"Do you have Christmas plans," Arizona asked Teddy.
"Dani and I will spend the day with Owen and his mom," Teddy said, "what about you?"
"Flying home to see my parents," Arizona replied, "how are things with Owen?"
"Excellent," Teddy smiled, "he's slowly moving in."
"How do you slowly move in," Arizona asked.
"Start with staying one night a week," Teddy said, "we're up to three and him having stuff at the house now. Added a third desk to the den. We have a time line were working with."
"Time line," Arizona said.
"I want him fully in by spring," Teddy said, "we have a dead line in June."
"June," Arizona asked.
They had agreed they would start telling their coworkers about their baby now that Teddy was 14 weeks.
"I'm due June fourth," Teddy said nonchalantly.
"What," Arizona asked, "are you?"
"I'm pregnant," Teddy said, "14 weeks."
"Congratulations," Arizona yelled hugging Teddy.
"What are we celebrating," Bailey asked, walking in with callie.
"Teddy is pregnant," Arizona said.
"Two kids," Bailey said, "you'll be busy Altman. Congratulations!"
"Congrats Teddy," Callie said, "when are you due?"
"June 4th," Teddy said, "summer at home with one possibly two kids."
"Maybe two your having a baby and are raising your sister," Bailey said.
"Danika has applied and is auditioning for a few summer intensives," Teddy said, "like summer camp for ballerinas she goes for a month and dances a lot and does summer camp things."
"Sending her to camp so you can bond with your baby," Callie asked, it seemed out of character for how close Teddy kept Danika and how careful Teddy was with her sister. But this was unexpected as well.
"She wants to do a summer away from Park Ridge," Teddy said, "her teachers think she's ready. She'll be 15. She's ready for four or five weeks away. She asked me about it, I was going to keep her where she is this summer and look at out of town in a year."
"Then don't send her," Bailey said.
"She doesn't ask for much," Teddy said, "it might be okay for Owen and I to have the month with the baby. I told Danika she could audition for the summer programs, it doesn't mean she'll go and she's guaranteed a spot at home."
"Say no," Arizona said, "take the stress off yourself."
"Dad would have wanted her to go," Teddy said.
"Can we come back to you being pregnant," Callie said, "since when."
"We found out in October," Teddy said, "so around the beginning of September."
"You and Hunt," Bailey clarified.
"Yes," Teddy said, "we're happy."
"So getting married," Callie asked.
"If he asks," Teddy said, "I'm not going to rush it."
"So living together," Bailey said, "if you're having a baby."
"He's slowly moving in," Teddy said, "we have a super sensitive 14 year old to make sure she feels safe."
"How did she take it," Arizona asked.
"We knew for about a week before I told Dani," Teddy said, "she knew something was up. I was sick in the mornings for a few weeks and Dani picked up on that and that combined with having Owen take her to school when I was sick she worried. She thought about when our dad was sick. No one told her dad was sick until I did. A month before dad passed. He had been sick for seven or eight months before they told Dani. she asked Owen if it was the same as when dad died."
"Poor kid," Arizona said.
"I don't know why she wasn't told," Teddy said, "I never got the change to ask dad and June wouldn't talk to me unless I forced it."
"How is she with the baby," Bailey asked.
"Baby is a lot better than Owen. she's excited about being an auntie ," Teddy admitted, "with Owen it's awkward. He's my boyfriend but we have to be adults for her. He never knows when he can step in and direct or help her. He'll say something if she asks him for help and she will just ask both of us and who ever answers."
"I'd say talk to both of them," Bailey said, "Ben steps in with Tuck and parents him."
"Tuck is 3," Teddy replied, "Dani is almost 15."
"Find out how much Owen wants to take on that role with you," Callie suggested, "how's he with your baby?"
"He's really excited," Teddy said, "it's really bugging him that he can't be at my place every night. He wants to be there for everything. Owen is amazing with all of this."
"I'm amazing with what," Owen asked walking into the lounge.
"Congrats Hunt," Bailey said, "gonna put a ring on it?"
"Bailey," Teddy gasped.
Owen looked at Teddy.
"I told them," Teddy said.
"You did," Owen said.
"It was time," Teddy said, "we agreed it was time."
"It is," Owen agreed.
Teddy wrapped her arms around Owen and leaned into him.
"You okay," Owen whispered into her hair.
"Just missing you," Teddy whispered back.
"Let's go for a walk," Owen said, "it's snowing."
"I have time," Teddy said.
Owen led her out of the lounge and to the locker room to get her coat.
They stood outside in the ambulance bay watching the snowfall. Owen stood behind her resting his chin on her shoulder, both of their hands resting on her stomach.
"This weekend," Teddy said, "final Nutcracker shows. We need to be at both on Saturday."
"We will be," Owen said, "I wanted to talk to you about that."
"What about it," Teddy asked.
"Danika," Owen said, "you don't have to do it yourself. Teddy when I said I was all in I meant it. Let me help. I can be a safe adult for her. Let me take some of the stress of rasing her. We can be a team for your sister and our baby."
"I don't want to push you," Teddy said.
"We have our baby and your sister," Owen said, "two kids. How ever Dani needs me I'm there. What ever you need me to do to help with her I'm there. I know we're raising a teenager. Teddy I love you. I love your compassion and that you will do anything for the people you love."
"I love you two," Teddy said, leaning against him.
"My mom wants to come to the nutcracker," Owen said.
