CBloom2: Thank you for the review, I'm glad you think it was lovely. I'm really hoping Cal isn't going to be the death, but I unfortunately think he will be :(

bronny9: Thank you for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. I'm hoping it will turn out like that as well, but I don't think it's going to end well for Cal unfortunately.

This chapter was prompted by Ffion with the prompt: Alicia bullies Cal, but will Ethan comfort his brother?

I'm sorry this chapter has taken a while to get up, for some reason, I was struggling with this chapter. This is quite a small chapter as the previous one was quite long.

The Secret Life Of Casualty.

Chapter 292.

Cal froze as Connie announced the news, there was a snake in the ED, snakes were his secret fear, a fear not even Ethan knew about. As Connie instructed the team to stay calm and that she was going to call the RSPCC to have someone remove the snake, she turned and headed up the stairs to her office. Alicia noticed Cal's terrified face expressions as she pretended to flick through a set of patient notes.

"Scared of a little snake, Cal?" She could tell by his pale skin he was as she continued. "I bet Ethan wouldn't be. "

Cal wanted to scream at her to stop, but it seemed the words were stuck in his throat as tears started to sting his eyes.

"You could never be a surgeon. " She laughed, but what she didn't know was that her ex - boyfriend Ethan was in earshot and had heard every word.

Cal started to cry, he knew it would give Alicia more reason to be more mean to him, but he couldn't help it.

Ethan put down the set of notes he'd been carrying and slowly turned to face Alicia before he spoke. "I want you to leave us both alone. " He said it calmly, but inside he was angry.

Alicia stood there, stunned that Ethan had shouted at her.

"Cone on Cal. " Said Ethan as he took him in to the staff room to collect his things, then he signed them both out and then headed towards the car, opened Cal's door and guided him in, before helping him with his belt and going round to the drivers seat and starting the engine. He was really worried about Cal, he could usually take his colleagues being mean to him, but not this time, this time, it seemed that his colleagues word had hit a nerve.

Parking up in the drive, he turned off the engine and got out, before holding Cal's door open for him. They walked through the door and headed up the stairs, Ethan unlocking the door.

He sat him on the couch and switched on the TV and found something for Cal to watch, while he went in to the kitchen to make them both a cup of hot milk as it was Cal's favourite drink as a child. He placed both mugs on the table and then went in to Cal's room to get his phone, which he had left on charge, when he noticed something familiar folded on the end of the bed. He picked it up, it was Cal's blanket, it was blue and it had trains on, he knew it was bound to calm Cal down a little, when he heard a scream. He hurried back to the living room and handed it to him, as he buried his face in to it. This helped relieve Ethan as he had never seen Cal in that state before.

"What got you so upset before?" Ethan asked, gently.

"I'm sick of pretending things don't bother me when they do. " Cal answered, honestly.

Ethan shrugged his shoulders. "It's fine, I won't date someone who is rude to you. "

Cal gave a small smile. "Thanks mate. "

"That's ok's Cal " Ethan said, as they decided on the movie, they decided to watch the Peter Pan movie.

Ethan put it in the DVD machine and grabbed the remote as they settled on the couch with popcorn and fizzy drinks, much like they did when they children and they laughed at Cal's favourite bits. After the movie finished, the two headed to Cal's room to get comfy for bed as they cuddled each other.
