she is a smear..." He stopped talking. "Sorry."
"How is she alive now?" Rogue asked the difficult question.
Jason told them how he gave the girl to Himiko, called Aizawa, activated his location on his phone, and suited up before attacking the man, and how the man pulled his mom back together before Jason tackled him into the alley.
"Weren't you afraid of him touching you?" Anna asked.
"I sort of wasn't thinking." Jason admitted. "My entire thought process was to make him pay for hurting my mom."
"I understand that." Johnny said. "I'd Penance stare the hell out of the guy who did that to my mom."
"I'd fly up as high as I could before dropping him." Rogue said darkly.
"I would break every bone in my body before I would be done with him." Izuku said darkly.
Anna and Elsa hugged each other tightly not wanting to talk about their parents dying.
Jason continued talking about how Miriko helped him get to the hospital after the misunderstanding was cleared up.
"You got kicked in the face by Miriko and walked it off!?" Rogue asked. "How? She kicks concrete for her training warm-up."
"I'm a bad ass." Jason said with an air of cockiness.
"Right." She said sarcastically.
Jason's tone darkened as he told them about the guy who was paid to kill him.
"Your dad did WHAT!" Johnny yelled becoming the Rider.
"He's hired people to kill me." Jason said before they heard the keys of a keyboard clicking. "I'm going to find out why."
"I guess that you're going to use the 'bat cave' or whatever you call it?" Rogue asked. She had gotten a memory of it when she touched his hand at the USJ, and she meant to ask about it, but forgot to.
"Yeah." Jason said. "And you're lucky my phone is encrypted with encryption codes used by Batman from my other life or I'd be more than a little pissed off."
"Why?" Johnny asked.
"My mom has no idea that I know half of the stuff I do. Back in my previous life I learned how to use computers from Ma Gunn and Batman. I know how to hack and code, and I can do it from my phone."
"So, you're saying that 'the Bat cave' is a program?" Izuku asked.
"No." Jason said. "It's just my room, only with a few changes."
"Like what?" Anna asked.
"Right now, it's my laptop, and panel's I have on my wall removed."
"What's under the panel's?"
"Currently. Medical supplies, and trophies."
"I didn't know apartments had panel's like that." Izuku said.
"I didn't know at first, but it's what inspired me to remake the Batcave."
"Is there a point to this?" Rogue asked.
"Yes. I'm going to find out why Willis Todd..." Jason stopped talking.
"What is it Jason?" Rogue asked.
"I'm going to kill him." Jason said in a low, dark voice.
"What is it? Jason, what's wrong?"
"Look up Willis Todd online." Jason said darkly.
Rogue looked up Willis Todd on Jason's phone and saw:
Willis Todd runs for senate.
Appear on the first article.
"Your dad is wiping the slate clean of any of his Past mistakes." Johnny said numbly.
Rogue and Anna were close enough to slap him, but Elsa froze his head.
Johnny became the Rider thawing his head before rubbing his head. "Sorry. That's not what I meant."
"No worries, but I think I know what I'm doing this summer."
"Don't do anything you'll regret." Rogue advised. "You're hurting right now. Come to UA. That's where we are. That's where Himiko and the girl are. Come here so you are with friends. you can spend the night at one of our houses."
"Yeah." The others agreed.
"Fine. Come pick me up."
"I'll be there shortly." Johnny said getting up to leave.
"See you soon." Jason said hanging up.
"Yup." Johnny said walking outside the Teachers' lounge.
"Be safe." Rogue said.
"Yup." Johnny said waving.
After he left Anna turned to Elsa. "Can you make him?" She asked with a slight blush.
"Who?" Elsa asked confused.
"Olaf."
Elsa felt embarrassed, and happy at the thought. "Why haven't we thought of this before?"
"I don't know. It seems like something we should have thought of before today."
"Let me see if I can do this." Elsa said concentrating.
"What are you doing?" Izuku asked.
"You'll see." Anna said with a giggle.
Elsa weaved her arms through the air and snow began flowing before a snowman formed.
"What kind of snowman is that?" Izuku asked.
"It's Olaf." Anna said.
"What's an Olaf?" Rogue asked hesitantly.
