"Auggie, have you seen your sister?" Topanga asked her son, and Auggie looked up from where he'd been doing homework.

"Not since this morning."

"Can you go get her for dinner?" Topanga sighed.

Auggie shrugged, getting up from the table and heading towards his sister's room.

Nobody knocked on Riley's door; she had no way of knowing if anyone did. Instead, if she didn't want people to come in, she simply locked the door. In that case, the person wishing to reach her would text her.

Auggie pushed open his sister's door to see Riley sitting in the bay window, intently reading something on her laptop as she chewed her nail.

He waved his hand up and down, and when Riley noticed him, he signed, 'What are you reading?'

'Stuff about cochlears,' Riley signed back, scooting over to make room for her brother in the bay window.

Auggie moved forward to sit next to her and looked over the website on her computer screen. Words like 'surgery' and 'success rate' jumped out at him, but he asked, 'Why are you looking for cochlears?'

'Mom offered for me to get one.' Riley sighed, closing her eyes for a second.

Auggie nudged her shoulder, and when she opened her eyes, he signed, 'Do you want to get one?'

'I don't know,' Riley admitted.

'Have you talked to Maya?' Auggie signed, and Riley bit her lip.

'I'm worried to know what she will say,' she signed back.

Auggie sat up straighter, remembering something that he was supposed to give to his sister. 'Farkle stopped by earlier, he left something for you. Let me go get it.'

Riley shrugged, her eyes falling back to her laptop.

Auggie headed out into the hall towards his bedroom, stopping when he heard his mother call from the kitchen, "Auggie?"

"Yeah, Mom?" He called back, his hand on the doorknob.

"Dinner is ready!"

Auggie nodded to himself; he had forgotten why he was even supposed to be in Riley's room. "We'll be there in a minute!"

Grabbing something from his desk, he headed back into Riley's bedroom before handing the object to his sister. Riley looked down at it, confused.

'What is this?'

Auggie turned the object over in her hands to reveal the note that Farkle had left, scribbled in his tiny, barely legible handwriting.

"Riley -

I've been thinking about this thing for years, but never got around to it. The lights in your apartment flash when someone rings the doorbell, but you don't have the same kind of privacy in your bedroom. This is a wireless doorbell. You stick it outside your door and it connects to the metal wrist-band. Whenever someone rings your room doorbell, the wrist-band will buzz three short times. You'll need some kind of adhesive to stick it to your wall.

Hope you like it.

- Farkle"

Riley widened her eyes, pulling the note off of the object and watching as the wrist-band fell into her lap with it. She handed the note to her brother to read, pushing the band over her wrist and studying the small button in her fingers. She pushed it, startling when the wrist-band buzzed.

'This is so cool,' Auggie marveled.

'We need some kind of double stick tape to put it up,' Riley informed him. 'Maybe Dad has some in the closet…'

As Riley pulled the note back to read it over again, Auggie looked towards the door. She glanced up from the note to see him staring, and tapped his shoulder. 'Do you hear something?'

Auggie nodded. 'Mom wants you to come out and eat dinner. She's been waiting for like ten minutes.'

A/N: I'm so sorry I've been so MIA! I had a lot of things going on in my family life and then I got blocked on all my fanfics in progress.

Thank you so much to Nenor-19 for reminding me to get back to writing! You are appreciated!

I'm hoping to get back to Petrichor soon too, but here is a new chapter of Anecdoche. I know it's short, but this is the general length of these chapters.

I think the next chapter will be about Maya teaching Lucas sign language. If anyone has any ideas or tips, I am all ears!

Review if you'd like! Feedback is always welcome and appreciated!

Kisses,
