Chapter 3. Asgard's Ass

Over the next few months, Loki would go over to Assi, Scarlett and Austin's apartment for Assi's Norwegian lessons. Loki and Assi grew closer. They were sitting on her bed, speaking in Norwegian. "Oh, I have something for you." Loki said in English, he turned away from her and reached into his pocket. "You don't have to give me anything, really you don't…" Assi stopped and gasped when she saw Loki holding the beautiful silver necklace with the green emerald. "Loki it's beautiful! Where did you get it?" Assi asked turning so her back was facing him. She held her hair up. Loki placed the necklace around her neck and hooked the clip in the back. Assi turned to face him again. "Do you like it?" he asked. "I love it! Thank you." She said throwing her arms around him. He blushed a bit, this was the first time Assi's arms went around him and the closest they have been. Loki wrapped his arms around her. "I'm glad you like it." "It's really beautiful, but you didn't tell me where you got it…you didn't steal it did you!?" Assi asked. Loki chuckled a bit. "No don't worry. The dwarves made it for me."

They let go of each other. He placed his cold hand on Assi's, she pulled it away. "What is it?" he asked. "We're just friends." She reminded. Loki smiled then moved closer to her and took a hold of her arm. She moved away and tried to pull her arm away, but he followed and wouldn't let her. "Loki let go of me." She didn't like this shift in his behavior, it was almost like someone hit a switch. "But I'm greater than any mortal!" he shouted tightening his grip on Assi's arm, as he moved even closer. "Loki stop, you're hurting me." Loki realized his mistake. He let go of her. "Assi…I am really…sorry I don't know what came over." Loki didn't get to finish. He was pulled to his feet. "What the hell!?" James screamed angrily. Assi forgot that James was coming over to hang out. "Jim stop. Nothing happened!" She said standing up. She didn't explain the shift in Loki's behavior. She didn't like it and didn't want the two fighting over nothing. James ignored her and grabbed Loki by the shoulders and slammed him against the wall with so much force that a picture hanging on the wall fell off and shattered when it hit the wooden floor. "Stop Jim!" Assi cried. James's anger and jealousy seemed have clouded his mind. Loki could see the anger building up on James's face. Afraid of what this mortal would do, Loki quickly changed his form to a mouse. He fell to the floor hoping that the fall wouldn't hurt him. Or worse kill him.

Once he landed, he ran out of Assi's room, unsure how he would escape the apartment. "What the…where did he go?" James asked still angry. Assi took a breath before walking over to him. "Jim." She said softly. He turned to her, his eyes still burning with anger and jealousy. "What were you doing!?" he shouted. "Nothing! Loki came onto me!" Assi shouted back. "How do I know that!?" James growled. "I can't believe you don't trust me!" Assi shouted again. "Of course, I trust-" "No you don't!" She interrupted. James tried to hug her, but she pushed him away. "Get out!" she yelled. James wanted to speak and try to reason with her, but he didn't get the chance. He just left without a word, he went to the front door, placed his hand on the doorknob and sighed before opening it. Loki followed closely still in his mouse form. "Hey Jim, what's up?" Austin asked as his friend walked past him in the hallway. But he didn't answer.

Once James and Loki were outside. Loki changed into a bird and flew to where the bridge that connected Asgard and Midgard was. He changed into his human form. "Heimdall!" he shouted at the sky. The Bifröst opened and Loki returned to Asgard. "You seem troubled Brother." Heimdall said closing the gate and pulling the sword out. Loki looked at his brother. "I just ran into some trouble with Assi's friend, James." Loki said ignoring the fact that Heimdall called him 'brother.' "Though, you already knew that." Loki said changing his clothes back to his Asgardians clothes. "I do." Heimdall replied.

It had been a week since Loki turned into a mouse and escaped James's hold. The prince laid on his bed, staring out the window. He wanted to see Assi again but knew that wouldn't be a good idea since he caused so much trouble the last time. But he really wanted to see her. . . "No, I don't want to see her, she's just a mortal." he thought to himself. He needed to think of something to get his mind off this stupid mortal woman. That's when it hit him: it was time to rule the mortals. He stood up, put on his helmet. grabbed the scepter that he kept hidden under his bed, the handle was gold, with a blue glowing gem in the middle of two silver blades.