"Hi." The snowman said. "I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs."
"The hell!" Rogue said jumping back.
Elsa pointed at Olaf and a snow cloud appeared above the snowman. "There. Now you won't melt."
"YAY!" Olaf said running to hug Anna and Elsa.
Anna and Elsa hugged Olaf back.
Olaf ran over to Izuku and waved. "Hi. I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs."
"Hello." Izuku waved back sheepishly.
Olaf ran up to Izuku and hugged him.
Izuku looked up at Anna and Elsa who mimed hugging. So, Izuku hugged Olaf.
Rogue looked at the snowman and wasn't sure how to feel about it. "How did you do that?"
"Magic?" Elsa shrugged.
Olaf ran up to Rogue and reached up towards her. "Hi. I'm Olaf and I..."
"I heard. You like warm hugs."
Rogue Knelt down and reluctantly hugged Olaf.
"YAY!" Olaf cheered.
"Now we just have to get Jason and Johnny to hug him." Anna said.
"Good luck." Rogue laughed.
The door opened and Aizawa Sensei walked in. "We have come to a decision about the girl... What is that thing?"
"Hi." Olaf said. "I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs."
Aizawa looked at Elsa.
"What?"
"This is an irrational use of your Quirk... to alleviate your boredom."
"Not true." Elsa said. "He could be used to help comfort small children, and people who are scared."
Aizawa looked at Elsa before turning around. "Follow me."
The group followed Aizawa to the Infirmary.
Aizawa knocked on the door, and they heard. "Come in."
They went in to see Recovery Girl sitting at her desk with Himiko, who was wearing a hospital gown, sitting next to the girl.
"Is she awake?" Aizawa asked.
"Yes. She's awake right now."
"Martin. Test your theory."
"Right." Elsa said. "Olaf. There is a girl over there who might want a hug."
"Okay." Olaf said waddling over to Himiko. "Hi. I'm Olaf, and I like warm hugs."
Himiko looked at the... thing. "I'm Himiko, and I like stabbing people."
Eri looked at the thing standing next to her bed and didn't know what to make of it. "What is that?" She asked Himiko.
Olaf turned to Eri and waved. "Hi. I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs."
"Hello Olaf." Eri said.
"Can I have a hug?" Olaf asked.
Eri got out of bed and hugged the snowman. It was cold, but also warm at the same time.
The friends and adults saw that Eri wasn't smiling.
"What's wrong?" Rogue asked.
"She's suffered from intense emotional, Mental, and physical abuse." Recovery girl said sadly. "She's only five years old."
Anna and Elsa covered their mouths while Rogue and Aizawa felt rage in the pit of their stomachs.
"Hey." Elsa said. "My name is Elsa. "What's your name?"
Eri pushed into Himiko to try and hide.
Elsa raised her hands in a non-threatening gesture. "You don't have to be afraid. We won't hurt you. Can I show you something?"
Himiko didn't know what to do. She had no experience in this area. Last night was her first experience with positive human contact.
"Watch." Elsa said stepping on the floor and creating snow in the infirmary.
Eri looked up as snowflakes began landing on her. She looked up to see snow falling.
"Oh." Eri said in awe.
"Yay." Olaf said jumping up and down excitedly. "It's snowing!"
Eri looked up at the snow in awe, but still, she wouldn't smile.
"That didn't work." Elsa said sadly.
"Maybe Jason will be able to help when he gets here." Rogue hoped.
Jason's phone chimed after a few minutes of watching Eri and Olaf play in the snow.
Ghost Rider: Where are you guys?
Rogue typed a response and sent it.
Robin: The Infirmary.
They watched as Jason's phone registered it was responding.
Ghost Rider: Got it. On our way.
They waited for Jason and Johnny outside the Infirmary.
When Jason and Johnny got there. Rogue, Anna, and Elsa hugged Jason.
Jason returned their hugs and fist bumped Izuku.
Aizawa came out and talked to Jason.
"How is your mother Todd?"
"Haywood." Jason corrected.
"What?"
"My last name is Haywood."
"Why are you changing your name?"
"I refuse to share the name of the man who abandoned my mother and I and has sent people after me to kill me."
Aizawa became very quiet. "I see. I have some things to discuss with the principal. I will be back."
