The next day, Tori began the next level of her training with Kanae. She was finishing up her breath training. Kanae explained the "Total Concentration: Constant" breathing technique and Tori already understood that it meant using the Full-Focus breath all the time without stop. Tori knew that if she was going to master this technique, she would have to get in the habit of being a light sleeper. Tori began practicing and training her body to use this new technique. She had one of the triplets help her with her training. She would meditate and even drink her signature herbal tea to increase her focus. This technique proved to be difficult to master, however, within two weeks time, she master the technique. She also became a light sleeper. Then she learned about "Recovery Breaths". While on a mission with Kanae, Tori had gotten injured by a demon. Kanae then began teaching her the recovery breath so she could not only stop the wound from bleeding, but to recover strength and stamina. Sure enough, Tori stood up and was able to walk, but running was a struggle due to her wound. Kanae took Tori back to the headquarters and treated Tori's injuries. Tori used the recovery time to write in her journal about her method of mastering the Concentration: Constant technique. After Tori fully recovered, she trained to get back up to speed.
Giyu and Rengoku came over when Tori was back at full strength. They were going to test Tori and see if she was ready to train with Rengoku. Tori sparred with Giyu again. Giyu now understood how Tori was beating him every time. So now, he was ready for her. This particular sparring match lasted longer than the usual sparring matches that they performed. Shinobu, Kanao, Aoi, and the triplets were all watching the sparring match. Then just as the match was about to begin. Shouta, Rikku, and Sakura were brought to the butterfly estate so they could be treated, however, they arrived at a bad time because the Kocho sisters were busy assessing Tori. Iguro and Mitsuri were the ones that brought them. Kanae invited the five of them to sit down and watch. Now that everyone was here, match was about to begin.
Giyu and Tori took up their stances and Tori stepped forward and leaped high into the air. Then Giyu did the same thing. He leaped into the air so Tori wouldn't have time to analyze him. Tori, caught completely off guard, dodged his attack by using her sharp reflexes. But then, Tori's haori caught an updraft and she was pushed up higher than she normally was. Giyu saw panic in Tori's eyes. This showed him that she had never gone that high up before. Giyu landed gracefully on the ground and he hoped Tori would be okay. Tori re-focused herself and she pulled out a crowbar that she found ealier that day. Tori had known that the wind was extra strong today and she knew she would have to be careful when she cut her ties to gravity. She then looked around for something to hook the crowbar onto. At this point, she started to free-fall. She found a lamppost just below her. She then aimed for it and got ready to hook the crowbar onto it. Her free-fall sped up as she made her body more streamlined and aerodynamic. They all watched in horror as Tori was about to hit the ground. But at the last second, Tori hooked the crowbar onto the extended part of the lamppost and she spun in a circle around it. She slowed her speed and she back-flipped off of the lamppost letting go of the crowbar in the process, which got stuck on the lamppost. Everyone let out a sigh of relief, even Tori released one herself. Then the battle continued. Tori and Giyu clashed several times as it progressed.
Giyu put pressure on Tori a lot, but she also put pressure on him. During the fight, Tori performed highly athletic maneuvers and ended up jumping higher than she wanted to. Then when she landed, Tori felt a sharp pain run up through her body starting from her ankle. Tori thought, Crap! I sprained my ankle. I must've landed on it wrong, but I can't think about that right now. I've got to stay focused. I'll use a recovery breath to reinforce the areas around my ankle. She then followed through with her plan. She used a recovery breath quickly and dodged Giyu's attack without much of a struggle. Unannounced to her, however, Giyu, Kanae, Shinobu, and Shouta all noticed that Tori seemed to be hurt. Kanae wanted to stop the match, but Tori just used a recovery breath to stabilize her ankle. This only assured Kanae that Tori was ready to start training with Rengoku again. Kanae kept the exam going just to see how Tori would perform. Tori still performed admirably, but her options were limited due to her hurt ankle. This made it easy for Giyu to overpower Tori and for once he actually beat her, but he didn't feel like it was a true victory. He was only able to overpower Tori so easily because she was hurt. He wanted to beat her fair and square without injuries. Giyu went up to Tori and the first thing he did was check her ankle.
