"You can get new headphones you know, Neku."

This was said by Shiki as the two were making a mad dash to the Shibuya River. Why were they headed to the River?

Because some jock trying to impress his cheerleading girl had decided to throw Neku's signature headphones in the sewer.

And it had rained pretty heavily the night before. Meaning the sewers were now flooded so bad that the area had actually earned its name.

"Eeeeew." Shiki whined as her shoes sloshed in a sewage puddle. Neku grunted and lifted her bridal style without a word, but rolling his eyes in a playful annoyed way. He really didn't mind carrying her through the deepest parts of the alley before the actual sewer started.

Once they were safely on damp ground again, Shiki slid down. "Thanks Neku...that was sweet!"

The introvert grunted, but grinned at the girl "Just don't fall in."

She regretted cautioning him in ten minutes.

Neku had spotted the indigo headphones in the middle of one of the crosstube areas, where four tubes all drained to one big tube that usually ended up dumped somewhere else far from the city. The orange-haired teen reached for his Phones...

...and fell into the deep, dank bigger tube.

Now, this might not have been such a big deal to someone who lived in a district famous for a beach. But Shibuya wasn't one of those districts. So, unfortunately...Neku didn't know how to swim.

Wich meant the instant he hit the water...he sank.

"NEKU!" Shiki screamed as his head and the rest of him disappeared into the murky depths.

Suddenly, someone shoved her aside, and dove in. The girl couldn't see exactly who it was, they had been moving far too fast. All she knew was there was a splash, and ten seconds later, the water began to glow.

Then, the glowing grew brighter and brighter, until it burst out of the water, and she saw it was...a figure in the purest white light, wings outstretched as it ascended back to the tube she stood in. In its arms was Neku, headphones and all, breathing normally but unconscious.

The figure set down its burden, and cocked its head at Shiki, who was still gaping in astonishment. It then waved, winked, and disappeared with an all-too-familiar giggle.

The girl gasped and held up a hand in the 'wait' gesture

"Joshua?!"
