A closeout is a wave that breaks along its entire length at the same time, making it unconquerable.
"Back in the vault."
Cole's eyes shot to Cora. The vault the alpha's had locked her in. She could see the bitterness in her cousin's eyes. She turned her attention to the rest of the group systematically.
"Stiles, call your dad. My sister is with him. They'll meet us there. Let's move."
As she finished, the ringing of a phone made them all jump.
It was Cora. they all looked on with frustration as they awaited what was undoubtedly bad news when she answered. Cora put the phone down moments later, and confirmed their thoughts.
"It was Derek. The plan failed."
Cole cursed under her breath, rubbing her eyes. The Alpha's had probably cut the power, leaving their plan for electrocution futile. They had seen it coming. Now fighting was the only option. Some of them would have to go for backup.
Cora would obviously go at her brother's call, but was it enough? They still had no clue what they would find in the vault, so they couldn't afford to go in short-handed either. She didn't have time to fill her sister in, if the information was any good. They had less than a half hour, and it would take that to make it to the bank. Cole made a decision.
"Lei, did you hear that?"
A sombre yes came from the other end. Cole turned to look at the phone.
"You get to the vault and meet up with my sisters. Cora and I will go to the loft. Don't tell Mara."
"Cole, NO." Leila hissed through the phone, making her wince.
"Someone has to." She replied quietly.
"We aren't splitting up." Her sister replied firmly, growing angrier.
"We don't have time to argue. I'll see you when this is all over."
Cole hung up the phone, knowing she was going to get it from both her sisters next time they… Well she hoped they would see eachother soon. She wasn't exactly headed on vacation.
The room was silent as Leila's voice was cut off, leaving an unbearable tension. Cole stood still for a moment before exhaling slowly.
"Alright, let's go."
"I thought I told you…"
Leila sneered viciously at her sister from her place leaned against her car.
"No time to argue, remember? Your little heroic plan was STUPID anyways. You're a horrible planner. Was Cora supposed to run here?"
Cole sighed as she slammed the door of her truck shut. Cora came around from the other side of Leilas car, a small smile gracing her lips
"Fine, let's go."
Mara had always warned them an alpha wasn't like any other wolf. They were faster, stronger, and more powerful. Cole never understood to what extent. She was always a visual learner.
Now, visibly watching Kali beat the shit out of Derek, she got it.
When they arrived, Isaac and Peter were holding their own against the combined strength of the twin alphas. Derek was not doing so well with Kali, and Boyd's unconscious form layed on the concrete to the side, beneath a large indent in the metal doors.
Leila moved towards Peter, so Cole followed after Cora to her cousin's aid. Leila's shoes clapping against the hard floor seemed to alert everyone to their presence.
Peter didn't break focus for a moment, but ducked in tandem as Lei came leaping from behind him. Her swinging arm came crashing down into the monstrous wolf's jaw. Though she was small, her momentum and combined strength sent him spiralling to the floor.
Kali looked between all of them for a brief moment, probably realising she was outgunned. Cole caught a look of relief on Derek's face. She scolded him internally, watching Kali spot her opportunity.
With a well placed slash, and spin kick, she sent Derek flying towards them. As Cole and Cora halted so they could avoid the form shooting in their direction, Kali moved across the loft, straight for Boyd.
He never even opened his eyes as Kali grasped the back of his collar, lifting him to eye level.
Cole and Cora kept running, but the drop in momentum had done its job.
Kali raised her other set of claws to the teens throat, before barking one last ultimatum at Derek.
" I'm giving you till the next full moon, Derek. Make the smart choice. Join the pack... Or next time I'm killing all of you."
They reached Boyd in time to catch his falling body, blood covering their hands as they tried to lower his hulking form gently. Kali was long gone.
Cora and Cole could only stare on in horror.
