Just a little Adam piece I wrote when I couldn't sleep, it hints at him and Jessica. It was kind of written to see if I could write Adam as I do find him a struggle (even though he's now left)
CBloom2: Thank you so much for the review, I enjoyed writing it.
The Secret Life Of Casualty
Chapter 332
Adam Trueman didn't think he'd love again, not after the departure of his wife after the loss of their first child together; blinded by grief, she'd quit her job and moved to America with her two children.
He'd kept himself to himself the first few days, locking himself in his office, staring at the pictures of his son that he kept on his desk. Harry had been a mini him. He was pulled out of his thoughts by a knock on the door."Come in," He called, thw door opened and Tess appeared with a woman that he didn't recognise.
I"Tess, what can I do for you" He asks.
"This is Kirsty Clements, our new nurse" She introduces.
Adam knew exactly who she was replacing.
"Adam, please" he'd introduced himself, holding out his hand for the new nurse to shake it.
She had shaken it, murmuring her own name in reply. Kirsty, she said it was. Tess leaves Adam and Kirsty to it. She reminds him of her; petite build, chocolate brown eyes, a smile on her face
Adam runs as he headed back to his own house. Hanging up hus coat in the hallway, he spotted a picture of his wedding day and picked it up, he'd been happy, she'd been happy and then it had all gone wrong. It hunted her that's why she left, denial about living when their baby boy was rotting in the ground; she'd rather he have saved him before her but he couldn't see him as the water was too dark. The next picture is of Harry: he's dressed in a blue sleeping suit with a matching hat. If he could of seen him, he would have saved him.
He heads up the stairs and goes in to his room, the bed seems empty; her side remains untouched, her pillow carries a faint smell of her perfume. He resists the urge to press it to his face as his eyes close.
He wakes the next morning, used to the sound of her children getting ready for school, but the house is silent. He has a shower and puts on his scrubs, heading down stairs where she would usually be feeding Harry a bottle; signs of their happier life, but that's gone now. He locks the door, leaving for work.
He'd bumped in to her in cubicles that morning, she sends him little smiles.
she returns that night, blood on her face, claiming she's been mugged, only later would Adam find out she's being abused by her husband and has been for years. They have a daughter called Nita, she's 14. When she countinues to come in with more bruises.
He'd followed he home one night, the route familiar to him, as that's where his wife had lived before they had got together.
Kirsty breaks down, admitting Warren is abusing her, that she wants to leave town to escape him, in case he turns on Nita.
"I'm sure he wouldn't do that," Adam says.
"You don't know what he's like," Kirsty replies, her eyes wide in fear.
Adam offers her and her daughter a room at his house, it's big enough for them and sleeps on the couch, he's never taken advantage of a woman and he's not about to start now.
A picture of her holding their son, stares back at him from on top of the mantelpiece.
"I'm glad your happy, Jess," He whispers, in to the dark.
Thank you for reading.
