I have not died, just so you know. I'm trying to put much of my time spent on writing into my upcoming fic (by upcoming, I have no idea when it will come out yet, sadly). But this idea just popped into my head and I had to run with it. So I hope you enjoy it! Kyoya, do the disclaimer.
Kyoya: xxstarsnowxx does not own Beyblade Metal Fight or its affiliates, yada yada yada.
Nile: There are three non-beyblade references in this chapter. Can you catch them all?
Gingka: Maybe! I already caught your Pokemon reference!
Nile: That one doesn't count, Gingka.
Gingka: Aw man!
Kyoya: *pushes Gingka offscreen* On with the show!
Poolside
The sunlight was harsh. That's why Kyoya and Nile were wearing their shades. The weather was hot. That's why they lounged by the side of the public pool in Metal Bey City.
"You know, the sign says 'Public Pool: Open Swim,' but I think Gingka's gang has taken over the whole place," Nile noted.
Kyoya grunted. He cracked one eyelid open when a splash of water reached his foot though. Masamune was currently having a splash fight with Gingka as the two laughed hysterically. Kenta, Hyoma and Tsubasa were facing off in three on three water volleyball with Yu, Zeo, and Toby. Benkei was dunking on some bladers Kyoya didn't recognize in the shallow end, where there was a basketball hoop. Kenta's three friends whom he also couldn't bother to recall the names of were lining up with other people he didn't know to go off the diving board.
"I swear, does nobody respect us older bladers anymore?" he asked his friend.
"If you mean that they don't bother to introduce themselves to us, then yes," Nile replied.
Kyoya's frown turned even deeper. "It's not that they don't introduce themselves, it's that their names just don't stick. What happened to the days of the World Championships? Everyone knew everyone else back then."
Nile seemed to be in a philosophical mood. "Times change. People change."
Just then, Ryuga walked over with two sand pails full of water and dumped them right over the heads of Gingka and Masamune. "Take that, Hagane and Kadoya! Your splashing is reaching all the way over to the sand box!"
"Some people don't change," Kyoya said with his usual smirk back on his face. Nile was grinning as well. Nothing like seeing the Pegasus blader and his friend put back in their places.
A spluttering Gingka finally gained enough air to retort back at his archrival. "Why are you even here Ryuga? I thought dragons were immune to heat!"
The Dragon Emperor snorted. "I'm not a Targaryen, fool." He returned to his sandbox, where an almost completed dragon sand sculpture was standing. Seeing Kyoya and Nile's look, he clarified: "It's my tribute to Ldrago."
It certainly looked like his beyblade's spirit.
Kyoya yawned. "Too bad all the other Legendary Bladers went home. We could have had an epic game of knockout."
"True. Right now, Benkei's dominating everyone." Nile watched as their former teammate continued to score on kids half his height.
Gingka and Masamune's splashing had started up again, though not as wild as before.
"We should go get some ice cream," Nile suggested.
"Ok." Kyoya followed the Egyptian over to the stand next to locker rooms and ordered two scoops of vanilla.
Nile got chocolate chunk. "Why so boring?" he asked.
"I like the old classics."
The two returned to their beach loungers poolside. Gingka and Masamune had joined the volleyball game and were in a battle to discover who was the 'number one volleyball player.'
They would never find out. With a crash, the fence on the east side of the pool suddenly sported a giant hole. The volleyball game halted. The basketball dunks halted. One of Kenta's friends literally fell off the diving board. Kyoya and Nile kept eating their ice cream. Waste not want not!
Just as they finished their last bite, none other than Doji walked through the gaping hole muttering about his public humiliation. "My revenge begins now!" he cackled. He proceeded to light sparklers and throw them everywhere. The pool extinguished a few and the water on the ground from the splash fight extinguished most of the others. One landed on the volleyball net, though, and set it afire. Madoka, who was referee of the game, shrieked and scrambled out of the pool. Gingka and Masamune did what they were pros at and splashed it. The fire was soon snuffed.
"Plan B!" He threw firecrackers all around and succeeded in frightening quite a few people, including Hikaru who had been sleeping in a lounge chair.
"Wait, why is Doji here?" she demanded angrily.
Kyoya and Nile shrugged and looked around. Everyone had decided Doji was a harmless threat it seemed. "Guess it's up to us," Kyoya said with a sigh. Good thing he always brought Leone with him.
"Yeah, looks like the dark side is staying out of this one for once," Nile said, glancing to where Ryuga was putting the final touches on his Ldrago masterpiece. The sandbox was – fortunately for him – on the west side of the pool.
The two friends glanced at each other and nodded; both had the same plan in mind. They calmly walked over to Doji, each grabbed an arm, and hoisted him into the air. They then walked him around to the deep end of the pool and unceremoniously tossed him in. A fitting end for an unsuccessful pool takeover, the two supposed.
The rest of the day was spent enjoying the heat after Doji was removed from the pool by the lifeguard and billed for the destruction of the fence. He was broke though, and couldn't afford to pay the bill. So the pool owner had him pay his debt by taking the time to clean up all the soggy firecrackers and sparklers and stitch the volleyball net back to its former glory.
All in all, it was a great day at the pool.
Kyoya: We sure showed that guy who's boss!
Nile: What's up next?
Me: Um...
Ryuga: She doesn't have anything planned. May I suggest a chapter involving my sand sculpture being taken to an art exhibition?
Me: ...
Ryuga: ... Don't tell me Gingka and Masamune wrecked it as soon as I left.
Me: ... *sneaks away with Kyoya and Nile before Ryuga goes into rage mode*