"Are you okay, Tori? Let me see your ankle." Giyu said, "I just want to see how bad it the injury is."
"I'm fine, Giyu-san. I think I only sprained it." Tori replied, "It's not that serious. There's really no
need to worry about it."
Kanae came over and double checked the wound and agreed that it was only a minor sprain and it would heal up within a few days. As long as Tori stayed off her leg for awhile, her ankle would heal up rather quickly. Giyu helped to take Tori to her room and her ankle was bandaged and ice was placed on it to keep the swelling down. Tori, however, ended up falling asleep. Shinobu was tasked with watching her as she slept. Tori kept up the Total Concentration: Constant breathing technique and even sneaked in some recovery breaths to help her with her recovery. It was obvious that Tori was tired from the fight. It seemed like all she wanted to do was sleep because she wasn't waking up. Giyu and Shinobu discussed their concerns about Tori sleeping for this long.
"Jeez, she's still not waking up. She needs to wake up or she won't sleep tonight." Shinobu said, "We
need to wake her up. Now!"
"Don't be rash, Shinobu. It doesn't appear that Tori is in any kind of danger at the moment." Giyu
replied, "There's no doubt that she's exhausted from our spar match. It lasted longer than most of our
other ones. Let's leave her be and if she doesn't wake up in the next hour or so, we'll wake her."
Shinobu reluctantly agreed to leave Tori be for now, but it wasn't normal for Tori to stay asleep like this. She wanted to wake her up, but Giyu was right. Tori must be exhausted from that prolonged sparring match. There was no doubt Tori used up a lot of her stamina during that fight. Giyu looked at Shinobu and then he spoke.
"While we have a minute, there's something I wanted to tell you for awhile now. I could never bring up
the courage to do so." Giyu explained, "Shinobu, I…. I…."
"Giyu, if you're trying to confess your love to me, I'm afraid I have to say no." Shinobu answered, "To
be honest, Giyu-san, I like someone else. I don't want to hurt to Giyu, but I have to be honest. I don't
feel the same. Besides, I don't think it's me that you like. I think you like someone else and you just
haven't realized who it is yet. I am, however, willing to be your friend, Tomioka-san. Just as long as I
get to tease you every now and then."
"I had a feeling you would say that. Even though it hurts to say this, but I do accept your friendship,
Shinobu." Giyu responded, "And I won't object to occasional teasing. Just don't go too far with it."
Shinobu smiled at Giyu and the two friends embraced each other. They kept a close eye on Tori as she continued to sleep peacefully while still maintaining her Full-Focus breath. Kanae then came in with Tori's friends. They wanted to check on Tori and see if she was doing okay. They saw that Tori was sleeping peacefully and Giyu and Shinobu were having a moment. Kanae didn't want to ruin the moment, but she had to. They needed to know about Tori's condition. Kanae then spoke to the two friends.
"My, my. I hope we're not interrupting anything." Kanae said, "You two seem to be getting along a
little too well."
"We're just friends, Nee-san! We're not a couple!" Shinobu replied, "Also, you're not interrupting
anything. We're just looking after Tori."
"How long has she been sleep? Do you know when she'll wake up?" Kanae asked, "Her friends wanted
to see her and make sure she was okay."
"She fell asleep right after I treated her sprain. She's been asleep for over a couple hours now." Shinobu
explained, "I'm really worried about her, Nee-san. If she continues to sleep like this, she won't sleep
tonight. I want to wake her up, but Tomioka-san said we should let her rest. I don't know what to do."
Kanae checked Tori's breathing and everything appeared to be normal. She didn't seem to be fighting any kind of infection or disease. The only thing she could think of that was probably making her sleep for so long was probably exhaustion from the sparring match. Kanae, however, did want to confirm her suspicion so she then lightly shook Tori and called her name softly. Then Tori finally started to wake up due to Kanae calling her and shaking her. As Tori was waking up, she wasn't quiet all there. Then out of nowhere she heard her mother's voice. Then she saw herself talking with her mother, but the conversation was inaudible. There were other people in the background, but she couldn't make out who they were just by looking at their silhouettes. Once more, Tori heard her mother's voice and felt someone shaking her. Then her eyes opened fully and she was now able to her the voice clearer. It wasn't her mother that she was hearing. It was Kanae who was calling her. She rubbed her eyes and stretched her arms and ended everything off with a yawn. Then she finally spoke after hours of sleeping.
