In a flash of light, it appeared. The thing was large, with gray skin and a humanoid appearance. Warts and pustules jiggled horrifically over many parts of its body.
Louise flinched as it made a bubbly, bloated noise. "Did Louise summon a troll?" someone in the audience asked. Founder forbid! She… she wasn't going to have to press her lips to it, was she?
"Well, Louise?" Colbert asked.
…Here goes nothing.
She took two steps towards it, and then stopped and nearly threw up in her mouth. What in the ever-loving Founder-damned cockles is that smell?! Her face began to turn green as the creature stood up and made ever-more awful sounds.
It wasn't any more pretty from this angle. Several in the audience shrieked, and one even fainted. Louise would take more pleasure in her tormentors' reactions if it weren't for the repulsive visage of her new familiar. Steeling herself, Louise took one step, then another, then a third…
And then it vomited on her. And the stench multiplied a thousandfold.
For a moment, Louise just stared uncomprehendingly. When it took another step towards her, close enough to touch, she screamed and punched it. This proved to be another mistake.
Her "majestic and powerful" familiar violently exploded in a spray of viscera, knocking her down. All that remained of her summon was its waist and legs, which flopped lifelessly on top of her and began leaking rotted guts onto her face.
Karin de la Valliere petted her youngest's hair over and over again, though she didn't know if it was any comfort. Louise was curled into a ball, still except for the occasional shakes, eyes fixed on an infinitely distant point. She had not slept, nor ate, nor reacted in the slightest to anything around her in the hours since Karin had arrived.
At this point Karin was concerned that her daughter might just waste away. "So did you learn anything new?" She asked Colbert.
"Nothing we did not already know. Truly, it was a… traumatic experience, even for me."
Karin winced. The "Flame Snake" was well acquainted with horrors and atrocities. If he thought it was traumatic, it was no wonder that her daughter, who was at the epicenter, was catatonic. "I… I must be honest. I am not sure what I can do. I don't know what is best for Louise in this situation."
Jean sighed, reclining against the wall. "No child should have to experience that sort of thing. I would suggest taking her home, but…" He gestured at Louise. "I do listen to what our students say and do. Being here and succeeding is her dream. I dare say she was frightened by the possibility of being sent home."
Which was obviously Karin's fault, in retrospect. Perhaps she'd been a little too hard on her daughter. Too focused on duty, and not on her daughter's needs. And now, Louise had lived a nightmare that would've put any single event in her life as a soldier to shame, and she might not even feel comforted in her own home.
"I'll… think on this tomorrow. No decisions need to be made now, and Louise should get some rest."
That very night, Louise's reanimated corpse ate a worried Kirche who came to check on her.
A/N: Louise summons a Boomer from Left 4 Dead. Unfortunately, she's not immune to the Green Flu.