He walked down the Bifröst. "Do you wish to know how she is do_" "No, I wish to see her." Loki lied cutting his brother off. He was glad that Heimdall couldn't read minds. Because Loki knew that Heimdall would be mad that his brother lied to him. "You seem a bit dressed up just for a visit." Heimdall pointed out. "And why are you bringing your scepter?" Loki thought of another lie. "I think it's time she knows that I'm from Asgard." He said begging the question. "Very well. I will obey and open the Bifröst." Heimdall said walking over to where the sword goes, put the sword in, and then opened it. Loki thanked him then went through the gate. As Heimdall closed it, he realized that Loki was different.

Heimdall could see how much his brother cared for this mortal though he wouldn't admit it. Then he stood at the edge of the Bifröst and watched Loki.

Loki walked through the town. He put up a spell so if he ran into Assi, she wouldn't recognize him. Then he stood in front of a building. "Hey Assi, isn't that Loki?" Scarlett asked pointing at him. Assi looked over where she was pointing. Assi saw a man with orange hair and green eyes. "No, Loki doesn't have orange hair or green eyes." she replied. "Knele." Loki said but no-one seemed to hear, or they didn't find him threatening. That angered Loki. He slammed his scepter on the ground and made clones of himself. "Sa jeg på kne! (I said Kneel)!" Loki ordered loudly. This time the people obeyed and kneeled. Loki smiled at the mortals kneeling before him, but his smile widen when he saw Assi, she was standing with Scarlett. He noticed how beautiful Assi was. She was wearing a black skirt just above her knees which she paired with a red long sleeve shirt and black knee-high boots. Loki pushed his feelings for Assi aside and walked closer to her keeping his eyes on hers, so he couldn't see her take her pocketknife out of her pocket. "Kneel." He said in English, using his magic to change his voice so there was no way that she would recognize him. "No." Assi said. Loki stopped himself from smiling more. "Then I'll make you kneel." He said raising his scepter to Assi's chest. His eyes turned to Scarlett when she said, "You kneel." Loki was about to answer but a shield came flying at him. He hit it away.

"CAPTAIN AMERICA!" Scarlett shouted happily. Steve gave her a smile. "He smiled at me! Did you see that!?" Scarlett said excitedly shaking her best friend. Assi nodded, of course she saw because he was looking at both of them, but he only smiled at Scarlett, which didn't bother Assi because she always thought that Bucky was cuter.

Steve and Loki started fighting, but he quickly realized that he couldn't win especially when Thor and the other Avengers joined the fight. That's when a thought hit Loki, he grabbed Assi by the arm. She elbowed him hard in the stomach, which made Loki's smile return. "Oof, oh I like you." he said. "Brother!" Thor shouted. Loki looked at his brother. "Let her go!" Thor ordered. Loki laughed a bit. "Let me rule this land, like our people once did." He said tightening his grip on Assi's arm. Steve was holding Scarlett back so she wouldn't get hurt. "Brother, you know that you can't-" Thor started but was cut off by Loki, "Then she's mine." Loki then put one of his knives up against Assi's neck, as he backed up. Horror covered Assi's face. "Heimdall!" Loki called. "Don't follow me. Or I'll kill her." Then the two were brought back to Asgard.

Once Loki and Assi returned to Asgard. Loki let her go and smiled, just to get stabbed. "Oh, I really like you." he said. "What do you want, creep?" she asked angrily. Loki's smile disappeared. He looked at her with sad eyes. "Are you telling me that you don't recognize me?" he asked removing his spell. There was a bit of hurt in his voice. Assi stared into his deep blue eyes, that's when she recognized him. "Loki?" she asked. "Why yes." He smiled again and removed his helmet. "Loki!" Assi dropped her pocketknife and jumped into his arms. He lifted her up. She threw her arms around his neck. He hugged her back. "Oh Assi! I missed you so much!" "I missed you too!" She replied. Loki put her down on the Bifröst. "Where were you!?" she asked. "Here." He replied pointing to the golden city at the end of the long rainbow bridge. "Where's here?" she tried to see what Loki was pointing at but couldn't. "Asgard, my lady." Heimdall said behind them. Assi and Loki turned to face him. "Welcome to Asgard." Heimdall smiled and continued. "Thank you, and it's nice to meet you." Assi said smiling back and holding out her hand. "It is." He said shaking it. "Assi, this is Heimdall, the gatekeeper of Asgard, he can hear and see everything in all of the nine realms." Loki said taking Assi's hand. She shivered a bit at the touch of Loki's ice-cold hand. "I am also his brother." Heimdall added. "Oh, you're one of Loki's 11 brothers." Assi said. Heimdall nodded and turned to Loki, as he let go of Assi's hand. "Fandral is having a horse, looking for you." the gatekeeper informed. Loki rolled his eyes. "Who's Fandral?" Assi asked. "My childhood friend, but he's very protective over me, it's annoying." Loki replied. "Well you should get going before Fandral has twin horses. Enjoy your stay, Lady Assi." Heimdall said. She thanked him.

