The Secret Life Of Casualty.
She walks through the cemetery towards the grave, her hair blowing in the cold wind, as she clutches a single flower, heading to the grave of her son.
Harry Trueman.
Only child of Adam Trueman and Jessica Harrison.
Reading the words on the stone, Jess feels her heart shatter. She senses footsteps behind her and a hand lays on her shoulder, it's firm, but gentle.
"Hey, Jess"
"Adam." Jess responds, she hasn't heard his voice in a long time, but one she's never forgotten. "I miss him,"
Adam wraps an arm around his ex- wife's shaking shoulder. "I know, I do too. But Alex is looking after him. "
Jess gives a watery smile.
"Fancy a coffee?" He asks.
"Sure"
Putting an arm around her as they exit the cemetery, the ex couple head to a local cafe.
"One coffee, one tea, please?" Adam requests as Jess sits at a table near the window as she unwinds her scarf and takes off her gloves. "Here you go, Jess" Adam says as he places a mug of steaming tea in front of her, watching her clasp it for warmth."How's America?" He asks.
"It's OK, " She says, "I'm sorry, I left, Adam, but-"
"Jess, I know," He'd been angry at her the weeks after the accident, as he'd watched over her while she lay in a coma, a tube in her mouth, but after the funeral, she'd made the decision to take her children and leave the country and placed her wedding ring in Adam's hand, they'd both shed tears as they kissed, aware it would be for the last time.
He stands and as they leave the cafe, he drapes his coat over her, and as the clock strikes midnight, they share a kiss.
Some Adam and Jess I wrote as I miss this couple.
