The Secret Life Of Casualty.
Chapter 535.
Ethan Hardy feels sick, it's the day after his brother has been stabbed and despite the teams best efforts to save him, he had died. Ethan had clung to his brothers body, while watching the team disconnect the ventilator, and take down the bags which are filled with blood and saline which could have helped save his life. He feels a firm but gentle hand on his shoulder.
"Ethan, it's time,"
Ethan knows who the voice belongs to. "Charlie, I can't. I wasn't there when he needed me and now he's. " Ethan knows if he says the word, he will throw up.
Cal's wheeled to the morgue where colleagues pay their last respects to him.
Ethan steps in, his brothers body is covered with a white sheet. Ethan slowly peels back the sheet and takes his brothers hand, it's cold. He shivers, Cal never liked the cold. "I'm sorry, Cal. I'm so sorry,"
"Ethan, " A voice whispers, he vaguely recongises the voice, but right now, he can't put a name to who the voice belongs too. "It isn't your fault," they continue, stepping in to the morgue, Ethan finally glances at them to realise the person is female, she's a nurse and she's suffered her own loss.
"Whose fault is it?" He snaps. "If he hadn't of been protecting me, he'd still be here."
"I know how you feel." she whispers.
"No, you don't, your baby drowned, my brother was stabbed, there's a difference."
He knows he's gone too far, judging by the tears in her eyes, but she reaches in to her pocket and pulls out a tissue and dabs at her eyes. She knows she should leave Ethan now and does so, with a pat of his hand.
Ethan turns his attention to his brother. "I'm really sorry, mate,"
Ethan leans down and kisses his brothers forehead. "Goodnight, mate. Love you."
Takes place in series 31, EP, 32, when Cal dies, with a little bit of Jess thrown in, even though her and Ethan never knew each other.