Assi and Loki walked down the Bifröst, quietly. Soon, a thought came to Assi. "Does Jörmungandr live-" "Who?" Loki asked looking at her with confusion. "The Midgard serpent, your son." Assi answered. Loki laughed. "Where did you get the idea of a serpent being my son?" "From Norse Mythology books." Assi said. Loki rolled his eyes when he heard her bring up the mythology books. "You shouldn't believe everything you read in those books." He knew that six of those things in those books were true, like Sif and Thor being married, Sif having a Son named Ullr, the time Loki was poisoned by a snake, Heimdall and his other brothers being Thor and Loki's half-brothers, and Sleipnir being his son of course. And Loki being a frost giant. "Oh okay, so uh is Balder alive?" Assi asked, the question just slipped out. "Of course, he is alive! Did those mortals write in their books that my brother is dead!?" Loki asked angrily. "Uh yes. In a story called 'The Death of Balder.' You tricked Höd into throwing a spear made of mistletoe at Balder." Assi explained. Loki stopped walking and stared at the golden city of Asgard. Assi wasn't sure if she should say something or not. "Those mortals twisted things." Loki said after a while, then started walking again. Assi decided not to talk about Norse Mythology anymore. "Oh, and I'm sorry that I stabbed you." She said. "It's alright." Loki smiled, just then a sharp pain ran through where Assi stabbed him.

Once they reached the city the pain moved through Loki's whole body, and he couldn't take it anymore. He didn't want Assi to worry or leave her alone in the city. Loki led Assi into the palace. He wanted to find someone that he could trust to keep an eye on her. "Tyr!" Loki called as he walked by them, Tyr stopped and turned to face them. "Yes? What is it and who is this?" Tyr asked. "This is Assi, she's a friend of mine." Loki said. The sound of calling the beautiful woman just a "friend" left a bad taste in Loki's mouth. "Nice to meet you." Assi said. "Yes, it is. I am Tyr Odinsson." He said. "Could you keep an eye on her for a bit?" Loki asked. Tyr agreed and Loki thanked him. He let go of Assi's hand and walked away. Loki compressed the wound on his side when he finally letting the pain cover his face. Tyr noticed that Assi was watching Loki but stayed quiet.

Fandral was working with the healers, he was the only man who worked in the healing room, he has been trained since he was a teenager. "Prince Loki are you alright?" one of the healers asked once he walked into the room. He released his side; "Sire, are you hurt?" Fandral asked running over to him, he noticed the red stain on his friend's tonic. Loki looked up at Fandral. Loki removed his armor and shirt then sat on the table. "No, I was picking berries." He said. "Of course I am!" "Oh my! Your highness what on Midgard happened!?" The healer named Eydis asked. Eydis and the other healers started to attend to Loki's wound. "I was stabbed by a mortal." He told the healer. "What did you do to this mortal that would make them stab you?" Eydis asked. She is a great friend of Frigg. "I kind of took her here against her will so she stabbed me, before she recognized me." Loki explained. He clenched his jaw when Eydis put a healing stone on his left side. "I'm sorry my prince, where did you meet this mortal woman?" Eydis asked. Loki smiled and looked at her. "Eydis, you sound like my mother. But we met on Midgard in Norway. I have been teaching her Norwegian." Loki said. He was glad that Assi wasn't mad at him, after last week. "Alright Your Highness. You're all set now." Eydis said. Loki thanked her and the other healer, along with his friend, although he didn't do much to help and just sat there worrying. He put his shirt and armor back on, then returned to Tyr and Assi.

