The Secret Life Of Casualty.

Chapter 369.

Sam knew she always wanted children and as soon as her and Tom had left Holby after getting married and had brought a house, they set about trying, but it just wasn't happening. Tom had told her they just had to be patient, but it had never happened. Looking back, she was glad that it had never happened.

But did she still feel the same now? She was back in full time employment following her return to Holby and as a paramedic, she could work long hours; could she really bring a baby in to this? That's if she was pregnant, she had to find out. She'd have to buy a test though. She headed to the local chemist and brought a test. She headed to the bathroom and sat on the edge of the bath, turning the box over in her hands before making the decision to open the box and slip the stick out along with the instructions, reading them. She had to pee on the stick, wait a few minutes, then wait for the result, but what result did she want, she wasn't sure. She wet the stick, then waited.

Pregnant.

Sam felt her mouth go dry. She knew she had to tell Jacob, this was his child as well. She sent Jacob, a text, asking if he could come over. He replied, he'd be over after his shift. That gave Sam time to try to decide what she wanted to say to him.

She stiffened when the doorbell rang and wished she could have a glass of wine, but she knew for the next few months, she couldn't.

"Jacob?" She greeted, opening the door.

"Yes, sweetcheeks?" He said, when they were in the kitchen.

"I'm um. " She was hesitating and Sam didn't do hesitation.

"Sam?" Jacob said.

"I'm um. "

Why was Sam finding this difficult? She often brought pregnant patients to the ED, either because they'd had an accident or because they were in labour.

"What's the matter, Sam?" Jacob asked, stroking her cheek.

"I'm pregnant, " She whispered.

"Really?" Jacob asked, he had Blake, but hadn't known about him for ages, under the impression that Elle's ex husband, Mark, was Blake's father.

Sam nodded, slowly. Jacob was quiet.

"Say something" Sam said, not understanding or liking his silence.

"Are you sure it's mine?" He asked.

Sam couldn't believe he was asking this. "It's yours, " He replied.

Jacob walked out of her flat, leaving her to stare after him in shock.
