Dedicated to the memory of Michael Lee Aday better known as the singer Meat Loaf, 1947-2021. Rest in Peace and I hope for the best for his friends and family.
Lincoln was sitted at the couch in front of the TV just after 8PM along with Shaggy and Scooby Doo with enough snacks to feed an entire classroom, "Who would have thought that the only human staff member at a school for ghouls would turn out to be the coolest gym coach ever? Who else would sit with you to watch horror movies?" Lincoln asked as they were in the middle of watching the first Scream movie with a sigh. "I don't get it, the older boys at my old school said that this was meant to be a really scary movie and for a movie called scream, I don't really feel any screaming going along." Lincoln asked a rush of disappointment washing off him, his first horror movie experience really freaked him out but it felt like he was being taken out of the fun by not feeling affected by the scenes meant to be scary.
"It means that being in a ghoul school for quite some time, the effects of this horror movie has us like desensitised to horror movies. Truth be told I didn't find this movie scary either after spending years being chased by people wearing even scarier looking monster costumes, so I found Ghostface in what is meant to be a cheap Halloween costume more laughable." Shaggy explained and Lincoln thought that it made sense.
"Well if I had the choice between being able to be scared by horror movies an being here, then it's a no-brainer as I love this school and my fellow classmates. They have been great and I think that I handled this place like a pro in no time." Lincoln said in a bragging tone of voice and Shaggy and Scooby had been agreeing with the first part of his statement but upon him stating how he handled the school quickly, they then deadpanned at him.
"Really Lincoln?" asked Shaggy as Lincoln was confused.
"Reah, Really?" Scooby also asked as Lincoln was giving them a look.
"Come on Lincoln, can we please talk about how you settled into the school?" Shaggy asked and Lincoln cringed as he then remembered that:
Lincoln was still shaking upon meeting his new classmates despite how welcoming they were, he entered his room and sneezed at the dust and looked at the cobwebs. He honestly didn't know if the cobwebs were just part of the room or a sign that this room hadn't been used in a while. He then opened up the window and looked out desperate for air but then popping up from the floor right behind him was Phantasma.
"Need any help setting up your stuff Lincoln? Your room is just above mine so we are practically neighbours?" Phantasma offered with a smile causing Lincoln to jump and ended up falling out of the window screaming. He was practically inches away from the moat outside when he stopped and looked up to see Phantasma having flown out and caught his leg. "I don't think it's a good idea for a human like you to dive out to the water from your window but I like the idea Lincoln." Phantasma told him with a giggle.
"Plus the times in the first week that you ended up in the infirmitary like the first breakfast and also when Elsa was showing you her room." Shaggy reminded him and Lincoln gulped at that memory as well.
"Elsa saw that I was tired and offered me a seat and well... I wonder what my parents would think that I was in a school where there was a fully functional electric chair." Lincoln narrated wondering if he had legally died during that time.
"Plus the first full moon..." Shaggy brought up and Lincoln especially cringed at this memory:
The full moon was out and Lincoln was having his pillow covering his ears trying desperately and seemingly futility to block out the loud howling so that he could go to sleep. Finally fed up he opened up the window and shouted out "can you please stop that racket? I am trying to sleep!" Lincoln went to go back to bed but the howling continued. Due to lack of sleep he wasn't thinking clearly and picked up the soccer ball that Lynn had given him as something to remember him by at his new boarding school. He then threw it out of the window at the shape of whoever was howling with stunningly amazing accuracy.
"Took two days before Winnie was willing to talk to me after that..." Lincoln muttered thinking that during that two days the staff and students went to keeping the two of them apart while understanding that it was a misunderstanding. Truthfully he was reminded of the Sister Fight Protocol and his expectations of what would happen was met with confusion and looks at him as if he was being weird.
It was always nice feeling like the weird one at a ghoul school.
Luckily after the 2nd day Winnie had calmed down and was willing to hear him out and apologise, he was surprised that it was quickly accepted and Winnie treated him as if the incident had never happened. It was weird how nice and understanding they were once you had gotten past the fact that they were ghouls, their quirks and who their fathers were. They were even more amused than offended when Lincoln was scared by the staff or students wanting to turn him into a victim during the night before he went to bed for his first night there.
Winnie had even smiled patting him on the back saying that she won't say anything to her dad, Lincoln had then stood frozen in fear imagining the Wolfman wanting to talk to the human child who threw a soccer ball at the head of his daughter.
Lincoln and his coaches continued watching the movie wondering how his parents would take this, then again everything else about the school the fact that his gym coaches let him watch horror movies with them would probably be the least of their worries. "That guy Stu sounds kind of like you Shaggy." Lincoln pointed out and Shaggy groaned while Scooby laughed.
"Why does everyone keep saying that?" Shaggy muttered.
