Lucy POV

In a little less than three days time, we all make it back home, safe and sound. While I was unhappy that I couldn't be by Drew's side our journey back, I'm glad I was able to spend it with Randy, as I had to keep an eye on him and his injury.

Whenever I got the chance to do so, I turned my attention to Drew, even though he couldn't see since he was in front of us, leading the way home. Randy of course, found a way to tease me about him the entire way. I took it all in stride because I knew that he meant no harm with any of it.

The moment we got back, I assisted Randy back to his quarters to make sure he got settled in okay and comfortably. I help him in into his bed as he gingerly lays down, then I cover him up to his waist with the bed sheet.

"How are you feeling? I know it was a long and bumpy journey, so you're probably hurting," I ask Randy, sitting on the edge of the bed next to him.

Releasing a small grunt as he shifts a bit, Randy replies, "I've been better," he jokes, "but I'm hanging in there. It hurts like a bitch," he says and widens his eyes before looking over a me sheepishly, "sorry. I'm in the presence of a lady, I shouldn't be speaking like that," Randy says, his tone ashamed.

I bite my lip with a chuckle at his blatant embarrassment, so I put Randy out of his misery, "it's quite alright. I don't mind, don't treat me any differently than when you talk to the guys. It's a breath of fresh air being able to talk without being judged for it," I tell him and his eyes shine in sympathy at my comment.

"I'm sorry, Lucy," Randy says, grabbing my hand, "you shouldn't have had to go through that. But you're safe now and free to speak your mind. Especially if Drew has any say. He wants you to be and feel as comfortable as possible and be yourself," he tells me and I smile down at him.

"I am quickly adjusting, but now that we are here, there are more eyes and ears and I don't want to be silently judged. Es–especially if I'm going to be with Drew. And by that, I mean…" I take a deep breath, my heart racing at the direction the conversation is going. I've never been one to reveal what I'm feeling. Then again, you can understand why. At least I hope so.

Randy lays quietly and patiently as he watches me, waiting to finish my response, "…being his other half," I whisper, but I know he's heard me, because the look on his face is one of shock, but also of proof that his suspicions of our feelings for one another were real.

"Are you sure you're ready for that? I'm not going to sugarcoat it, but being with Drew comes a lot of responsibility," Randy warns me and a terrified look crosses my face at his words.

"Hey, hey," Randy says, grabbing my hand, "I'm not trying to frighten you, I'm just trying to let you understand what you have to look forward to. It's not going to be easy, but you will have Drew to guide you every step of the way. He's not going to let you fail nor fall; I can promise you that," he says, trying to reassure me, but panic has set in on what he's told me.

"I appreciate it. You're input and help, but I need some fresh air," I whisper, looking anywhere but at him. "I'll come by to check on you later," I tell Randy and rip my hand from his grasp before quickly leaving the confines of his bed chambers.

"Lucy!" I hear him call after me, but I ignore him, holding my hand over my quickly beating heart.

I don't know where I'm going, but I walk quickly through the halls until I find a door that leads to the outside. I release a big gasp the second I get the door open, but I don't stop. In the near distance, I see the stable that holds the horses and I make my way towards it.

Thankfully, when I get there, no one is around. Slowly making my way inside, I gasp and my eyes widen at the size of the stable and all of the horses that Drew has acquired. "I think I just found my new hang out spot for when I need to get away. Right boy?" I ask the small brown and white horse to my left.

Approaching the horse, I hold my hand out so he can sniff it before gently pet his fuzzy nose. The horse nudges my hand and I giggle, continuing to pet up his nose to the top of his head. "You're very sweet; I wish I knew your name, handsome boy," I say and he lowers his head more, continuing to nudge me and I bravely wrap my arm gently around his head to cradle it.

Kissing his snoot, I pull away. "I don't know what to do boy," I tell the horse, petting his nose. "I want to be with Drew, but now realizing what responsibility comes with being with him; I don't know if I can handle that," I whisper and he nudges my hand some more, snorting.

Smiling at the horse, I chuckle at his enthusiasm. It's almost as if he's telling me that I can do it. That I'm strong enough to be Drew's other half…The Queen of Scotland. My eyes widen at the thought. An abused, sheltered nobody, suddenly becoming a queen and ruling a whole goddamn country.

"Oh god. I don't know if I can do this. I can't run a country! I don't want to fail Drew; I don't want to be a disappointment to him," I say in a panic.

"But you can do this and you won't fail nor disappoint me," the deep timbre of Drew's voice has me spinning around, eyes wide.

"Drew," I breathe, startled by his appearence. "How–how do you know I won't do those things?" I ask as he closes the distance between us.

Drew frames my face with both hands before responding,"because you're strong, Lucy. You may not think it, but you are. If you weren't fit or have what it takes to be Queen, then I wouldn't have acted upon my feelings for you," he tells me, stroking my cheeks with his thumbs.

"But what if I mess up so terribly that it impacts you?" I counter, gripping his wrists.

"You won't baby…" Drew begins, but I cut him off.

"What if I do though, Drew? I would never forgive myself for hurting you like that," I say, shaking my head at myself.

"You won't Lucy. I will be there every step of the way with you, baby. I'm not going to let you fail; I promise, sweetheart," Drew tells me, resting his forehead upon my own.

"Okay," I breathe, just under a whisper, nodding my head subtly.

Drew presses several soft kisses to me before he pulls away. "Now, I see you've taken a liking to Blaze here," he comments, walking up to the horse. I can see now, why Drew named this horse Blaze; it's fitting for him.

Smiling, I join Drew and begin to stroke Blaze's snoot, "I have; he's very sweet," I reply, leaning into Drew when I feel his body touch mine.

He wraps an arm around my waist and presses a kiss to the top of my head, "he also seems to have taken a liking to you," Drew says and Blaze releases a small whinny.