"Hi, Kanae-sama. What's up?" Tori said, "Why are you staring at me like that?"
"Forgive me for being rude, but you've been asleep for almost three hours." Kanae replied, "We were
all very worried about you, so I tried to wake you up. I didn't want you to sleep too much. You won't
sleep tonight if that happens."
"Oh, is that all? My bad. I guess I was just really tired from the sparring match." Tori responded, "I'm
sorry if I worried everyone. I am, however, still really tired."
"Well, try and shake it off because you won't sleep tonight, if you keep sleeping now." Shinobu
warned, "We need you to have a healthy sleeping schedule just like Kanao and the girls."
Then Iguro, Mitsuri, and the girls all came in to see Tori. Then girls began asking if she was okay and Tori reassured them that she was fine. The girls climbed up onto her bed and Tori began playing games with them that she played with her siblings as they grew up. They all laughed as the girls played around and acted silly. The hashiras laughed and so did Tori's friends. When Tori looked at the girls for a second time, one of the girls said something that her siblings said, when she first taught them the game.
This caused her to flash back to the time all of her siblings played the very game that she taught the triplets. She had just finished taking care of her father as the illness started to limit his movements. Tori happened to see the younger ones sad because they didn't have anyone to play with. Tanjiro had gone to chop wood and Nezuko had gone to search for wild vegetables. Tori's mother was busy with her own chores, so their was one else for them to play with. Tori then walked over to them and she knelt down and asked if they wanted her to show them her favorite game to play. They all agree and she began to teach them the "Sibling Game". Tanjiro and Nezuko returned and they saw Tori teaching the younger ones the game she taught them. The two of them finished their chores and they joined in the fun. Their parents watched with smiles on their faces as the kids played together as they should. Tori could still hear the laughter of her siblings echoing through her mind as she snapped back into the present.
Giyu had noticed Tori's strange reaction to the statement made by one of the triplets. There was no doubt that it triggered some memories from Tori's past. When they asked if she was alright, Tori brushed it aside and told them that she was just thinking. The water hashira saw a glimpse of Tori's "be strong around others personality". This caused him to frown because Tori was lying to the young kids about her true feelings. When everyone else left, Giyu was the one who stayed behind. Giyu then confronted her about her need to be strong around the triplets.
"Tori, I know you lied to the triplets. What's really going on?" Giyu said, "Why do you feel the need to
be strong around them? They'll understand that you're sad. So why?"
"Because, that's what I was taught growing up. You have to be strong around the younger ones." Tori
replied, "Being the eldest child of the family, I have to set an example in front of them. I have to show
them how to act and teach them how to take care of each other when the rest of us are busy with other
chores. They are weak, so I have to be strong for their sake's. I may hide the full truth from them, but
all they really need to know is that I'm okay. At their age, they don't understand complex feelings.
That, however, doesn't mean I don't talk about them. I just either talk to Tanjiro, Nezuko, or my parents
about my feelings. Then if I'm hurt, I have to endure the pain and stay strong for my siblings. The only
ones who worry are Tanjiro, Nezuko, and my mother. The little ones just know that I'll get better really
fast. It's not that I'm trying to hide my weakness from them, I just want to not worry so much about
me. Besides, I'm not trying to be strong around everyone. I always let you, Kanae, and Shinobu know
if I'm hurt or just need someone to talk to."
Giyu was shocked by her statement, but then realized that she was treating the triplets as if they were her younger siblings. She was trying to preserve their happiness by telling them that she would be fine. They proceeded to talk to each other and Tori also explained to Giyu about her reaction to the statement that one of the triplets said. Tori told Giyu that she was reminded of the time she and her siblings played the game together. The two continued to talk until Giyu's crow gave him his orders for a mission. Giyu reluctantly left to go on the mission. Tori was then left to recover. Within a few days, she fully recovered. She had walked around the mansion with a crutch as exercise to help to strengthen her body. When her ankle healed enough that she could walk without the crutch, she walked around the mansion again to exercise her ankle area. Now her ankle was fully healed and she was almost ready to start her training with Rengoku. The only problem was that Rengoku was away on a mission, so Tori just practiced the basic speed exercises to not only strengthen her ankle, but to get ready for the next level of speed training.
