The Secret Life Of Casualty.

Chapter 342.

Ethan walked to the coffee shop, having got his wallet out of his locker. He was going to order what he'd always got: A cup of tea. There wasn't many customers in the queue and he was relieved it meant that he could get served faster.

"Hi, can I have?" He started to speak when the barrister turned to him, her black curly hair bouncing slightly. Ethan's eyes widened as he realised who this was. It was Leigh - Ann. "What are you doing here?" He asked, aware that it sounded rude.

"I need money to support Keigan and I, " She told him, grabbing a plastic cup.

Ethan nodded, it was because of him that her baby boy was without a father, only he couldn't tell her that.

"I could give you money if you needed it, " He told her.

"I can manage." Leigh - Ann wasn't a free loader, Scott had provided for himself and her, but now with a baby and Scott in the ground, it was just the two of them.

"Well, I'm here if you need me, " He smiled, watching as she put the finished drink on the counter, Ethan handed her the money and walked away.

Should I tell her about Cal?

That was what was going through his mind as he sipped his tea in the staff room, if he did that he'd be opening up a bigger can of worms, he knew there would be hell to pay if and when she found out, he'd killed her partner, he would most likely lose his job as well. Scott was his one regret. Before Cal had died, he wouldn't have hesitated to save a patient, but when he saw Scott being wheeled in to RESUS after his fall, patronising him about Cal, that Ethan saw his chance when Scott started to choke on his own vomit, instead of turning him on his side and using the suction tube, he walked away, carrying a heavy load of guilt, but in a way, justice for Cal.

After he finished his drink, he binned the plastic cup and got back to work. He was in cubicles, which meant that he could see customers (doctors, nurses, and relatives of patients) queuing up, he could also see Leigh - Ann handling it well.

When both of their shifts ended, he could see her hanging up her apron and head to the lifts (she was most likely picking Keigan up from the crèche) As the lifts doors were about to close, Ethan jumped in to them, Leigh - Ann looked shocked to see him.

"Ethan, what are you doing here?"

"I need to tell you something, " He said, knowing this wasn't going to be easy.
