Chapter 2
Here's chapter 2… hope you like it. Please leave a review.
After walking on in silence for almost half an hour, they come to another part of the beach. It has a boat ready and waiting. The guy in charge stops, his men walk on to the boat.
"We have reached our first destination boys. Once on this boat, it's just a short trip to our next destination. You see there," he turns slightly – hand still on Walt's arm – and points over the horizon, "the second island will be where we end up, you can just see it through the fog."
The four men looked. They could only make out the sinister silhouette of a pointed island not far away. How the hadn't noticed it before they didn't know. But the prospect of being separated from their people by water was not something they wanted. It prompted Sayid into his first speech since he dropped his gun.
"Why do you want us to go over there? What is it?"
"Well, that would spoil the surprise wouldn't it now? Now get in the boat."
He grabbed Walt tighter, pointing his gun at the men, beckoning them forward. First was Mike, he didn't want to give him any excuse to hurt Walt. He walked past his son, looking into his scared face, and stepped into the boat, sitting where The Others directed him. Next came Jack. He too stared at Walt as he passed, getting in the boat and sitting beside Mike. Sayid strode past, not looking at anyone, getting in and sitting opposite Mike. As Mike turned to watch Walt, he saw Sawyer slowly walk past the guy, look him up and down, and smirk. Mike hadn't noticed before, but he was limping slightly as he slowly made his way over. It happened quickly, too quickly for Mike to shout out – for he was the only one watching. As Sawyer went to step in the boat, the guy behind him stormed over with Walt and pushed him, hard. Without his hands, Sawyer went flying through the air, landing with a crash on the floor of the boat. The other three shout at him, Jack starting to bend down to help, before being stopped by a gun aimed at him.
The guy got in the boat, sitting Walt down in the empty seat beside Sayid. He stood over Sawyer, bearing over him and pointing his gun at his head. No one spoke.
"If I tell you to do something, you do it. You don't hesitate, or think about it. You don't act up and make my life hard. Or else I'll kill you, and I'll make the boy watch."
At this Sawyer physically paled, any attempts at getting up he was trying before, he stopped. The guy laughed, crouched down over him and pressed his gun flush to his chest.
"Yeah, I thought that would have an impact. You know what that's like. So, do as I say. And do it right." He got up, stepped over Sawyer and entered the cabin of the boat with his men. Just as Jack started to bend towards Sawyer, the boat jerked forward as it started. The noise was loud and those sitting stumbled forwards. Walt looked at his father, not understanding what was truly happening. Sawyer let out a groan.
"Are you ok?" Jack moved forward, slipping off his seat next to Sawyer's feet, as Sawyer tried to sit up. "No, don't move. You fell pretty hard, you could have broken something." He edged his way around Mike's legs, coming up to Sawyer's torso. He used his bound hands to feel his ribs, after a few seconds Sawyer let out a yell. "Yeah, it's cracked."
"Yeah I know. But thanks for the update." Sawyer looked pale, almost green. Jack tentatively pressed at another rib, getting another noise of pain. But that seemed to be it. He pulled up Sawyer's shirt, revealing many, darkening bruises. He let out a whistle.
"Make friends where ever you go, don't you?" he said with a smirk, earning one back from Sawyer. "You think you can sit up?" Sawyer nodded.
With difficulty Jack helped pull him up, with his back against the cabin of the boat. By the time they were finished, they were breathing hard. Jack backed up to the seat he had vacated. They all sat in silence.
"What d'you think will happen now? You know, once we get to the place we're going?" It was Walt that spoke. It was soft and sounded scared. He was looking at his dad, but Mike couldn't answer, he just stared back. It was Sayid that spoke.
"We will not know until we get there. But we will stick together."