Two days later, Tori began her next level of speed training. Rengoku had her doing a lot of exercises that would increase her speed and stamina. She repeated these exercises everyday in a different pattern every time. Rengoku would throw in some new exercises to keep her from repeating the same exercises too much. She would race alongside the wind pillar, Sanemi Shinazugawa, to test her speed. Tori, however, would fall short behind Sanemi every time. Tori was improving, but she wasn't improving fast enough to show major differences. Tori continued to exercise and give her body necessary rests when needed, but Tori still fell short of catching up or surpassing Sanemi. Tori then figured out that she couldn't maintain her full speed for long distances. She didn't have enough endurance to maintain her top speed. Tori then started to practice her families ritual dance during the times when Rengoku had to leave on missions. To successfully perform the dance she would look back on the times where she stayed up all night just to watch her father perform. She always watched her father closely and burned every detail of his movements into her memory. One day, Giyu, Iguro and Mitsuri were coming into the butterfly mansion. They saw Tori walk out into the training yard with a wooden sword in her hand. She set up a training target and she took up a stance. She then began the dance and destroyed the target in the process. Now Tori couldn't perform all twelve forms consecutively and she couldn't perform them all night either, but she could at least use the technique to help build up her endurance so she can maintain her top speed. Tori made it a habit to perform this dance regularly and the exercises Rengoku taught her. Giyu, Iguro, and Mitsuri always stopped by to see Tori train in this peculiar way. They wondered why she was training like this.
Then came the day where Tori would finally race against Sanemi again. Giyu, Iguro, and Mitsuri came to watch Tori race against Sanemi. Rengoku was concerned about Tori matching Sanemi's speed or even surpassing it. So far, she always fell short behind Sanemi. He hoped that today would be different. Tori started to do some stretching exercises to loosen up her muscles just before the race. Once she and Sanemi were warmed up, they took their places at the starting line. Then the Kocho sisters arrived with the girls to see how Tori's progress was going. Then Rengoku signaled them off and the race began. Sanemi pulled ahead, but Tori stayed right behind him. She didn't speed up, or slow down. Tori kept a steady pace behind the wind pillar. Rengoku wasn't happy that Tori was still behind Sanemi. It looked as if she would fall short again, but he continued to watch to see what Tori would do. Tori continued to watch Sanemi closely waiting for the right moment to catch them all by suprise. Sanemi glanced back at Tori and saw she wasn't really trying to speed up. This allowed him to become overconfident and slow down his pace. Then Tori smiled. She had been waiting for this chance. Tori then started to pick up her pace and now she was running alongside the wind pillar. Sanemi was then surprised that Tori had picked up her pace. He then sprinted to make it more challenging for her. Tori, however, knew that he was pacing himself. She, once more, picked up her pace and stayed right next to Sanemi. The girls cheered on Tori as she started to show progression. Sanemi was now in a tight spot. He was already at his physical top speed without using his breaths. If he was using breaths, he could go faster. The only problem was that he wasn't allowed to use breaths, so he was stuck in this speed. Tori, on the other hand, was still pacing and not sprinting. Despite the fact that she was matching the wind pillar's top speed, she still wasn't sprinting. During her training when Rengoku was away, Tori raced with Muichiro and she manage to surpass his top speed when sprinting. He had told her that she was just as fast as Sanemi. She then trained her body to use that speed as a pacing speed. She then increased her speed, endurance, and stamina with the pattern of exercises that she had been doing.
