Scott began to shift off the floor. Derek ran out of the vault, followed closely by Mara. There was an ear piercing smash, as the wolves barrelled through the glass doors at the entracne. They stumbled, but ultimately kept their footing on the pavement and were out of sight before they could react.
Derek turned on Allison.
"What were you thinking?"
He lost his temper, tone harsh and loud. He took a tight grip around her arm.
"I had to do something."
She shot back, holding her ground, though the girl's eyes were wide with fear as she visibly shrunk. Mara grabbed his arm, throwing it off Allison and giving the younger wolf a hard shove.
"She was trying to save our lives." Mara hissed at him, anger seeping into her tone to accompany the dangerous glare.
"Yeah, and what do you think they're gonna do out there?" Derek bit back at Mara, voice rising. "Do you have any idea what we just set free?"
"You want to blame me? Well, I am not the one turning teenagers into killers." Allison added in, new confidence and anger blooming from her protected position.
"No. No," Derek turns his attention back to her, taking a sarcastic tone. "that's just the rest of your family."
"I made mistakes. Gerard is not my fault." The teen replied, a dark look taking over her delicate features. Scott finally came stumbling out of the vault, leaning against the wall as he walked.
"And what about your mother?" Derek snapped.
"What do you mean?"
Allison lost her fire, her voice filled with confusion.
"Derek." Mara hissed in a warning tone, but he ignored her. Scott's eyes are wide as he looks on.
"Tell her, Scott." Derek says, sending a challenging look to his ex beta.
"What does he mean, Scott?" Allison is looking at him as well, tone demanding, on the verge of breaking. "What does he mean?"
Mara grabbed Derek harshly, and drug him out to the side of the building with her. When they were out of sight, Mara slowly turned on him.
She grabbed him by the shirt pulling him down to her level. Her voice got dangerously low, and her iris' flashed their blazing violet.
"She's not just your sister Derek. Get it together. There's too much at risk."
She released his shirt, and he stepped back, looking away. She turned away from him, letting out a slow breath, as her eyes returned to their radiant green colour.
"I'm going back to the loft." She said quietly, still facing away. "Start tracking. All of us will meet you."
Mara walked away, over to her truck. She gave the teens a small wave on her way, before hopping in. She hoped she could hold it all together, at least for the night.
When Mara reached the loft, both Cole and Stiles were gone. She shut the door behind her, making her way towards Lei.
"We seem to be missing a few bundles of sarcasm and snark." She remarks, examining the mess of pages and sharpies scattered around the desk. Leila pays her no mind, a single earbud in, attention focused on the map spread across the top of the mess, as well as her phone, with a confused expression gracing her features.
"Lydia found a body at the public pool. They went to get her." Peter replied, looking up at her from his place on the couch. Mara sighed, shaking her head. She walked around to the side of the desk Lei was on, looking down at the map.
"Are you tracking their movements?" She asks looking up, tilting her head slightly. Leila nodded, removing the sharpie from where it rested at the side of her mouth, between her teeth. They both look back down. Mara traced her finger along the path marked, her face twisting in confusion as well.
"They haven't gone anywhere near the pool." Mara points out.
"I know." Leila looks up. Her voice was certain. "There's no way they killed whoever was there. We were right."
She pulled her earbuds out and passed the phone over to Mara.
"Lydia?" Cole called out, tucking her loose earbud in her shirt. Cole stormed through the entrance gate, scanning the area, Stiles in close pursuit.
"Lydia?" Stiles called as well, more panic seeping in his tone. They turned around the corner of the storage shed, and found her sitting with her back against it, looking straight ahead into the pool.
"Lydia," Stiles sighed with relief, rushing over to her past Cole.
"are you okay?"
"I'm okay." Lydia replies, clearly shaken. Her eyes were bloodshot and wide, her skin more pale than usual. Without looking, she lifted her arm to point at the lifeguard chair. "That, over there...Not okay."
Stiles and Cole both looked over. They could only see a leg, and arm, and blood as it dropped down the chair, since they were behind it.
"Yeah, all right. I'm gonna call my dad." Stiles mutters. Cole held her hand out, and Lydia took it, pulling herself up.
"I already called 911." Lydia replied, looking at him once she was standing.
"You called the police before you called me?" Stiles asks, looking quite affronted, while Cole looked incredulous. Lydia looked back and forth between them.
"I'm supposed to call you guys first when I find a dead body?"
"Yes!" They both snapped.
"What's the sitch?" Cole replied, hearing Mara call her name. She pulled the right earbud out of her shirt, and placed it in her ear as well.
"Stop it."
"What do you need, big sister?"
"Did you see the body?" Mara asked, tone remaining serious.
"Not really. Why?"
"Go look at it. Tell me what you see." She replies, ignoring Cole's question. Cole rolls her eyes, but leaves Lydia with Stiles just outside the gates, and over to the body anyways.
"His throats ripped out, bloods everywhere. It's like the frickin' shining over here." She grimaces, tilting her head. "If twin girls come out of the woods, and ask me to play with them forever and ever, I wouldn't be surprised."
"Okay, alright, thanks." Mara replies, sounding unhappy with the answer. "We're meeting at the reserve. All of us." Cole's brow furrows.
"All of us?"
"All of us." Mara confirms, then hands the phone back to Leila.
"Well alrighty then." Cole mutters to herself before pulling one earbud out, and walking off.
