Chapter 14: A Camp Half-Blood Interlude

Will groaned as he walked out of the Apollo cabin, taking in the scene before him. Both the Ares and the Hermes cabins were outside, arguing back and forth with each other. Luke and Clarisse seemed to be in the middle of a passionate debate about some topic, while the rest of their cabins glared at one another.

"What's going on?" He asked, walking over to Katie and Miranda, who were standing off to the side with the rest of the Demeter cabin.

Katie sighed. "The Ares cabin is supporting Zeus, while the Hermes cabin is supporting Poseidon. They've been at it for the past ten minutes. Aphrodite and Athena are already backing Zeus, although I don't know where the rest of the cabins stand."

Will glanced around at everyone else. The Athena and Aphrodite cabins had taken to standing behind Ares, while the Hephaestus and Dionysus cabins were behind Hermes. The rest of the Demeter cabin, along with the Apollo cabin stood along the side, not sure who to support.

"What's going on?" Chiron demanded, trotting up, the campers moving aside to make room for him.

Clarisse crossed her arms. "Luke and I were debating about who to support, Zeus or Poseidon. I said Zeus, while Luke said Poseidon. "

"This isn't something you should be concerning yourself with." Chiron said, frowning.

Clarisse scowled. "My father is the god of war, of course this is something I should be concerning myself with. We're demigods, Chiron, like it or not, we're always involved with the gods' battles."

Behind her, the rest of the Ares' cabin, along with the Hermes and Hephaestus cabins, and some of the Apollo and Demeter cabins nodded in agreement.

Chiron sighed. "Fine. But no war has broken out yet, keep that in mind."

"None of this is going to end well." Will muttered, watching as Chiron left and Luke and Clarisse resumed their argument.

Katie nodded. "You got that right."

"Nothing's going well at all Chiron." Will told the centaur a few hours later, as he walked up to the Big House porch where the activities director was playing pinochle with an invisible opponent. "I've already had to break up two fights between the Ares and Hermes campers, and even the Demeter and Aphrodite kids are getting involved."

Chiron sighed, setting down his cards. "I apologize for that my boy. But I'm afraid there's not much we can do, except keep it from escalating, until Grover, Annabeth, Percy, and Christina get back, especially with Mr. D gone."

"Where is Mr. D anyway?" Will asked, sitting down in a chair on the porch.

"Lord Zeus called him back to Olympus for a meeting." Chiron told him. "Thank you for coming to me Will. We can only hope that we can hold off the camp from descending into total chaos."

Will nodded. "We just need to hold out a little longer."

Luke sighed, sitting down on his bed with his head in his hands the minute he got into his room. Absolutely none of this was going as planned. He had been able to shift the blame onto Percy, but then Christina, Annabeth, and Grover had all decided to go on the quest, putting themselves into unnecessary danger.

"I need to figure out how to get them to my side." He thought to himself, laying back on the bed. "Annabeth and Grover might be easier, they saw what happened to Thalia. But Christina has always hated her mom, not her dad. And now she has a brother for the first time, she won't want to lose him."

Luke groaned, this was going to be more difficult than anything he had ever done before, but he had to do it, in order to get justice for his mom, the unclaimed demigods in his cabin, and all the demigods who had lost their lives to the gods' whims. Something had to happen, and he only hoped he wouldn't lose his younger sisters in the process.