Both Sanemi and Tori were about to reach the finish line. It seemed as if the race was going to end in a tie between the two. Sanemi was slowly starting to tire out, but he still tried to maintain his top speed. Tori, however, wasn't tired at all yet. She had paced herself excellently throughout the entire race, so she still had energy left. Tori also had loads of stamina and endurance and she was waiting for the right moment to pull one last surprise. Finally, they got in the range that Tori was waiting for and she sprinted. She passed the wind pillar and began to leave him in the dust. Everyone, even Sanemi, was shocked that Tori had that much energy left because now she was in the lead and was surpassing Sanemi's top speed. A big smile crossed Rengoku's face as she revealed how much she had improved since he had been gone. Even though Sanemi tried to catch up to her, it was already too late. Tori crossed the finish line first and won the race. Shinobu, Mitsuri, and the girls all cheered and praised Tori for her win. Sanemi collapsed behind Tori and he breathed heavily as his heart was beating rapidly. Tori walked up to him and leaned over him. She then spoke to him.
"Are you okay, Sanemi-san? You put up a good fight during that race." Tori said, "Thanks for giving
me a great race. I had a lot of fun."
"I'm fine, Kamado-sama. And I may have put up too much of a fight against you." Sanemi replied, "I
had a lot of fun too. It feels nice to let off a little steam during these dark times. Also, you're welcome."
"Let's race again someday when there aren't any demons to kill. It can be for fun." Tori suggested, "We
don't have to make competitive."
"I'd like that a lot Tori. By the way, how did you get so fast in such a short amount of time?" Sanemi
responded, "The last time we raced you still fell short."
"My secret." Tori answered playfully, "I'm not going to reveal my training tactics. At least, not yet
anyway."
The wind pillar smiled at Tori's playful side and tried to get her to tell him, but she refused every time. Then the others came over to the two of them. At this point, Sanemi was already standing up because Tori had gotten him back on his feet during their conversation. Tori was stretching out her muscles to keep them loose and to relax her body after the huge workout she did. Then the girls, plus Mitsuri, hugged and congratulated Tori for her big win. Giyu, Iguro, and Kanae all praised her for her hard work. Rengoku, however, was the most proud of all. Tori had managed to beat Sanemi and now she could move forward with her training. He expressed to Tori how proud he was that she managed to pull through and make a huge improvement and he wanted to know how she managed to increase her speed so rapidly. Tori then revealed that it wasn't her speed or stamina that was the problem. The problem was that she was lacking in endurance. While she could get to high speeds in a short amount of time, she couldn't maintain the top speed. To solve the endurance problem, she did some endurance training alongside her regular training. Tori, however, told him that she was going to leave her method of endurance training secret. Rengoku laughed and allowed her to do so. Then the Flame Hashira ended her training session for today and told her that she could rest for the rest of the day.
Hours later, Tori had just finished redressing herself after taking a much needed bath. She went to her room and began writing in her journal. She wrote down her victory against Sanemi and she also wrote down her secret training method that helped her to increase her endurance. She wrote down about the ritual dance that her family performed. She explained each form and how to perform each one properly. She put down the details that she had locked into her memory from watching her father perform the dance. She wrote down that she was leaving these instructions for Tanjiro. That way he could not only learn the dance, but he could also use it in battle against demons when the day came that he would join the demon slayers. She mentioned that the dance was very difficult for her, which made it the perfect endurance training method. She wrote down expressing that Tanjiro would probably have an easier time performing the dance better then her because his body was built for it and hers wasn't. Once she finished writing in her journal, Kanae and Shinobu came into Tori's room. Kanae was the first to speak out of the two of them.
"Writing in your journal, Tori-kun?" Kanae said, "I don't suppose you just-so-happened to write in
your secret endurance training method did you?"
"I did, Kanae-chan." Tori laughed, "I wrote down my secret training method in my journal."
"You've been writing a lot of journals since you've come here, Tori." Shinobu pointed out, "It's not
that there's anything wrong with that, but you're running out of space to put all of them. Why are you
making a journal anyway?"
"I want to be able to review everything I've learned during my training and I've pretty much burned
everything into my memory, but there's nothing wrong with going back to your roots." Tori replied,
"Although, I have one other motive for making a journal."
"What's your other motive? I can understand the wanting to review your training, but I don't see any
other reason for you to keep a journal." Kanae responded, "I don't think your friends need any tips on
training."