"We have three tickets for Saturday night she's doing her other roles not Clara. Unlike the other roles better," Teddy said.
"Clara is dull but it is the lead," Owen said.
"Sugar plum and snow queen are the big roles," Teddy said.
Saturday night Owen picked Teddy up to go to the final performance of the nutcracker. She smiled when he came in in his black suit. She had found it hard to find a dress for this, many of hers were too tight across her stomach and she wasn't ready for maternity clothes yet to let her clothes tell the world.
"You look gorgeous," Owen said.
"So do you," Teddy replied, "you're staying tonight?"
"Three in a row," Owen said.
"Try for four," Teddy said.
"I'd like to," Owen agreed.
"So tonight and tomorrow night it is," Teddy said, "I think once we get to four or five every night will be easy."
"Owen, Teddy," Evelyn greeted.
"Mom," Owen said giving his mom a hug.
"Evelyn," Teddy greeted with a hug, "thank you for coming."
"I haven't seen the Nutcracker in years," Evelyn said.
"It's first cast tonight so Danika is in a bunch of roles," Teddy explained.
"Do you want to come for ice cream after," Owen offered.
"Ice cream in December," Evelyn asked.
"We always used to go after Meghan performed," Owen said, "we did it for opening night and will do it again tonight."
"We haven't done ice cream after every show that would be too much," Teddy said, "this is the third week of Nutcracker. Most night's it's home, home work, hot cocoa and bed."
"Good routines," Evelyn said, "any thoughts about the new one?"
"Other than that I need to do some shopping, nothing new," Teddy said.
"Will you find out what you're having," Evelyn asked.
"No," Teddy said, "I want the surprise."
"I want the information," Owen said.
"We'll talk at home," Teddy replied.
The auditorium lights flickered and they found their seats.
After the show Teddy signed Danika out at the stage door, she sometimes got frustrated with the strict child protection policies at the school. Danika was 15, she should be able to come to the car when Teddy had to pull her for an hour for an orthodontist appointment and go back to class on her own, but Teddy had to sign her in and out at the main office. Day students had to be signed out after performances at the stage door by a designated adult, Teddy had given permission for Owen and the Webbers to sign Danika out because she couldn't always be there herself.
"That's done," Danika said.
"Two weeks of that was a lot," Teddy agreed, "we're going for ice cream with Owen and Evelyn. Owen drove me here."
"He's staying," Danika stated.
"Yes," Teddy said, "you know we're building up to him moving in."
"Tomorrow night can we have a sister night," Danika asked.
"We can," Teddy said.
They met up with Owen and Evelyn.
"That looked good kiddo," Owen said, giving Danika a high five.
"Owen," a woman called, "you are home?"
"Beth," Owen said, "I've been back a while."
Beth went to hug Owen and he caught her arms gently guiding them back to her sides.
"Owen," Beth whined.
"You remember my girlfriend Teddy," Owen said, "I think you teach her sister Danika."
"Girlfriend," Beth asked, "but."
"We broke up over a year ago," Owen said, "we're going to go. We promised Danika a treat on the way home."
"How long," Beth asked, "have you been with her?"
"Six months," Owen replied, "Teddy looks like she want's to get going. It's been a really long two weeks of shows for Dani. we need to get our treat to celebrate the end of the Nutcracker and then we all need to go home."
"You live with them," Beth asked.
"Yes," Owen said.
"Beth it's good to see you," Teddy said standing beside Owen and taking his hand, "Owen we should get going. Dani is about to fall asleep talking to your mom. She's tired."
"We'll go," Owen agreed.
"Merry Christmas," Teddy said, turning on her heel.
"Merry Christmas," Beth replied.
They walked to Owen's truck and drove to get ice cream.
"One scoop or two Dani," Owen asked.
"Two," Dani said, "shows are done I get a treat."
"You do," Teddy smiled.
"Raspberry ripple," Danika said.
"Creamsicle," Teddy replied.
Owen looked at Teddy shocked, she usually went for something chocolaty, not fruit flavoured.
"Baby," Teddy replied.
"Okay then," Owen said before ordering the three cones and bringing them to the table.
"Will we do this for all the big shows," Danika asked.
"We can," Teddy replied, "or find our own traditions."
"I like this," Danika smiled.
"Then this is what we'll do," Teddy declared, "all three of us?"
"Three for now," Danika agreed.
"For now," Owen asked, "getting rid of me?"
"Won't there be four of us for year end recital at the end of june," Danika questioned.
"We'll see how everyone is doing it's a maybe," Teddy said, "the baby will only be three weeks old. Theres two shows for recital. I might go to one and Owen to the other so the baby can be home with one of us. Or I might be able to come to both and have Evelyn baby sit for one show for Owen to come. It just depends on how things go with the baby. We will have at least one of us in the audience for both shows. I am promising that now."
"Do we have grandparents," Danika asked.
"We did," Teddy said, "they passed away when I was your age. Why did you ask?"
"My friends all had grandparents coming and the baby gets Evelyn," Danika said.
"My mom will come to shows if we invite her," Owen said, "that's up to you. I know she cares about you. She always asks when I call her how you're doing. She quizzed me last week on favourite colours and authors."
"I read almost anything," Danika said.
"That's what I told her," Owen replied, "you like pink, teal and blue."
"You got it right," Danika smiled.
"I listen," Owen said, "and it's the colours of your room and your school supplies."
"True," Danika agreed.
Their ice cream finished the happily chatted as the walked back to the car.