"I think you're right," I grin. scratching Blaze's cheek.

"Well, then he's all yours," Drew tells me and I snap my head up in his direction in surprise.

"What? Are you serious?" I ask Drew, completely bewildered that he would give me a horse.

"I'm very serious, my love. Consider him a welcome home gift," I am told and Drew places his lips to my temple, pressing a kiss there with a smile.

I spin around in Drew's arms, wrapping my own around his neck and pull him down so I can kiss him, "thank you," I say quietly, my face inches from his.

"You're welcome, baby," Drew replies just as quietly, stroking the apple of my cheek with his thumb.

"This is the best thing anyone's ever done for me before. Well, aside from you taking me in and wanting to make me yours," I tell Drew, wrapping my arms around his large waist, pushing our bodies flush against one another.

"I'd do anything for you, Lucy. I'd give you the world if I could, but unfortunately all I can give you is Scotland when we marry. You already own my heart, love," Drew confesses and I look up at him and into his blue eyes, looking for any sign that his claim is false, but I find nothing.

"Drew," I breathe in disbelief.

"You have no idea…no idea how much you mean to me, Lucy. I can't wait to marry you. I don't want to frighten you, but it is going to have to happen soon," Drew reveals to me and my eyes widen in alarm. I know he can see the fear in my eyes because he tightens his hold on me. "As soon as word gets out that you are here and that I've found someone, they are going to expect it…and soon."

I shake my head, "Drew; I'm not ready for that," I tell him, my voice shaking.

"I know baby, but that doesn't matter. If I had a choice, I'd wait until you were ready, but unfortunately that is one of the few things I have absolutely no control over. I wish I did, but I don't. Scotland needs a queen and she's chosen you," he tells me.

I break Drew's and my eye contact, burying my face into his chest as I try to compose myself. I feel Drew rub my back comfortingly, whispering words of encouragement and endearment into my ear. I take a deep breath and pull away from his chest, looking up at him.

Upon nodding my head, a smile forms on Drew's face at my next words, "okay. I'll do it for you," I respond and he presses a kiss to me.

"Thank you," Drew says to me.

"You're welcome," I reply with a small smile of my own.

A month goes by and I find myself standing in front of the mirror, watching my reflection as one of my maids helps me put on my wedding dress. As she tightens the strings on it's back, I can't help but think of how expensive this piece actually was. Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely beautiful, but all of this is so overwhelming. I guess that doesn't really matter now, now that I will soon become Mrs. McIntyre instead of no longer being Miss Johnson and the thought scares the shit out of me.

"My lady," the maid who had been working on closing my dress, breaks me out of my wandering thoughts.

"Yes? What is it?" I ask, turning around completely so I can look at her properly. She curtseys me the moment I face her. "Please, don't do that," I tell her and she looks at me horrified.

"But my lady. You are about to marry The King; I must. Now that I will not only be serving King McIntyre, but you as well," she addresses me.

I sigh and nod my head in acceptance, "very well, but please…tell me, what is your name?" I ask her and she looks taken aback by my question.

"It–it is Nikki, my lady," she answers, but brings us back on topic, "it is almost time. You are finished, you just need a few more things," Nikki says and I look at her quizzically.

"What else could I possibly need? I already look like a china doll," I comment, looking back at myself in the mirror as she goes to fetch whatever it is she feels I need to complete my look. I actually do look quite beautiful. I'm not going to lie, I'm anxious to see Drew's reaction when he lays eyes on me.

"Here we are!" Nikki exclaims as she makes her way back to me and I eye the multiple velvet boxes in her hands.

"What in world?" I begin to ask until Nikki opens the first box in front of me and I gasp when I see a matching necklace and earrings that contain sapphires. "Oh my word, these are absolutely beautiful," I say in astonishment.

"They belonged to The King's mother before she passed. He now wants you to have them," Nikki tells me as she clasps the necklace around my neck from behind. "Absolutely beautiful," she compliments and grins at me through the mirror.

"And what is in that box?" I ask, nodding my head in the direction of the slightly smaller box.

"Ahh. This, The King has specially made for you my lady. To complete your look," she says and opens the box and my hand flies to my mouth when my eyes lay upon a tiara sized headpiece complete with sapphires and diamonds throughout.

Removing it from the confines of it's case, Nikki takes the headpiece and stands on a small step stool so she can properly place it on my head. "There. Perfect. You are a vision, my lady. The King won't be able to takes his eyes off of you. Mark my words," she tells me, excitement in her tone.

"Thank you, Nikki," I say to her and before she can respond to me, there is a knock on the large wooden door and in pops the head of Randy. He will be giving me away to Drew since he is the only other closest person to me aside from Drew.

"Lucy, I hate to interrupt, but…" Randy says, stepping into the room and his words die mid sentence; his eyes becoming wide, "you look absolutely stunning, Lucy. Beautiful," he tells me and circles me to get a complete look at me. I grin with a blush as he comes to a stop in front of me, but despite my heels, I still have to look up to see him.

"Thank you, Randy," I smile shyly up at him.

"You're very welcome," he returns my grin, "you do know Drew won't be able to take his eyes off of you, right? Nor is he going to let you leave his side," Randy tells me and I nod my head with a small playful eye roll because I know he is right.

"Oh, you don't need to tell me; I already know," I retort good-naturedly.

"Shall we then?" Randy asks, holding his arm out for me to grab.

"We shall," I reply, hooking my arm around his as we leave my bed chambers for the last time. After tonight, Drew and I share a room.

Randy leads me down the hall and into the grand ballroom where everyone awaits us. But no one matters to me, no one except for the man waiting for me at the end of the aisle.

"Ready?" Randy whispers to me and I look up at him with a nod of my head.