"It's not my friends that is motivating me to keep a journal. It's my brother, Tanjiro." Tori explained,
"I've been having very vivid dreams since I've been here. I don't know what to make of them really. It
started just before my training with Giyu on proper sword technique. In my first dream, I saw Tanjiro in
a demon slayer uniform. He had an insane haircut, which actually looked really good on him. Then he
had his signature green and black checkered haori on over the uniform. And lastly, he wore a wood box
on his back. I really don't know what it means, but I think that sometime in the future Tanjiro will join
the demon slayers. I really don't want him to walk down this path. But if he does walk down this path, I
won't stop him. I want to leave journals for him to give him tips for training and growing in strength
just in case that day comes."
"Well, if Tanjiro does join us, we'll make sure he's well cared for." Shinobu commented, "I'll also
suggest that he read your journals for tips on training to get stronger."
Tori nodded her gratitude and placed a bookmark between the pages and then closed the book. She wanted to make sure that Tanjiro read this particular book because it had information on their family ritual. Kanae noticed her place the bookmark in the book and she was intrigued.
"What's the bookmark for? Are you marking which pages you stopped on?" Kanae asked, "Why are
you marking those pages?"
"I'm marking these pages for Tanjiro because he may want to read them if he has questions about our
family ritual." Tori answered, "By writing it down and explaining it, he'll be more able to learn it
faster. He'll need to learn it if he's going to fill in for our father in the coming years."
Shinobu asked Tori if her family ritual was her endurance training method that she was keeping secret. Tori nodded and Kanae and Shinobu agreed to not tell anyone about it. Then they stopped asking her questions about her journals and her family. The only question they asked was if she would help to make dinner that evening. Tori agreed to help and the three girls went to the kitchen.
A few months went by and since then, Tori had continued her training as normal. She would write in her journal and also exchange letters with Shouta, Rikku, and Sakura. She had increased in speed, stamina and endurance everyday and she was tested to see how fast she was. Now, Tori was racing against Rengoku. He wanted her to surpass his speed that way she could be hard to kill if she was too fast. Then came the day where she raced against Rengoku once again and this time she won that race. She had poured all of her heart and soul into her training and it finally payed off for her. When she won, Rengoku praised her and was very proud of how hard she was working. Then she was told that they would race again with breaths. If she won the race, he would take her on one of his missions and her final test would be to slay a demon with her newfound speed. Tori nodded to Rengoku and she went home to rest and prepare for her final race. At the end of that week, Tori was now lining up with Rengoku on the starting line. They raced and breaths were allowed in this race. It almost looked like it would be a close race, but Tori pulled ahead at the last second and won the race. Tori had now surpassed Rengoku in speed and now she was ready to kill a demon with her increased speed.
Rengoku got a mission two days after the race and went to go get Tori. He brought an extra sword for her since the swords that she had asked for were still being made. Then they departed to go and kill demons. When they arrived at their destination, Tori saw her friends cornered by very powerful demons and they had sustained severe injuries. Tori kept herself in focus and then she acquired new knowledge about her breathing style. The fourth form of her breathing style was now available to her. She decided to use the form to close the distance between her and the demons and to attack without warning. With this plan in mind, she then began her follow through. Taking in a breath, she unleashed her new form. Total Concentration. Breath of the Raven, First Form: Raven Speed Air Step. Tori leaped high in the air and then she began running on empty air, or so it seemed. Glass tiles were appearing as she ran across through the sky. Once she closed the distance, she dropped down and appeared in front of the first demon. She sliced clean through it no problem. Then the second demon charged towards her. She then began using the third form of her breath style. The giant raven flapped it massive wings and Tori threw a bottle containing a special chemical. The demon hallucinated and a wall of compacted feathers appeared. Tori then leaped over the wall and cut the demon's head off while it was distracted. The last demon tried to flee, but Tori used the first form to catch the demon. The giant raven grabbed it in its talons and Tori cut the head off of the last demons.
