Mal just sighed as she looked at the stupid spell book that she couldn't stand to even look at. This book was pure torture and was just another reminder of how Maleficent had manipulated and controlled her.
She didn't want to do this anymore. She wasn't 16 she was 6 months old and just wanted to be asleep curled up in a crib not stuck trying to figure out how to read some stupid book that was hurting her head to look at.
Everything was so confusing and jumbled up. She couldn't really understand any of it. She was just relying on the pictures at this point and even those were confusing to her too.
Mal's jumbled thoughts were interrupted though when Evie had managed to notice Mal looking like she was struggling with the spell book. Evie still didn't know that Mal knew about the truth, but it was still hurting to watch her baby struggle, especially just with a book.
"Hey M you okay?" Evie asked, making Mal nod as tears started to flow down as she couldn't do it anymore. "No, I want my mommy back!" Mal cried out not being able to control it anymore.
Evie just froze and so did the boys. They still had no clue that Mal knew what was going on so to them Mal asking for her mommy back was hurting as it still sounded like Mal wanted Maleficent.
Which was so far from the truth. Mal despised that monster right now and never wants to see her again. She took her mommy and daddy away from her and made her have to live through all this stress.
What Mal did want was for all this stress and confusion to go away and for her to be herself again with her real mommy and daddy aka Evie and Carlos.
"Evie just bit down on her tongue to stop herself from crying as she pulled Mal into a hug. "Aw I know Mal, but as soon as we get that wand we'll be back with our parents again," Evie told her baby, still trying to keep up her act. Even though it was absolutely killing her to do so.
Mal wanted to fight against Evie and just start screaming about how that monster was not her mommy but she couldn't as soon as she felt Evie holding her with her arms as she just felt safe and relaxed again and she immediately melted into the hug making Evie both shocked and happy at the same time as she smiled.
She was shocked by how easily Mal relaxed against her as normally Mal would fight at least a little bit, but she was happy that Mal felt safe enough with her to relax right away.
They stayed like that for a few more minutes before Mal pulled away again not wanting to slip up and reveal anything as the warm feeling of cuddling with her mommy was starting to outweigh everything else.
"You okay?" Evie asked as she had been enjoying that and didn't want it to end. Mal just nodded as she laid back down again as she couldn't help it. She was just too drawn to that warm safe feeling.
"Okay come on we have cookies to make!" Carlos called out as he was starting to feel jealous seeing Mal all cuddled up with Evie. He wanted that too but it would be weird considering Mal always preferred Evie probably due to the fact that she was a mama's girl.
Even before all this she always preferred Evie. She only wanted Evie to hold her, she only wanted Evie to feed her, and she only wanted Evie to change her. No matter how much he had tried and it was really starting to hurt seeing how close they still were.
Mal quickly jumped from the loud sound as it had startled her while Evie just glared at Carlos for interrupting her time with her daughter. She was enjoying that.
"Carlos!" Both Evie and Mal cried out, making him smile and shrug. "Sorry but it's getting late and we're never going to finish these cookies if we don't start making them now," Carlos told them all, making the two girls groan as they both didn't want to do this.
Evie was still feeling like the worst mother right now for agreeing to this and Mal was terrified of doing this and having to be with a stranger all alone. Plus not to mention how hard it was just trying to read the stupid spell book.
However they both knew that Carlos was right. "Okay yeah you're right it's getting late and Mal looks really sleepy," Evie told the boys making Mal yawn as she was exhausted, but she just wanted to get this over with.
"I'm not sleepy! Now let's just make these cookies already," Mal told them all while trying to hide another yawn. Mal would rather be sleeping right now, but she knew that if she gave in the others would be suspicious and she couldn't have that.
She was so close to being herself again she could feel it. The other three watched the young girl who they could tell was fighting off sleep as they just sighed.
"Okay so it says we need one tear! What does that even mean!" Mal whined out after she had managed to finally read the spell book enough to understand the love spell recipe, but she still couldn't figure out what the last ingredient even meant.
"Mal a tear is the liquid stuff that comes from your eyes when you cry," Jay told his niece trying to help. "I still don't get it!" Mal cried out as she was too tired by this point to focus.
"Here let's just chop up some onions that'll make tears," Carlos told the other three trying to help as he could tell his baby was getting cranky and tired again and he was exhausted as well. This whole thing was just so draining and he knew Evie was fee
Evie just shook her head no as she was reading over Mal's shoulder to help her as she knew Mal was secretly struggling.
"No, it says we need a tear of human sadness. And no Jay before you say it a tear is not just a tear. They both have antibodies and enzymes but an emotional tear has more protein based hormones then a reflex tear," Evie began as she completely forgot she was still supposed to be a ditzy princess.
Evie froze when she looked over and saw Mal with a completely shocked look as Mal wasn't used to Evie's real side. Evie quickly put back on a ditzy look as she didn't want to expose herself.
"At least that's what that cute nerdy boy in my chemistry class told me," Evie told the others with her fake ditzy voice and she wanted to throw up so bad for ever calling Doug cute.
She'll admit it is nice having someone to talk to in class and not being treated like an outsider but at the same time she knows his intentions and she has absolutely no interest in them.
"You mean Doug! Really he's the worst! I hate him!" Carlos told Evie as he was jealous. He knew she didn't mean any of that and was just pretending for Mal to not get suspicious but he was still feeling a burning feeling of jealousy just thinking about that dwarf boy who couldn't seem to leave Evie alone even when it was obvious she had no interest in him.
"He's not so bad," Evie told Carlos as she was still trying to keep up her act but before anyone else could say anything else Mal completely lost it as she couldn't take it anymore.
She wanted her parents together not to have her mommy get with some other boy that she didn't even like. He was giving her an uncomfortable feeling every time she was around him and she hated it.
"NO! HE IS THE WORST! I HATE HIM TOO! HE WON'T LEAVE YOU ALONE! AND YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE WITH DA… I MEAN…CARLOS NOT WITH THAT STUPID DWARF BOY WHO ALWAYS MAKES ME UNCOMFORTABLE!" Mal cried out as she couldn't control it anymore her tantrum was interrupted though when the kitchen door opened.
"What's going on?" The four isle kids heard as they looked up to where the voice came from and completely froze not knowing what to do.