"Where's the girl and Himiko?" Jason asked.
They led Jason into the Infirmary where he saw Eri and Olaf playing in the snow while Recovery Girl and Himiko watched.
"Himiko catch." Jason said tossing Himiko a fresh blood pack, which she began drinking greedily.
"Oh, my go..." Himiko moaned in pleasure as she drank the warm, mostly fresh blood.
Izuku went beet red at the sound, and the others looked from Jason to Himiko, back to Jason.
"What's the big idea?" Recovery Girl scolded hitting Jason in the head with her cane. "Why did you give her blood? How did you get the blood? How do you know the blood isn't..."
"Shut up granny." Himiko said before draining the blood bag and tossing it in the trash can. "I need blood to survive, and that was the best blood he's given me yet."
Everyone looked at Jason.
"Care to explain?" Recovery Girl asked.
"I have stored blood, and she needed blood yesterday. I gave her some and made a fresh bag today. I thought she might want some fresh blood. I also brought the rest of my stock." Jason said pulling three blood packs from his bag.
Recovery Girl took the blood and put it in her refrigerator. "Everyone but Jason, Eri, and Himiko... get out!" She said sternly.
When everyone left Recovery Girl glared at Jason. "What's wrong with you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Storing blood!" She yelled hitting Jason with her cane. She noticed that Jason didn't even flinch. "Why are you storing blood?"
"In case I need a blood transfusion."
Recovery Girl rubbed her temples. "Stupid boy. You could hurt yourself by doing this."
"Sorry, but this turned out to be good for Himiko."
"Be that as it may. You can't be doing such reckless things."
"I'm sorry, but..."
"But nothing!" Recovery Girl said hitting him with her cane again. "You will not store blood by yourself again."
"Does that mean that you will help me?"
"Let me talk with Himiko."
Jason walked outside.
"Haywood." Aizawa said. "Principal Nezu wants to see you."
Jason went with Aizawa Sensei to Principal Nezu's office.
When they got too Principal Nezu's office, Jason walked in.
"Ah." Principal Nezu said. "Young Haywood. I am sorry to hear that your weekend has been going poorly. Rest assured that UA will do everything in our power to keep you, your mother, Himiko, and Eri safe."
"What do you know?" Jason asked.
"Jean was able to use her Quirk to tell us Eri's and Himiko's stories."
"Will that hold up in a court of law?"
"Unfortunately, no."
"Then how will that help?"
"Let me rephrase. We can help Himiko by taking her parents to court."
"Who is going to get custody of her?"
"UA would get custody of her."
"She won't like that. She has some serious trust issues."
"I don't blame her." Jean said. "She was locked in her room only coming out to see Quirk suppressors. When she was fed it was barely more than table scraps, and the only time she was given blood was when she took it from the Quirk suppressors and counselors. That is until last night. The poor girl was practically starving."
'I should have killed her parents this morning.' Jason thought clenching his fists in rage.
"What of Young Eri-Chan?" Nezu asked.
"What she went through was torture. She was ripped apart and put back together so many times that normal pain no longer registers..."
Jean was cut off by an intense wave of killing intent.
The teachers and principal looked at Jason who was vibrating with rage.
"Young Haywood?" Nezu asked.
"Maybe it's the fact that in the last twenty-four hours I have found a girl who was being abused and neglected by her parents, found a girl who was being tortured for who knows what reason, watched my mom killed before being brought back to life and hospitalized, and found out that my sperm donor wants me dead so he can wipe away any past mistakes. But It's made me realize that someone has to stop the villains."
"That's literally the point of this Academy." Vlad King growled out.
"You don't get it!" Jason snarled. "I wasn't referring to the other heroes that will come out of this school. I'm referring to me. I will become a hero that make the Villains think twice before committing a crime. I will be the reason villains become uneasy when the sun goes down because it means I come out to play, and rest easy when the sun comes up because they think I'm not watching. I will be the reason a madman will think twice before he beats a child to near death before blowing him to hell."
Jean saw a flash of a pasty white man with a crowbar.
"This resolve..." Nezu said."...I like it. You are going to make a fine hero."
"Did you say that your father wants you dead?" Midnight asked.