Unannounced to Tori, Iguro had been observing her and he knew she was ready to start her stealth training. He was surprised at how quickly Tori was gaining strength and improving her technique. There was no doubt that she would be a pillar in no time. Not only did Tori pass her test, but she also protected her friends from further harm. This only showed that Tori was a true demon slayer. Tori ran over to her friends and she checked their wounds. She immediately applied first aid to stabilize each of their wounds. Rengoku and Iguro weren't surprised by the fact that Tori knew how to apply first aid. She lived with six siblings after all, so being a doctor was a must. After her friends were stable, Tori then turned to see Rengoku walking up to her. Then Iguro appeared from hiding in the trees. They both congratulated Tori in passing her test and she was now ready to move on to her stealth training. Iguro and Rengoku both knew that it wouldn't take her long to master stealth. Tori would be on her way to her next level strength training in no time at all. After the Hashira finished praising Tori for her hard work in completing her speed training, they turned to Tori's friends and praised them for holding out until Tori arrived. This brought smiles to the three demon slayers and they too praised Tori for completing her training. Tori caught up with her friends and stay with them until the Kakushi arrived to take care of the rest. When it was time for her to leave, she told them that she would see them at the butterfly estate. Her friends waved her goodbye and with that Tori left.
A couple days later, Tori was training with the snake pillar to master the art of stealth. And just as Iguro expected, she learned quickly. Within a week, Tori mastered the art of stealth. This posed a problem because she mastered it so fast. They decided to give her an interlude training, so that way it would last longer. The problem was they didn't know what to train her in. One day, Tori was with Kanae in the market and they ran into Uzui Tengen, the sound pillar. While the two hashira were talking, Tori saw a bandit stealing from the merchants and trying to be low key about it. Tori then grabbed a knife and Uzui watched her. She then threw the knife and tore open the bandit's sack and exposed him to the public. Once he got what he deserved, she picked the knife up and cleaned the dirt off of it. She gave it back to the merchant and the he complimented on her skill with the knife. Uzui did the same. It was then that he decided to train her in throwing daggers instead of knives. Tori agreed with this as it would increase her proficiency. Tori and Kanae went back to start dinner and Tori wrote in her journal and sent off a letter to her friends.
The next day she trained with Uzui to throw daggers. He taught her how to be accurate and precise when throwing the daggers. He also helped her to adjust the speed of which she threw the daggers. She practiced everyday increasing the number of daggers she threw each time. Each dagger would hit their mark and her throws would get faster and faster. Finally during her training, Tori developed her final form to her breath style. Applying her breathing style to her training, she took in a deep breath. She then unleashed her final form. Total Concentration. Breath of the Raven, Sixth Form: Black Feather Daggers. She threw the daggers at a high speed that it looked like they turned into the feathers of a raven. Uzui praised her and believed that she had mastered the art of throwing daggers. It had been two whole weeks since Tori started the training and they believed she was ready to start her strength training. Gyomei also agreed that she was ready. Tori went home and she rested as she had to prepare for her strength training.
The next morning she went to Gyomei and she began her training. The stone pillar put her through many intense exercises to help her increase her strength. Everyday she would push herself to move forward. She would push herself hard enough to improve her strength, but not enough to hurt herself. During the days when Gyomei was busy on missions she would continue to lift weights and perform her ritual dance to increase her strength. As she trained, Tori began rising quickly through the ranks of the demon slayers. The more strength she gained during her training, the more her rank went up. Tori was gaining strength quickly and this impressed Gyomei. There was no doubt that she would reach pillar strength very soon. Tori continued to acquire more and more strength through the exercises that Gyomei taught her and through the dance that she performed everyday. During her off days, she would write in her journal and exchange letters with her friends. She wrote about how intense her training was and how she felt that she was going to have a heart attack from doing so much, however, she didn't lose heart and she pushed forward and continued her intense training. A whole month passed and Tori finally reach the ideal strength, but her training would not be completed until she demonstrated her skills to the master once more.
