'Really?' asked Minho, looking at Thomas. 'What makes you say that?'

'It seems too perfect, I mean, trees don't just fall like that' he replied to his friend. 'I know we were all focused on getting Minho back to the camp, but I think I noticed some kind of knife marks on the tree as we walked past it.'

'What, my pretty face and my gaping wound didn't distract you enough' he responded. Several people in the background laughed.

'I'm sure it did' said Vance, walking into the tent. 'I hear there was a bit of an accident out there.'

'Yeah, there was' Thomas and Minho said in unison, both gesturing to Minho's leg.

'What happened?' he asked.

'A tree fell down right on top of us as we were venturing further into the jungle,' said Thomas. 'There was no warning, no sound of the tree snapping, no signs it was gonna break, it just fell suddenly.'

'Is this true?' asked Vance to the rest of them.

'Yes', said Minho and Brenda.

'Si' responded Jorge.

'We were just walking, and it fell on us,' said Brenda. 'Minho got the worst of it.'

'No shit' said Minho, glaring at Brenda.

Vance ignored this and continued. 'Well done for bringing him back in one piece, ish' he said. Minho stuck his middle finger up at the camp leader behind his back.

'I saw that' he said jokingly, causing Minho to skulk back into his seat.

Vance gestured for Thomas and the rest of them to exit the tent in order to let the medics tend to Minho.

'Any ideas what caused it?' Vance asked.

'I think I saw some knife or cut marks in the tree when we left but I can't be sure' replied Thomas.

'Any of you see anything else?' Vance asked.

They all shook their heads.

'Okay, I want everyone to exercise caution,' said Vance. 'For now, this stays between us, we don't need to create any panic right now. But stay vigilant' and he turned to leave.

Thomas stopped him. 'We need to go back and take a look at the tree' he said.

'We will,' said Vance. 'But right now, my priority is getting the other team back' and he headed for the control room.

Thomas stood in front of them, the look on his face that signified him formulating a plan in his mind.

'I know that look' said Frypan. 'What are you scheming about this time.'

'We can't sit around and wait for Vance to act on this' Thomas told them. 'We need to go back as soon as we can to see what happened, and to make sure no evidence is removed.'

'We're all in' said Frypan. 'But can we please wait till the other team returns.'

'Okay' said Thomas. 'But then we go hunting for the truth.'
