A little Alicia piece I write quickly.

The Secret Life Of Casualty.

Chapter

"Sorry Dad, I can't make it. "

Leaning against the staff room counter, Alicia sends the text, she knows will break her dads heart,

"Why not Scobbie?" Her dad replies.

"Busy shift, " She lies, grateful that he can't see her. She puts her phone back in her locker and adjusts her stethoscope, before heading back out in to the hustle and bustle of the ED. She's in RESUS, having just stabilised her patient, she's in need of a break when Ethan catches up with her.

"Thought you were catching a train to Scotland?" He asks.

"I cancelled it, "She replies.

"Why?" Ethan asked. For a minute, he sounds like he cares, Alicia wants to scream: Because of you, Ethan.

She shrugs her shoulders. "We are busy Ethan. "

"That's doctor Hardy, to you. " He replies.

She rolls her eyes. Ever since he got the role of acting clinical lead, he's changed. He's no longer grieving for Cal, he's knee deep in budgets and reports, not going home until late and then coming in early the next morning, it won't be long until he collapses with exhaustion but Alicia finds she doesn't care. She heads home, relieved to have the flat to herself for a while and skypes her parents, her heart gives a pang as she notices her old colleagues mates, who she'd stayed mates with, but she wasn't aware they were going tonight.

"Happy birthday dad" She whispers.
