Chapter 7, enjoy!
Georgie climbed the stairs up to her and Ellie's room after their group lesson. Everyone else was eating, but Dylan showing up pretty well ruined her day and desire to eat.
"Georgie wait!" Ellie shouted as she raced up the stairs. Georgie stopped and waited on Ellie to reach her. "So you know that guy?" Ellie asked once she finally reached her.
"Yeah," Georgie responded.
"He's hotter than Quinn, and Quinn is hella attractive," Ellie commented. "But that's beside the point. How do you know him?"
"Well, your source was right, he is from Canada. His aunt owns a stable in the Hudson, the town where I live, and she had my aunt work with one of their horses."
"So why the bad attitude about him?" Ellie asked. "If you know him because his aunt had your aunt work with a horse, why are you so against him?"
"It's a long, complicated story. Can we go to the room? I'll tell you there." Ellie nodded and followed Georgie back to their room. Georgie sat on the edge of her bed with an overwhelmed sigh.
"So..." Ellie prompted her.
"My aunt works with troubled horses. She had a client bring in a show jumping horse that had been traumatized in an accident. Amy, my aunt, was too busy with her newborn to work with him, so I did. The horse, Flame, and I bonded instantly. The owner gave me the opportunity to compete on him, and I agreed."
"What does this horse have to do with hot Canada boy?"
"Dylan, his name is Dylan," Georgie corrected her. "And I'm getting there. Around the same time, his aunt, Paula, brought my aunt another show jumper to work with. My aunt found that he wasn't cut out for jumping and convince Paula to see him as a bucking bronc, but that is beside the point."
"A bronc?"
"Like I said, kind of beside the point."
"Ok, go on then."
"Anyways, when my aunt gave her that proposition, she invited us to her big party at her mansion-"
"You know who has a freakin big mansion?" Ellie interrupted. "Quinn McGregor. His house is HUGE, and so pretty! I'm sorry, continue."
"That's where I met Dylan. Then he just kept appearing everywhere. He would show up at the diner I worked at or even at our ranch. Around this time I quit riding Flame and returned to riding Phoenix. His aunt then invited me to train at her stable, so I couldn't really turn her down. There were already posts about me giving up riding Flame and riding my "plow horse" instead on this website called Equestrian Gossip."
"That site is insane. There is so much trash talking and shaming," Ellie commented.
"I know," Georgie agreed. "And it only gets worse. One day I was practicing at their arena and Dylan was videoing so he could "review the runs" and my horse had a bad landing and sprained a tendon. He got the whole thing on video, and somehow his cousin, or so he claims, got ahold of it and posted it to the site."
"Oh my gosh... Georgie that's terrible."
"I got so much hate from it I almost quit show jumping all together and wanted to move to New York where my mom was currently working. And at this same time he started riding Flame. Then he got hurt, so his cousin that posted the video got to ride Flame."
"I definitely understand why you don't like him now. I mean he's hot, but it sounds like he could potentially be a jerk."
"He did come stay with me all night one night while Phoenix was hurt, but that was before the video was posted, and how I know that he didn't post the video."
"So he was with you when it was posted?"
"Yes," Georgie confirmed. "It was time stamped while he was with me."
"But he could've told her to do it."
"Yeah, I guess he could've."
"I'm on your side of this now."
"Thanks," Georgie laughed.
"I'll try and keep him away from you so he doesn't cause any problems," Ellie told Georgie as she sat beside her friend and pulled her into a hug.
"You're a good friend Ellie."
"I know," Ellie laughed. "Now, do you want to go eat?"
"Yeah, let's go." The girls headed back downstairs to eat their dinner. They scanned the room for a place to sit, and were shocked to see Quinn and Blaine eating with Dylan. Georgie sighed.
"We don't have to sit by them," Ellie told Georgie. "Look, there is an empty table in the back." They began walking towards the empty table in the back, but were stopped by Blaine's booming voice.
"Georgie, Ellie, we've got an extra seat!" He shouted.
"We don't have to sit by them," Ellie repeated.
"It's fine, I'll survive," Georgie replied as they turned around to sit with them.
"So Georgie, seems as if you've had a successful season," Dylan stated as she sat down.
"I have," Georgie simply replied.
"Your horse, Phoenix isn't it?"
"Yes." The tension between the two was evident to everyone.
"He looks to be doing good."
"He is."
"Have you seen them compete together?" Quinn asked, interrupting the tension filled conversation.
"I have, they're both very talented," Dylan responded with a smile.
"I have never seen a horse and rider as bonded as they are, and they're amazing in the ring," Quinn complemented. Georgie blushed and looked down at her plate. The rest of their meal was spent listening to Blaine and Dylan ramble on about the results of the World Cup Show Jumping Competition. Georgie and Ellie returned to their rooms and the boys headed to their own.
"That was awkward," Georgie sighed as they entered their dorm styled room.
"Yeah, I felt a little bit of tension."
"Oh, and do you mind keeping what I told you between us? That video and the comments are still on that website and I don't really want anyone to go and find them, if that makes sense."
"I totally understand, I won't tell anyone."
"I'm so glad we met," Georgie smiled.
"Me too," Ellie responded.
There you are! I hope you liked it, let me know what you thought!
