I do not own the Fallout series

AN: Apologies to any fans of the Radstag out there, but this chapter is not going to do them any favors.

Radstags

If it's possible for radiation to take something amazing and not make it terrible, I haven't seen it yet. The common White Tailed Deer (Odocoileus Virginianus) was once a symbol of majesty, nobility, and integrity. Now it's an anxious and flighty animal; that more often than not will completely flee from conflict. The Deer of the Back-When Times were majestic animals, with a glossy brown coat of fur and elegant antlers. Now, the Radstag is two-headed, (one noticeable smaller than the other), with 6 legs, two of which are malformed and diminutive. Its fur coat is now patchy and grayish-red and its antlers are broken and twisted.

A pathetic creature; the Radstag will avoid conflict unless provoked. Then it will attempt to gore you with its horns, usually failing. Radstags are too panicky to be properly domesticated. Instead, they are hunted for their horns, meat, and hide. Radstags will live in herds of about 5 members: an adult male, two females (referred to as Rad-doe), and three yearlings. The lone Radstag male will occasional be found roaming the Wastes for a female to begin their own herds with. Occasionally, you will come across two males fighting for a Doe's attention. The Stags will fight by locking their horns and trying to overpower each other. The weakened loser will make easy prey.

Radstags Trivia

Radstags will shed their antlers during certain times of the year

While primarily herbivores, Radstags will occasionally balance out their diet by eating meat, notably bird eggs and even the skin they scrape of their own antlers. This is most common during winter when living plants are far less common.

There are rumors of a Radstag that glows blue from drinking Nuka-Cola Quantum, this sounds pretty stupid, but stupider things have happened because of Nuka-Cola.

There is a unique variant of Radstag found only on Mt. Desert Island. These feral or 'Devolved' Radstags are distinguished by having grown canines and having an increasingly carnivorous diet. These mutations are likely the result of centuries of inbreeding and the unique radioactive fog that permeates the Island.