"Yes."
"WHAT THE HELL!"
"He's apparently running for senate and wants to wipe the slate clear of any mistakes..."
Midnight got up and stalked towards Jason.
Jason took a step back but stopped when Midnight held her hand up.
"I'm not going to hurt you Jason." Midnight put her hand on his shoulder. "You are not a mistake."
"Um... thanks. I already knew that. My mom already told me that."
"Never forget it." Midnight said.
"Okay. I won't."
"You may go now." Nezu said.
"Thank you." Jason bowed before leaving.
"What do you think Jean?" Nezu asked after Jason left.
"I think he's been through hell, and I'm surprised he's doing this well."
"I don't know if he's really meant to be here." Vlad said. "He's starting to sound like a villain."
"Are you kidding me Vlad?" Midnight asked. "You heard what's happened in the last twenty-four hours. If anything, he sounds more like a Hero than some of the Heroes we put out in the world."
"What makes you say that?" Nezu asked.
"Rather than killing he's restrained himself."
"Just barely." Vlad scoffed. "I say we throw him out before he becomes a full-fledged Villain."
"Do that." Aizawa said. "And he will become a full-fledged Villain."
"Yes." Jean added. "If you kick Jason out now, not only will he become a Villain, but he might become the very thing that destroys hero society itself."
Vlad looked at the door.
Jean felt a feeling from Vlad that she couldn't describe. It felt like fear, but also something else.
"I believe we can call it a night." Nezu said.
Everyone but Jean left.
Once everyone was gone Nezu made a pot of tea. "Did you find anything?"
"A few things."
"Start with the bad news."
"Jason thought that he should have killed Himiko's parents when he visited them this morning."
"I am glad that he didn't."
"So, am I, but don't you think it's disturbing that he went and saw them this morning?"
"What did he do?"
"He broke her father's leg and forced him to sign custody of Himiko over to his mom."
"That is serious, but you know more about Himiko's situation than I do." Nezu held his hand up. "Please do not show me. Himiko should be able to keep her dignity."
"Then you felt the Killing Intent roll off Jason."
"Yes. That was distressing."
"It was after we told him about Eri."
"What do you think it means?"
"He obviously has issues with children being hurt."
"What do you make of it?"
"I caught a flash of a pasty, pale man with a crowbar."
"Do you think...?"
"I hope not."
"That is very troubling."
"So is the fact that his dad put out a kill order on him."
"Yes. We should put a stop to that."
"Agreed."
"Do you have more?"
"Yes. I saw a glimpse of the future. It's the farthest I've seen so far."
"How far?"
"Ten years."
"Your previous record was six wasn't it?"
"Yes."
"You are making excellent progress."
"Thank you, Sensei."
"What did you see?"
"I saw the Hero Board."
"Hmm. What did it look like?"
Jean took out a piece of paper and wrote.
1) Hero Team Green Tea: Dikeru the Dragon and Uravity
2) Raven the Rogue
3) Ghost Rider the Bounty Hunter
4) Icy hot: The Half and Half Hero.
5) Red Hood the UA Knight
6) Ingenium: The Rapid Hero
7) Dyno-Might: The Explosive Hero
8) Sentinel: The Guardian Hero
9) Yuki Onna: The Ice Queen
10) Naiad: The Water Sprite
Jean handed the paper to Nezu.
Nezu looked over the paper before memorizing it and burning the paper. "Thank you, Jean.
"For what?"
"We are leaving the world in good hands."
"There is a possibility that this future won't come to pass though."
"I'm sure that we can find a way to make this reality stay."
"How Sensei?"
"We will find a way.
Jason made his way to his friends after he left Principal Nezu's office.
When he got back to them, he found them sitting out in front of the infirmary.
"Hey." He spoke.
"What did the principal want to talk to you about?" Anna asked.
"He wanted to know what happened."
"Did you tell him?" Rogue asked.
"Yeah."
"I have a question." Elsa said.
"Shoot." Jason wiped his hand across his face.
"How are you so calm? I mean if I went through what you did, I would have shut down."
"Or run away and build an ice castle in the mountains while freezing the rest of the city?" Anna poked Elsa.