"Loki is an annoying brother." Tyr complained to Assi just as Loki walked into the room. He put his arm around Assi which made her blush a bit, although only Tyr saw her blush. he smiled. "Why are you smiling?" Loki asked, "No reason, off you go, I have guard duty." Tyr said walking away. "How about I show you around so you can see what Asgard is really like." Loki offered. Assi agreed as Loki took her hand again.

Loki led Assi to the feasting hall, where a bunch of male Asgardians were sitting at the tables drinking wine, laughing, and telling jokes. There were golden pillars all around the room and a fireplace in a corner of the room. "This is Valhalla." Loki said. Assi looked up at him. "Isn't Valhalla like Heaven?" she said. Loki looked down and gave her a smile. "Yes, in a way it is." He replied. Gerd, the wife of Freyr walked up to them. "Hello." Loki placed a finger to his lips to stop Gerd from calling him 'Prince.' Because he still didn't want Assi to know who he really was, not yet at least. "Loki. Would you and your friend like some drinks?" Gerd asked. Loki shook his head. "No thank you, and I'm Assi." She said. "I'm Gerd. Nice to meet you Assi." she said smiling and then turned to Loki. "Your." She paused when Loki shook his head again and looked around to make sure no one was listening in on their conversation, "I'm not sure that the All-Father would like it if he knew you brought a mortal here." she remarked quietly. "Nor would he like it if you or any of the Valkyries served her." Loki said. Gerd nodded and walked away. Loki and Assi started to leave the great dining hall when they walked into Freyr and his servant Skírnir. "Good morning." Skírnir said bowing. Loki nodded at him then turned to Freyr. "Freyr this is Assi, she is visiting from Midgard. Assi, this is Freyr the god of plants, and a good friend of mine." Loki said. "Nice to meet you Freyr." Assi said holding out her hand. Freyr shook her hand. "Freyr and his twin sister Freyja are inbred." Loki said, Assi gasped, Freyr, his servant and Loki looked at her. "I know, it's-" Freyr started but was cut short by Assi. "You guys are like my Dachshunds!" Freyr smiled at her. "Really? how are your Dachshunds?" he asked. "Oh . . . uh they're dead." Assi said. Freyr's smile disappeared. Assi explained that her beloved dogs had passed away from different health complications. After she had finished explaining, Freyr went into Valhalla and rushed over to Freyja and hugged her.

The throne room was the next stop on the tour. "This is the throne room." He explained to the mortal woman. "Does it have a name?" Assi asked. Loki shook his head. "No it doesn't but the throne's name is Hildskjalf." He said, Assi looked up at Loki. "Sloth skirt?" she asked. "Hildskjalf." Loki said laughing. He found it was adorable how Assi said the name of the throne. He repeated the name again. "Not gonna happen. "Assi said. Loki chuckled then went on with the tour.

He led her through the golden city. As they walked through the town, people bowed as Loki walked past them, and greeted him with 'Good afternoon Your Majesty.' Or 'Your Highness.' Assi looked up at Loki. "You're a royal?" she asked. Loki nodded, he hoped that she wouldn't think different of him now that she knew he was a prince. "I'm sorry for assaulting you, your Highness." Assi apologized. "It's alright, and just Loki is fine." He said giving her a warm smile, she looked away and blushed. She loved Loki's smile. "Loki!" Thor called walking over to them with Fandral close behind him. "Yes brother?" Loki asked, glaring at Fandral who was smiling at Assi. "I think it's time for the mortal to return to Midgard." Thor answered. Loki growled when he heard Assi being referred to as a mortal, even though she was. Loki knew it would be best for her to return home before his father found out, so he conceded and went with Thor to the Bifröst. Fandral stayed in Asgard because he had a date with another goddess named Fulla.

