"What is it?" Yellowfang asked, concerned. Sagewhisker snorted, leaning back.

"I need to tell you how to do all this medicine cats stuff to begin with!" She laughed kind of harshly.

Yellowfang winced in embarrassment. "Oops." She meowed with a forced laugh. Sagewhisker shook her head fiercely and started to blab about all the herbs, where they go, and everything that made Yellowfang pay attention less and less.

"Hey!" Sagewhisker snapped. "Don't think that you can get away with not learning anything on your first day."

"Oh, uhh sorry about that I was just thinking about...something." Yellowfang shook her head and focused her eyes onto the stack of herbs lying in front of her.

"Well, since you didn't listen, good luck sorting this entire pile YOURSELF. This is a punishment. Next time you'll be in the elders' den picking ticks!" Sagewhisker got up and hurried out of the den.

"Make sure all of those herbs are sorted when I get back!" She yowled over her shoulder. Yellowfang sighed, miserably.

"Okay!" She called after Sagewhisker's tail disappeared. This is going to be SUPER easy. She thought to herself.

After a few heart-beats, Yellowfang was tangled in a bunch of bitter leaves and couldn't twist out of it.

Okay...that did NOT go as planned...Yellowfang thought bitterly. Sagewhisker is going to come back anytime soon and I haven't been able to sort a SINGLE leaf! Suddenly a small head poked in.

"Yellowfang?" Nutwhisker, her brother was looking at her in confusion. Yellowfang rolled onto her back and looked up at her brother.

"Oh heyyy, Nutwhisker..." She mewed. "What do you need?" Nutwhisker shook his head as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Oh, it's nothing.." He mumbled, clearly trying not to laugh. "I'll come back when...THAT'S fixed.

Yellowfang nodded. "Thanks, Nutwhisker." Nutwhisker backed out of the den, leaving Yellowfang and her herbs still tangled together.

It was already evening and Sagewhisker still hadn't come back. Yellowfang, by then, had gotten herself out of the messy pile of herbs and sorted them. Probably incorrectly though.

"All done!" Yellowfang sighed with relief. "Finally." Yellowfang slowly rose up, feeling like an elder with aching joints.

"Ooh, owww." She hissed. Wrinkling her nose, she got up and padded out of the medicine cats den. Yellowfang was so tired that she could kind of feel herself swaying around on her paws.

While Yellowfang stumbled towards the warriors den, a voice spoke up behind her.

"Ahem! You're now a medicine cat so you are sleeping with me." Yellowfang whipped her head around and saw Sagewhisker gazing at her with a look that Yellowfang couldn't understand.

"Right.." Yellowfang said, backing up slowly. Sagewhisker's face turned much brighter.

"Good." She mewed. "Now, did you finish sorting those herbs?" Sagewhisker asked. Yellowfang gulped.

"Y-yes." She stammered. Sagewhisker tilted her head.

"Why on earth are you stuttering?" She meowed. Yellowfang calmed down a bit, but her fur was still fluffed up.

"Oh it's nothing." Yellowfang replied with a fake smile. Not gonna lie I kind of like Sagewhisker. Yellowfang thought.

"Go find something to eat." Sagewhisker said briskly. "After that, get some rest. It's going to be a long day tomorrow."

Yellowfang nodded, padding towards the fresh-kill pile, bumping into a cat. Not Brackenfoot this time, it was Raggedpelt.

Ugh, out of all the cats that were here, why did it have to be Raggedpelt? Yellowfang thought miserably.

"Sorry." She muttered, not daring to look directly into his eyes. When there was no answer, Yellowfang looked up. No one was there. Raggedpelt was walking away towards Stonetooth.

Yellowfang was furious. How could he just walk away like I didn't exist?! She fumed inside her head. Storming in the opposite direction from Raggedpelt, she stomped towards the fresh-kill pile, where Brightflower was picking up a frog.

"I sense that something is wrong." Brightflower meowed, dropping her frog.

"How did you know?" Yellowfang asked, surprised. "N-not that it's true but..." Brightflower looked that Yellowfang with that 'I know you're lying, you can't lie to your mother without her finding out' look.

