Saturday afternoon Owen and Danika went for a bike ride while Allison napped and Teddy caught up on laundry.

"Kiddo I wanted to talk to you about something," Owen said when they had their ice cream.

"What's going on," Danika asked.

"We haven't hung out all summer," Owen said.

"It's be busy," Danika said, "we've been camping when you don't work. But we haven't had a bike ride like this."

"It's fun to go with Teddy and Allison two," Owen said, "but I wanted to check in with you. Make sure you're okay."

"I'm okay," Danika said, "the grandparent thing is weird."

"That would be," Owen said, "but they want to know you."

"Grandpa mailed me more books," Danika smiled.

"Anything good," Owen asked.

"They all look good," Danika said, "there's a mystery one."

"I like mystery, can I read it when you're done," Owen asked.

"Sure," Danika said, "why are they doing that?"

"They're choosing to be part of your life," Owen said, "a lot of people are choosing you. Your auntie Jennifer, grandparents, Meghan, me."

"You're stuck with me. You didn't choose me," Danika said.

"I did," Owen said, "when I started dating Teddy I chose to be in your life two. I chose our family. I want you around. Tonight I want to take Teddy out and talk to her about our family. Can you babysit?"

"Yes," Danika said, "Teddy will let me babysit? She's only let me do like half an hour so she could go get milk and diapers."

"I'll tell her," Owen said, "you're ready."

"A couple hours," Danika asked.

"Yes," Owen agreed, "you've done it for Dr Bailey."

"Tuck is three," Danika argued.

"But your home," Owen said, "skip Allison's bath. I know you help us with it but I'd rather you didn't if we're not home."

"So play, story, bottle, change and in the crib," Danika asked.

"You can do it," Owen said, "Meghan is at Nathan's tonight if you need her and you can always call us."

"She's been there a lot and he slept over when you worked over night this week," Danika said.

"Teddy told me," Owen said.

"Can you tell him to wear clothes," Danika asked.

"I will let him know we don't walk around shirtless," Owen agreed, "Teddy told me."

"Thank you," Danika said, "it's weird."

"You're really quiet sometimes and first thing in the morning I think he probably forgot," Owen shrugged, "Riggs is a good guy."

"How do I explain them in my family essay," Danika asked.

"Your not writing that," Owen said, "you can do the about my summer again or your own topic. Teddy or I will email. School doesn't start for a week."

"They want a writing piece the first day," Danika said, "honors classes now then APs next year."

"Only AP math, anatomy and English " Owen said, "that's all the school offers."

"Will Teddy let me babysit," Danika asked, "I've been begging all summer and she keeps saying no."

"I've got it," Owen said, "should we head back?"

They rode back and Owen found Teddy in the back yard with Allison asleep in the baby swing. Owen leaned over the back of Teddy's chair and kissed the top of her head, "you and me date night no kids."

"How," Teddy asked, "Meghan is out and your mom is away we need a babysitter."

"Danika," Owen said, "you and I date night. Dinner."

"Are you sure," Teddy asked, "have we even asked Danika?"

"I did," Owen said, "she's been begging to babysit and we said it was time for her to have more responsibility. It's a couple hours for us to go to dinner. Plus I already have reservations."

"Reservations this is fancy," Teddy said, "I'm going to need time to get ready."

"The reservation is for 7," Owen said, "we should leave at 6:30."

"Can you watch her so I can get ready," Teddy asked, "it's already 5."

"Always," Owen said.

Teddy walked up stairs and found Danika in the window seat on the landing reading.

"Owen asked you to babysit," Teddy commented.

"I wasn't to I've been waiting all summer for you to ask," Danika said.

"You know her routine," Teddy questioned.

"I see it every night and I know how to warm up her bottle," Danika replied.

"Do you want to," Teddy asked.

"I do," Danika said, "Em babysits her siblings all the time."

"Do this well and I know of a few people at work that are looking for babysitters," Teddy said, "you're good with Allison."

"I want to try, I can call you, Owen or Evelyn if I need help," Danika said.

"Meghan and Nathan are working but will answer if they're not in the OR," Teddy said, "you know the list of people to call."

"I do,' Danika said, "what are you wearing?"

"Come help me choose," Teddy asked.

"A dress you never wear dresses anymore," Danika said.

"I don't know if my dresses fit," Teddy said.

"Why," Danika asked.

"Because of Allison," Teddy said, "but I'll try a couple on."

Teddy opened her side of the closet.

"The green one," Danika pointed.

"I've never worn that," Teddy said.

"Try it on," Danika said, "it's pretty."

"I really liked it so I bought it but never had a chance to wear it," Teddy said.

"It's pretty," Danika repeated.

"Hair," Teddy asked.

"Down you've had it up a lot lately," Danika said.

"Okay I'll try on the dress you need to do the zipper," Teddy said.

Teddy tried on the dress.

"It's loose," Teddy said.

"I haven't zipped it yet," Danika replied.

"It fits," Teddy smiled once Danika did up the zipper, "unzip me. I'm going to go shower and get ready."

