The Secret Life Of Casualty.

Chapter 520

As Ruby left Iain's house, she was keeping an eye on it for him, while he was working with HEM's, early one morning, she wrapped her scarf tighter around her neck as she locked the door and headed to her car, which was parked in the drive. She didn't want to go in today, she didn't feel well, it had started off as a cold: the sniffles, a blocked nose, but she didn't want to let Jan down. She got in to her car and stared in to the rear mirror, before she started the engine and was soon pulling in to the Ambulance Bay, she parked up, turned off the engine and headed out of the car.

"Morning love, " Jan said, brightly as she stood at the small kitchen area making herself a coffee, before the busy day started.

Ruby unwound her scarf. "Morning Jan, "

"Ready for a busy day, Ruby?" Jan asked, taking a swig of her coffee when her walkie talkie alerted them to the fact they were needed on the Farmead Estate. Ruby grabbed her kit and met Jan in the ambulance. Ruby was quiet while Jan drove them to the Farmead Estate, the patient was a man who thought it would be funny while drunk to stick his head through the railings, only to get his leg caught.

"Hi, Bob, my name's Ruby, I'm a paramedic, " Ruby said as she handed him the entnox tube.

Ruby stared at Bob's leg, the black railing was sticking through his leg. Injuries on patients didn't usually faze her, but the sight of blood in the wound from the spike was making her feeling ill.

"Ruby, can you get me a collar and board?" Jan asked.

"Yep, " Ruby smiled and stood up, heading to the ambulance, but as she opened the door, she passed out.

"Ruby" Jan said, the young blonde was lying in a motionless state.

"Ruby, can you hear me?" Jan asked, placing her fingers on Ruby's wrist to see if she could feel a pulse, in the young blonde. She called another ambulance crew to deal with Bob while Josh drove her and back to the ED. During the jounrey, Jan slid her hand in to the younger blondes.

Alerting Charlie and Duffy to the fact she had the young blonde, they managed to get her unseen in to a cubicle.

"What happened?" Ruby asked, she was in a cubicle, an oxygen mask over her face, a pulse oximeter clipped on to her finger, a drip in her hand, giving her some fluids.

"You fainted, Ruby" Jan told her. "I'm going to look after you."

"You don't have to do that Jan" Ruby replied, removing the mask. She never did like feeling like she was a burden.

Jan shook her head. "Nonsense"

Jan never told Ruby this, but since her troubles with Dani and Iain almost taking his life and the shock of Ruby finding him unconscious, Jan almost looked upon Ruby as a daughter.

Ruby had never been in Jan's house before and she was nervous, they had gone to Iain's and she had packed a bag.

"I'll make up the spare room for you. " Jan said as Ruby sat in her living room, on the couch.

"Thanks Jan. " Said Ruby as she sipped the coffee Jan had made her, saying she needed to keep her strenght up.

When Jan went to check up on Ruby, she found she was asleep, Jan did something she never did: she kissed her forehead.

I hope this is what guest wanted.