Three days later the master called for a pillar meeting and Tori was specifically ordered to come. When everyone arrived, the master explained that this meeting would be Tori's final test to see if she had completed her training. This time the master had her fight Sanemi instead of Giyu. Giyu was disappointed that he wasn't sparring with Tori this time, but he had a feeling that he probably didn't want to. When the fight started, Tori did her usual thing and leaped high into the air. She analyzed the wind pillar and learned his weaknesses and his strengths. Once she formed a strategy, she then began free-falling to the ground. She came down hard on the wind pillar. Their wooden swords clashed and Sanemi now knew how Giyu felt when Tori did this the first time. He pushed her back and the fight continued. Tori's increased strength was visible throughout the fight and her tenchique was improved by a lot. There was no doubt about it. Tori was now at pillar level. After Tori pulled a few more tricks, she struck down the wind pillar and she won the duel. The other hashiras couldn't help, but cheer for her. The master then announced that Tori's training was complete and now she had a choice to make. She could become a pillar or stay the way she was. Tori was shocked at this. She was being given the offer to become a pillar. She didn't know how she felt about it so she asked if she could have some time to think over her decision. The master agreed and dismissed her. She went back to the butterfly mansion and she went to her friends, who had been brought in again due to their injuries. The girls then came in. Tori explained to all of them that her training was complete and now she was being offered a position as a pillar. The problem was, she was unsure if she should accept the offer. She expressed that she joined the demon slayers with no desire to become a pillar as she was aware that many demon slayers dreamed of becoming a pillar. The only thing she wanted was to protect her family and to give them a future. Then her friends told her that she should take the offer because she can still protect her family as a pillar. An offer like that wouldn't come everyday, as she knew. They all encouraged her that she should take the offer. They promised that no matter what they would be happy for her. With that in mind, Tori made her decision. Kanae came to pick her up to take her back to the master so she could tell him her answer. When she arrived, she announced that she would accept the offer and become a pillar.
All of the pillars cheered and praised Tori. Then Tori was given a new haori that was pitch black with raven sewn onto the sleeves. A ceremony was held and Tori was named the Raven Pillar. Each of the pillars welcomed her into the family of pillars and they were glad to have another girl in the group. Then it was reveal that Tori now had her own house. Tori was overwhelmed with joyous emotions and the Kocho sisters helped her move in to her new house. Then the sword smith finally arrive with her weapons that she requested. She then took them inside and she took a look at her main sword. Her sword turned black, but there were ravens drawn on her sword and this made her smile. She put it in her haori. Then she put the daggers in place. Then she tied on the decoy sword and now she had weapons and didn't have to borrow any. Once Tori was all moved and settled in, she placed all of her journals on bookshelves and then she finshed writing her last journal which explained her ascension to the rank of pillar. She was happy, but she just needed time to process everything. As she finishing writing her last journal entry her raven appeared at her window and gave her, her first order. She was to join Giyu Tomioka and go to XXXXXX mountain because of reports of demons lurking there. Tori's eyes went wide with shock that the name of the mountain she grew up on was mentioned. Tori's first mission was to return home and defend her family from demons.
Tori ran out of her house and began heading out on her first mission as a pillar. Tori knew that it was a long way to her mountain, but she had plenty of endurance to get her there. She was determined to defend her family from any demons that came their way. With her recent ascension to the rank of pillar, she knew she could protect them with ease. She was now Tori Kamado, the new Raven Pillar, and nothing would get between her and her family. And Tori was going to make sure of it.
Author's note:
Two chapters! I've broken my record for the number of chapters I put out. At least, when I finish the chapters. I lost sleep trying to finish this chapter, but I wanted to get it done. I still don't have internet and I have to go to places that have internet in order to update and post new chapters. Please pray that it won't be much longer that I am without internet. My dad signed up for an internet provider and they're going to deliver it, but we don't know when. Then we had this huge winter storm and lost water. Most others lost power. Things are warming up now, so hopefully not much longer. I really want to post chapters from home, but I can't until I have internet. Hopefully, this won't last much longer. Now about this chapter, I originally planned to put in Tori's return home and how she defeated the third demon that attacked her family in this chapter along with her ascension to the position of pillar. This chapter, however, proved to be too long already so this will be the next chapter. So please look forward to that. I hope you all enjoyed these two chapters. And I must thank you all for favoring and following the story. It's you guys that give me the motivation to get these chapters out. The fact that people are actually reading it is amazing. I will keep working on chapters and hopefully keep you updated on my internet situation. Thank so much for reading and I hope to see you all in the next chapter. The next chapter is either going to be really sad, or really epic. See you all soon.