As the three walked down the long bridge, Assi noticed how great Loki's butt was, and she hoped that he would not notice her admiring it. "Are you ready to go home lady Assi?" Heimdall asked when Thor, Loki and Assi reached the end of the Bifröst. "Yes." Assi replied. Loki brought her hand to his lips and kissed it. Assi giggled, blushing a bit. "Till we meet again." Loki said letting go of her hand. Thor smiled at the two. "You should be the one to take her home." he suggested. Loki liked the idea of staying with her a little longer. He looked at Assi. "I'd like that." She said. Heimdall opened the Bifröst, sending Assi and Loki through it. Once they landed, Heimdall closed it. "You see it don't you, my brother?" the gatekeeper asked turning to face Thor. "Yes, but does Loki and Assi see what is blooming between them?" Thor asked, "It is obvious that Lady Assi has feelings for our brother, but yet still our youngest brother denies his true feelings for her." Heimdall said turning to the stars. Thor went to stand with Heimdall. "Do you see why Loki denies his feelings?" he asked. "Yes. Assi's friend James Nain." Heimdall replied.

Loki kept his eyes on Assi as they walked to her apartment. Loki's heart was racing every time she looked at him. "Well here we are…I'll see you another time." Assi said giving him a smile. He smiled back. She turned away from him, opening the door of the apartment building. "I am sorry about last week." Loki said. "It's fine. Just don't do something like that again." She ordered. "I won't." He promised. "Oh and I'm sorry about Jim." Assi said without turning to face Loki. Then she went inside without another word. Loki walked away from the door. Assi looked out of the glass door, to get another glance at Loki's butt. When he was out of sight, Assi turned around and went up the stairs to her apartment.

"Assi!" Scarlett said once she opened the door and walked in. "Hey…sorry if I worried you." Assi said getting a hug from her best friend. "It's alright I'm just glad you're okay." Scarlett said letting go of her. They sat at the table as Assi told her all about Asgard. "I also noticed that Loki has a great butt. I guess you can say . . . he puts the ass in Asgard." Assi said, the two girls started to laugh. "I think Captain America has a great ass." Scarlett said between the laughs. Assi agreed.

Soon Austin walked into the apartment, he stared at the girls laughing their heads off. He was sure that they were talking about an inside joke. "Hello." He greeted. The girls looked at him. They waved. "Good to see you again and that you're alright, Assi." Austin said. She nodded unable to speak because of the laughter.

Austin and Scarlett went out for dinner, leaving Assi alone in the apartment. She sat in her room, reading about Norse Mythology, and talking to James on the phone. "You were with Loki!?" James asked furious. "Yes. He is my friend, what's wrong with me hanging out with a friend?" Assi asked. "Oh, a friend?" James was cut off by Assi hanging up on him. She threw her phone onto her bed. The phone rang again, but she ignored it. "Are you alright?" Loki asked. Assi jumped at the sound of his voice. "Yeah…Jim and I just had an argument." She answered Loki, he sat on the bed next to her. "Did he hurt you?" he asked. "No. He's just being a jerk." She said. Loki took her hand and rubbed it with his thumb, then he noticed the page that the book was opened on. "My punishment." He shivered at the memory. Assi looked up at him with shock on her face. "Did Odin really punish you like that?" Assi asked. Loki looked away. He stared at the wall for a long time. "Yes." He finally said turning back to Assi. He let go of her hand, stood up in front of her, and unhooked his shirt down the right side, revealing snake bites on his chest and shoulder. Assi gasped, stood up and without thinking she touched his chest. Loki shivered. "Sorry did I hurt you?" she asked looking up at him. "No." he smiled. She smiled back as she looked down his chest at the snake bites. "They look painful." She said running her fingers across the bites. "They are, or well they were." Loki said cringing when Assi's fingers touched the wounds on his chest. "When did this happen?" she asked blushing a lot when she realized what she was doing. "A few centuries ago." "I'm sorry." She said hugging him. he hugged her back. "Don't be. It's not your fault. I'm just glad that-" He was interrupted by Assi's phone starting to ring again. They let go of each other. Assi checked her phone but didn't answer it. "Who is it?" Loki asked fixing his shirt and looking over her shoulder. She turned to face Loki. "Jim." She said looking up. "Are you going to answer it?" She shook her head. "Right now, I don't want to deal with him." Loki smiled and held out his hand for her. "Then will you come with me back to Asgard?" Loki asked. Assi smiled then took his hand. They left the apartment and returned to Asgard. "Welcome back to Asgard." Heimdall greeted the mortal with a kind smile. Assi smiled back. "Did you send Loki to see me?" She asked him. "Yes, I thought he would be able to cheer you up." Heimdall replied. "Thank you." Assi said. Heimdall nodded then Loki and Assi went to the palace.
