Chapter 5, enjoy! (if you are a timeline person like I am, the day of the camp is in the chapter title)
Georgie was retuning Phoenix to his stall from her individual lesson was she saw a flood of notifications from the Show Jumpers snapchat group chat Quinn had added her to. She opened the app and scrolled the the start of the new messages.
Sent in the chat was a video of a bay horse approaching a jump. She clicked on the video and watched as the bay raced towards the jump but ducked out at the last second launching the rider over the fence. The message sent from Blaine with the video read: Quinn, it's easier when the horse goes over with you. Georgie's heart dropped. The video ended before he got up, what if he was hurt? Surely Blaine wouldn't joke about it if Quinn was hurt, but then again it was Blaine.
The next message read: You're just jealous Quinn is brave enough to climb on a stallion. We all know you ride a docile gelding, Blaine.
She couldn't read anymore, she had to know if Quinn was okay. She ventured to the wing of the stable that Shadow Shore was stalled in, the bay stallion was in his stall, but his owner was no where to be found. Georgie pulled out her phone and sent Quinn a message. Are you okay? she quickly typed out and sent.
She then hurried to the common area, maybe he was there. When she arrived in the common area all she found were a few riders working on their computer or chatting amongst themselves. Quinn was no where to be found. She double checked her phone for a message but was disappoint to find no response from him, and no sign he had seen her message.
Her mind was racing, where was he? Was he okay? Why do I care so much, I've only known him a few days?
She climbed up the stairs to her room with a nervous lump still residing in her stomach. When she entered the dorm style room, she found that her roommate was still down in the stable. She plopped down on her bed and tried to distract herself from this nervous feeling about a boy she met just a week ago's health. She scrolled through the channels on the TV but was disappointed to find that every show was spoken in German, French, or Italian; none were english speaking shows.
"So much for that," She mumbled as she switched it off. Luckily, she had packed her iPad that had Netflix downloaded on it. She opened the app on her iPad and turned on a show, but her mind kept wandering back to Quinn. She opened the chat with him and send him another message: Are you Okay? she asked again, adding two question marks for emphasis.
She returned most of her attention to her TV show, but she repeatedly checked her phone for a response. She was startled when the door to her room flung open. She quickly turned to face the door, and when she did she saw that Ellie had returned to their room.
"Have you heard from Quinn today?" Georgie asked Ellie before she even had a chance to get her boots off.
"No," Ellie replied. "I'm guessing you've seen the group chat?" She questioned.
"Yeah, it looked like he fell hard."
"Shadow is a handful, this isn't the first time he's dumped Quinn. Shadow has an outburst at least every other weekend during the circuit. He's probably fine," She replied.
"He's not responding to my messages," Georgie responded.
"You've got the hots for him," Ellie smirked.
"No I don't!"
"Sure you don't, you're just really worried about him-"
"Because we're friends!" Georgie defended herself.
"Please explain the blushing then," Ellie replied, pointing out the hint of blush that was creeping on Georgie's face.
"I-"
"You have feelings for him, just admit it."
"I don't," Georgie argued. But she got to wondering, maybe she did have feelings for him.
"Did you text him or message him on snap?"
"On snap," Georgie answered.
"He probably just hasn't looked on there, you want his number?"
"Uh-"
"Here," Ellie interrupted and sent Georgie Quinn's contact. Georgie typed out a text and send it. She sat on the bed, impatiently waiting for a response. "It's about lunch time, you want to go downstairs and eat?" Georgie nodded, checking her phone once again only to be disappointed to find no message from Quinn.
The pair made their way downstairs and began going through the buffet line. When they got their food, they found a seat at an empty round table. As Georgie was scooting her food around her plate with her fork, through the corner of her eye she saw a figure limp across the room. She looked up to see that it was none other than Quinn. She leaped out of her seat and rushed to his side.
"Quinn! Are you okay?" She exclaimed, startling him.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'll be a little sore tomorrow, but other than that I'll be fine," He replied. "How'd you know I fell?"
"Blaine sent a video in the group chat," Georgie responded.
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah, have you not seen it?"
"No, my phone didn't charge last night so I left it in room to charge. I haven't been up there since I left this morning because they took me to the hospital to check me for a concussion."
"That explains why you wouldn't respond to me."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to worry you," He apologized.
"It's fine. I'm glad you're okay," She responded. "I was really worried," She blurted out. Maybe I do have feelings for him?
So, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. Let me know what you think!
