Guest: Thank you for the review, I wasn't expecting one so quickly. I'm glad you loved the chapter. Of course, I don't mind if you request something. I can do a chapter where Cal completely breaks down. Do you have any idea what you would like him to break down over?

brownen100: Thank you for the review. Also, thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you think I'm doing an amazing job at portraying Cal.

This chapter was prompted by HolbyCityFanfics with the prompt: Ethan doesn't want to admit that his symptoms are worsening, but he refuses to accept that he needs a wheelchair, until it's too late.

Two updates in one night, sorry for the short chapter.

The Secret Life Of Casualty.

Chapter 259.

Ethan was standing at the nurses Station, trying to write up his patient notes when his hand jerked and went off the page. It was like when you pressed down too hard on the paper and you caused it to rip, but Ethan knew it wasn't that. In his mind, he kept picturing Emile, an oxygen mask on her face, a blanket around her shoulders. He knew he would soon be like that with Cal doing everything for him.

"What's up?" Cal asked, walking towards his brother, adjusting his stethoscope.

Ethan pulled himself out of his thoughts about his late mum.

"Leave me alone, Caleb, " Ethan snapped, closing the patient file, but as he walked away, Cal noticed that he was walking with a limp.

The younger Nibbles headed in to RESUS to help Lily treat a patient, but before he could, he slumped to the floor and started fitting. Lily crouched down beside him and supported his head. "Ethan, can you hear me?" She asked, she yelled through the double doors for help.

Cal raced in to RESUS and knelt down next to his unconscious brother, before helping Lily get him on to the bed.

"What happened?" Ethan asked as he started to come round.

"You had a seizure, mate, " Cal informed him.

But he was struck as Ethan took the blankets off himself and got out of the bed and limped through the double doors.

Cal ran a hand over his face, he was at a loss at how to help him. He decided to go and see Charlie as the older man had said that his office door was always open for a chat.

He knocked on the door.

"Come in, " Charlie called.

Cal walked in.

"What can I do for you Cal?" He asked.

"A chat about Ethan?" He asked.

Charlie nodded as Cal pulled the spare seat out. "I don't know what to do. "

"Just give him time, " Charlie told him.

If Ethan got in to that wheelchair, he would lose all of his independence.

Cal put the break on the wheelchair and put his hands on his shoulders.

"It doesn't make you weak, Ethan, " Cal tried to reassure him.

"It does, Cal, " Ethan sobbed.

Cal felt Ethan bury himself in to him. "Shush, mate, "

Ethan felt a tear slide down his cheek. This was how his mum spent her final moments and now he faced the same fate.

Cal wheeled his brother out of the hospital and helped him in to the car, and on with his belt, as he knew with his shaking hands he would struggle.

On the couch, Ethan could feel his leg jerking, he was powerless to stop it.

"Why me?" He thought as tears rolled down his cheeks, he felt like crying until he had no tears left.

Cal walked in to the living room to see Ethan asleep on the couch, he grabbed a blanket and put it over him.

He whispered: "I'm not going anywhere, Nibbles. " He said as he stroked his hair.