"That was only the one time." Elsa said. "Plus. Mama and Papa didn't help by telling me to conceal and not feel."
"What the fuck is it with bad parents?" Jason asked rhetorically, wiping his face.
Everyone looked at Jason like he'd grown a second head.
"What?" Jason asked a little harshly.
"You just dropped the F bomb." Anna said sheepishly.
"Oh. Sorry. I guess that this day is finally catching up with me."
"It's fine dude." Johnny said. "We understand."
"Hey Izuku." Jason turned to him. "How's Ochako doing?"
Izuku looked like he'd been hit by a truck. "I completely forgot to check!" He yelled pulling out his phone and texting her.
Izuku: Hey Uraraka. How are you doing?
The friends stood in silence until Aizawa sensei came to them. "It's late. Normally I would send you home but considering the last few days it would be completely irrational to send you home right now. So, the principal has decided that you will stay here tonight and go home tomorrow.
"Where Will we sleep?" Anna asked.
"Follow me."
The students followed Aizawa Sensei.
Aizawa Sensei took them back to the class 1A classroom where sleeping bags were on the floor.
"Sleepover!" Anna cheered.
"Call your parents and tell them what's going on. We have gym uniforms for you to use as sleep wear."
"What about toothbrushes and toothpaste?" Elsa asked.
Jason created toothbrushes. "Want to cool them off?" Jason asked Anna holding the toothbrushes towards her.
Anna put the toothbrushes in a bubble of water and watched as it began steaming.
The friends went to the respective bathrooms and changed before brushing their teeth.
After they finished, they went back to their homeroom and pushed the desks out of the way before sliding into their sleeping bags.
Anna sent a text to her dad.
Anna: Hey dad. Elsa and I are at UA. something happened. We will tell you about it tomorrow.
Dad: Okay. so long as you guys are safe. Text us if you need anything.
Anna: Okay. we will. Love you. Good night.
Dad: I love you too. Good night.
Elsa sent a text to her mom.
Elsa: Hi mom. I just wanted to let you know that Anna and I are at UA. We are with the others and are safe. We will explain everything when we see you tomorrow.
Mom: Okay. Be careful. Let us know if you need anything.
Elsa: We will. See you tomorrow. Love you. Good night.
Mom: Good night. I love you too.
Izuku sent a text to Inko.
Izuku: Mom. Don't worry. I'm fine. I'm with everyone. We are staying the nigh at UA.
Mom: What happened?
Izuku: I'll tell you tomorrow.
Mom: Are you all right? How's Jason!
Izuku: I'm fine. Jason is doing okay. I'll tell you tomorrow.
Mom: Okay. Be safe.
Izuku: I will be.
Mom: Good night.
Izuku: Good night.
Jason sent his mom a text. He wasn't sure if she would reply.
Jason: Hey mom. I'm at UA. Don't worry. I'm with my friends, and we are all spending the night here.
He waited for a few minutes before he supposed she was asleep for the night.
He thought about talking to a Divine Being, but with everything he'd seen, and experienced he figured that there was no such thing. What kind of Divine Being allowed all the evil around the world to exist? Did they do it because they got some twisted pleasure out of it?
If so, he refused to worship it.
Johnny text his parents.
Johnny: Hey mom. Dad. I'm at UA with my friends. I'll explain tomorrow.
Mom: Okay.
Dad: How's Jason?
Johnny: I'll talk to you tomorrow.
Dad: ? Okay. Talk to you tomorrow.
Johnny: Good night.
Mom: Good night. Love you.
Johnny: Love you too.
Dad: Good night.
Johnny: Good night.
Rouge sent a text to her mom.
Rogue: Hey mama. I'm at UA with my friends. Don't worry.
Mama: Are you guy's safe? How's Jason?
Rogue: I'll tell you tomorrow.
Mama: Okay. Get some sleep, and don't party too much.
Rogue: I won't. Good night.
Mama: Good night. Love you.
Rogue: Love you too.
After they talk to their parents the friends talked until one by one, they fell asleep.
Jason was the last one to fall asleep. He kept wondering what he could have done differently. If there was something else that he could have done to save his mom and Eri.
He kept wondering until exhaustion took over and he passed out.
