Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson
Sorry it's been so long. I just started college and have barely had anytime to write, although I have been devoting time to planning this story so I know where I'm going with this.
Chapter 2: The Arrival of New Half-Bloods
Six years later…
Christina sat down on a rock situated outside her cabin, the scrape of her whetstone against her sword, θαλασσοθύελλα or Seastorm, hardly audible with the amount of noise around the camp. In the six years since she had arrived at Camp Half-Blood, she had changed considerably. Her black wavy hair, which always looked windswept, like she had been spending time on a windy cliff, came down to the middle of the back. Her green eyes, which changed with the state of the waves along the edge of Long Island, were currently a bright green, matching the calm, clear waves in the water. She wore her bright orange Camp Half-Blood t-shirt over a pair of jeans and black combat boots, along with her camp necklace with its' six beads.
Christina looked up from sharpening her sword outside cabin three, as other half-bloods ran past the cabins, heading for the hill. Standing up, she grabbed one of the younger campers by the wrist, although she only came up to his waist.
"What's going on?" She questioned. "Why is everyone running towards the hill?"
The camper she had grabbed turned to face her. She recognized him from the Apollo cabin but didn't know his name. "Three new demigods just arrived with Grover, and there's a rumor going around that one of them is a daughter of Zeus. But they were followed by a bunch of monsters, so everyone's going to help."
Christina gasped and sprinted up towards the hill, her sword already out, and managing to keep pace with most of the campers, except for the Hermes kids, even though her legs were much shorter. But as she reached the top of Half-Blood Hill, a large crowd of campers had already gathered, making it impossible to see what was going on.
Using her small size, Christina pushed through the throng of campers, mumbling a quick apology to Castor and Pollux, the ten-year-old twin sons of Mr. D, before finally making it to the front. But what she saw made her gasp. Her best friend Grover sat under a huge, towering pine tree that hadn't been there prior, his head in his hands. Just off to the left of him sat two demigods that Christina had never seen before.
The younger of the two demigods, a girl with blonde, curly hair close to Christina's age, sat curled in upon herself. In her hands she clutched a dagger that was nearly as long as her arm, due to her small size, and stared at it like it was the source of all her problems. She wore a t-shirt and shorts that were both ripped and shredded in various places, showing bloody cuts that hadn't healed properly yet. She was holding her ankle gingerly, as if she had twisted it.
The other demigod sat with his arm around the girl. He was much older, in his early teens with blonde hair, blue eyes, and an athletic build. His discarded sword lay on the ground next to him, and he was staring towards the pine tree, tears pricking at the corner of his eyes that Christina could see even from the distance she was at.
Across Half-Blood Hill, Christina could see the remains of what looked like monsters, the gold dust disappearing into the bright, summer sky. Just then Chiron came trotting up the hill from the Big House, in full centaur form. Turning towards the gathered crowd of campers, which included most of the camp by now, he addressed them.
"Everyone go back to your activities, with the exception of a few medics from the Apollo cabin. You'll meet the new campers tonight at dinner." He told them, before turning to the young girl on the ground.
The crowd began to disperse, and Christina heard a few mutterings from other demigods, speculating on what could have happened, as their counselors herded them away. Her sword transformed into a bracelet, fitting itself around her wrist, having sensed that she didn't have to use it. Glancing towards the lake, Christina smiled to herself. A swim sounded nice right now.
Three hours later…
Christina climbed out of the lake, waving goodbye to a friendly naiad, and using her powers to dry her hair and clothes off. She started to head back to her cabin, hoping to grab her sword and go through a couple of training dummies before dinner, or maybe climb the lava wall, when she was interrupted by Chiron.
The centaur trotted across the grass, making a beeline for her, the new girl from Half-Blood Hill following a few paces behind, as campers moved out of the way to make room for the activities director. The cuts that had been on the girl previously were all healed now, obviously the work of ambrosia and nectar, and she was wearing a Camp Half-Blood t-shirt and a new pair of shorts.
"Christina," Chiron said, coming to a stop in front of the young demigod. "This is Annabeth Chase, she's new here and seven years old. I was hoping you could show her around Camp Half-Blood, since she is about your age. Her belongings have already been moved into cabin eleven. I trust you will make her feel at home."
Christina nodded. "I will Chiron."
Chiron trotted off, heading towards the archery range for his master's archery class and Christina turned back towards cabin three, Annabeth following behind her.
"My name's Christina Keeper." She introduced herself. "Welcome to Camp Half-Blood. Have you been claimed yet?"
Annabeth shook her head. "No, but hopefully I will be soon, the Hermes cabin seems awfully crowded. Who's your godly parent?"
"Poseidon." Christina informed her. "He's the god of the sea, earthquakes, and horses. I'm his only child, so my cabin is pretty empty."
Annabeth frowned. "Why don't you have siblings? Doesn't that get really lonely?"
"I'm not supposed to have any." Christina explained. "Chiron won't tell me much, since I'm only six, but some sort of pact was made between the Big Three gods to not have any children. My mom left me here when I was a baby, and I've been here ever since."
Annabeth nodded. "Do you have a weapon?" She asked, changing the subject.
"This is Seastorm." Christina said grinning, unfastening a silver bracelet from around her wrist as it turned into a long, celestial bronze sword. It has a Greek name, but I struggle to pronounce it so I just call it Seastorm. It transforms into a bracelet when I'm not using it."
Annabeth reached down, pulling the celestial bronze dagger out of her boot that she had been staring at when Christina first saw her on the hill. "This is my dagger. It doesn't have a special name, but it kills monsters. Is there a training ground somewhere?"
"Follow me." Christina said grinning, turning down the hill, her new friend behind her.
On the porch of the Big House, both Chiron and Grover stood watching the two young demigods disappear out of sight, Grover leaning a bit on the railing as he recovered from the battle that caused Thalia Grace to become a pine tree. A ghost of a smile made its' way onto Chiron's face
"It's just as I suspected," Chiron thought to himself. "Those two will be good for each other, if a little terrifying together."
As the chapters get closer and closer to where The Lightning Thief actually starts, I will be including backstories for a lot of the minor characters, because with the exception of the main characters and the ones who are shown coming to camp, we have no idea how long characters like Silena, Clarisse, the Stolls, and Katie have been at camp. I also like the side characters and want to put more focus on them, so expect a lot of them going foreword.
Also, I basically just put the translation of Christina's sword into Google Translate and got the Greek version, since there isn't a translator for Ancient Greek. I have zero clue how to pronounce that, so I'll be addressing it by the English name, although if there are any Greek speakers who know how to pronounce it, or if it is even right, please message me.
Please review. I love reviews.
