Guest: Thank you for the review. I quite enjoy writing for Ruby and Iain even if they aren't in my comfort zone.

Just a reminder for the Iain and Ruby one shots that are being written: in some of them, for example this one: they are mates, but in others, they are married and have two children, a boy and a girl, who are three months.

The Secret Life Of Casualty.

Chapter 521

After being discharged from the ED for her panic attack, Ruby was surprised when Iain offered to walk her home.

"You don't have to Iain, " Ruby blushed as she left the cubicle.

Instead, Iain put an arm around Ruby's shoulders. "I'm going to look after you, " Knowing she now lived alone on a flat on the Farmead Estate, after Alicia had put her house on the market, after making the decision to move to Manchester to chase her dreams, Iain spoke again. "Why don't you come and live with me?"

Ruby stared at Iain. "I don't know. "

"Come on, Rubes"

The only person Iain had lived with was Lily but even she had left him, she put her dreams ahead of a relationship with him even though she had told him she loved him. If she loved him, she would have stayed. Despite kissing Ruby, he saw her like a kid sister, like Gem.

Iain rubbed his hands together. What was the point on her paying money on a small flat when he had a big house there, too big for one ex paramedic. Some nights he got lonely. And missed having someone around who he could watch his action films with Lily was always saying she found them too scary.

"Just for a few nights, " Ruby said and if it went well, she might move in with him for good.

"Deal" Iain said as they headed towards Jan's to get her overnight back, Jan wasn't in, but she'd once told both of them were her spare key was left. Ruby unlocked the door and went up the stairs, in to the spare room where she had been staying and packed her bag, before heading down stairs and leaving Jan a note.

Thanks for letting me stay Jan.

She picked up her bag, left the note on the coffee table and walked out, locking the door behind her.