Yellowfang sighed, rolling her eyes and explained to her mother what was going on between Raggedpelt and her. Brightflower now had pity on her face.

"Aww poor you Yellowfang. Maybe you should just stick to your duties instead of worrying about your love life. You're a medicine cat now. You have to focus on your duty because Sagewhisker won't be there to guide you forever and nor will I." She meowed.

Yellowfang's shoulders slumped. "That's exactly what Rowanberry told me." She pouted. Brightflower licked Yellowfang and slowly got up.

"Well then, she's right."

Maybe I'll ask Silverflame. Yellowfang decided. She gives great advice. Padding into the elders den, Yellowfang squeezed her head into the small entrance and faced Silverflame.

"Silverflame." She addressed. "I need to talk to you." Silverflame looked quite surprised.

"Alright then. Let's go outside so we have room and privacy." She meowed, glancing at Lizardfang.

"'Cause that one's a snoop." She whispered, pointing her tail at Lizardfang.

"Hey!" Lizardfang growled. "Just 'cause I'm old doesn't mean I'm deaf!" He snapped. Silverflame glared at him.

"Well either way, if you heard it or not, it's true!" She retorted. Turning to Yellowfang, Silverflame's voice softened.

"Now, come Yellowfang dear." She meowed. Yellowfang followed Silverflame out of the den.

"Now, tell me what's going on." Silverflame started. Yellowfang told her exactly what she told both Brightflower and Rowanberry.

"Well," Silverflame hesitated for a second. "I say you go to the moonstone and find out." She suggested.

Yellowfang was shocked. "But I'm not allowed to go without permission!" She protested. Silverflame interrupted her.

"Only if it's not an emergency. You could just say that Sagewhisker needed you to go and see what StarClan has to say." She said, looking up at the stars in the sky.

"It's the only way you could find out." She meowed before getting up and padding back to the elders den. Yellowfang sighed. She didn't know what to do. Going to the Moonstone sounded like a great idea and that Yellowfang should do it but at the same time she knew she was going to get in trouble.

While walking back to the medicine cats den, Yellowfang thought of everything going on in her life. Raggedpelt, being a medicine cat, and getting in trouble from going to the Moonstone for a stupid reason.

Yellowfang entered the medicine cats den where Sagewhisker was sitting there peacefully.

"I heard EVERYTHING." She meowed bluntly. Yellowfang shook her head in shock, but before she could respond, Sagewhisker continued.

"If you feel like you need to go to the Moonstone, then go. No one is stopping you." Sagewhisker urged. "Of course I'm coming with, you can't go the the Moonstone without supervision."

Yellowfang felt surprised that Sagewhisker would actually let her do that.

"Would you really let me do that?" She asked, feeling like it was all just a joke. Sagewhisker shrugged.

"Sure, why not? I also have been needing to go to the Moonstone for a while too." Yellowfang smiled at Sagewhisker and thanked her before heading out to go see what Rowanberry was up to.

She was sharing tongues with Clawface, a warrior that Yellowfang secretly loathed, but never said a word out loud because Rowanberry and Clawface were kind of in love.

Yellowfang wrinkled her nose. Gross. She thought, but suddenly remembered that if her and Raggedpelt hadn't fought, they would be doing the same thing.

But why with Clawface? That's the real question here. Yellowfang looked away, hoping that Rowanberry didn't notice her. Turns out that what Yellowfang was hoping for, wasn't gonna happen.

"Oh, hey Yellowfang! Do you want to come over here and just chat with us?" She yelled quite loudly.

"Keep it down!" Someone yelled from the warriors den. Rowanberry rolled her eyes.

"Don't mind Stonetooth." She whispered to Yellowfang once she settled in next to Clawface. "He's been a bit grumpy lately. I don't know why though."

Yellowfang didn't respond because Clawface was glaring at her. With a furious glare back, Yellowfang let herself relax and turn towards where Rowanberry was.

But Rowanberry was gone. Turning slowly towards Clawface she fumed.

"Where's Rowanberry?" She hissed at Clawface. All the stupid tom did was smirk at Yellowfang before getting up and padding towards the warriors den, leaving Yellowfang alone, in the center of camp.