Just before 6:30 Teddy came out of their room and found Owen waiting in dress pants, shirt and tie by the kitchen island.

"You look beautiful," Owen said taking Teddy's hand.

"I'll say good bye to the girls then we can go," Teddy smiled.

"Of course," Owen said.

Teddy gave Allison a hug and kiss and went through the emergency numbers with Danika again.

"Pizza money on the counter kiddo," Owen said.

Teddy looked at Owen who shrugged, "she should get a treat two."

"This time," Teddy said.

"I can order myself I'm good," Danika said, "Owen's had me order the last few times we've had take out."

"Ordering take out is a life skill," Owen chuckled.

"Sure it is," Teddy laughed.

"We're going call if you need us," Owen said.

"I will," Danika smiled, "have fun."

They walked out the door and Owen opened the truck door for Teddy and helped her in.

"So chivalrous tonight," Teddy teased.

"I have my moments," Owen commented.

Hearing the truck pull away Danika lifted Allison out of the swing and carried the baby to the back yard.

"Should we play outside," Danika asked, "do you want to go on the swing?"

Allison babbled.

"I'll call it a yes," Danika said, "don't tell Teddy. We're not allowed to do this."

Allison giggled as Danika swayed back and forth on the swing with her niece in her lap. Danika wondered if this was what having a little sister was like? She would never get a little sibling but she had a niece. Danika was proud that Owen and Teddy were trusting her to babysit.

"Allison that stinks," Danika giggled, "if it's another poop tsunami I might be calling Teddy and Owen because those are nasty."

Danika carried Allison inside and upstairs to find out that it was only a regular dirty diaper.

"Should we play for a bit," Danika asked.

She carried Allison downstairs and laid her on her tummy. Danika took a couple books out of the baby's book basket. Danika read a few books to the baby.

"Why are you making that face," Danika asked, "I know I'm not Teddy your mommy and daddy went out. They trust us to be home alone. It's the first time and I can't let my sister down not after everything your mom's done for me. How do you get cuter every day? Are you smiling at auntie Danika? Yes I love you too. I know it's probably weird for you to share your mommy and daddy with me. But she was my big sister first. When you get a bit bigger I can do all the things I remember your mom doing with me with you. We can go to the zoo and get ice cream and maybe I can put mascara on you when your dad isn't looking. One time my dad took me to New York to see your mom and we were going to see a play called Annie. My dad your grandpa had meetings all day and was going to meet Teddy and I for the play. Your mom treated me like a little doll I was 5, she curled my hair and put some of her make up on me. My dad wasn't happy she put make up on me."

Danika took her phone off the coffee table and ordered her pizza seeing the baby was happy.

Danika kept playing with Allison and talking to her.

At the restaurant Owen and Teddy sat sipping wine waiting for their meals.

"We've never done this," Teddy commented.

"When you meet in a war zone," Owen joked.

"Two kids," Teddy added.

"It's what we wanted," Owen said, "what we would day dream about."

"It is," Teddy agreed, "you always said you wanted three or four kids. Let Allison get bigger and I could see one more."

"Three," Owen said.

"Dani and our two," Teddy suggested.

"Is that what you want," Owen asked.

"Our family," Teddy smiled, "Owen I'm happy ridiculously happy. Are you happy?"

"Happier than I knew was possible," Owen said.

"Just so you know I will never be a stay at home mom," Teddy said.

"I know you wouldn't be happy with that," Owen said.

"I come back when Danika goes back to school," Teddy said, "I could have gone back next week but the extra week of summer with the girls sounded good."

"I'm off most of the week," Owen said, "one more camping trip."

"One more," Teddy said, "I like it."

"We all do," Owen agreed.

"We'll need more books first," Teddy sighed.

"She'll have to call James for more recommendations," Owen said.

"Thats going okay," Teddy nodded, "I was so worried we would lose her."

"So was I," Owen agreed, "I don't know how you would have handled it."

"I wouldn't have," Teddy admitted.

Their meals arrived and they made small talk. After desert glasses of champagne arrived.

"Owen," Teddy asked.

Owen got out of his chair and on one knee beside Teddy's chair.

"Teddy," Owen said, "Theodora Grace Altman. You make me the happiest I have ever been, happier than I thought was possible. Teddy, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you and have loved you since we met. I will always love you. Theodora Grace will you marry me?"

"Yes," Teddy shouted, "Owen Yes!"

Owen slipped the ring on her finger and they both stood kissing passionately. The whole restaurant burst into applause.

"Owen," Teddy whispered into his ear, "I love you so much."

They toasted each other with their champagne and drove home.

They burst through the front door ready to tell their family.

"How was your night," Teddy asked interrupting Danika's reading.

"Good," Danika said, "she's in her crib. How was your date?"

"We have exciting news," Teddy beamed.

"What," Danika asked.

"Owen asked me to marry him," Teddy began.

"And she said yes," Owen said.

Danika looked stunned.

"We're going to get married," Teddy said.

"Yay," Danika yelled hugging Teddy, "when do you get married?"

"We don't know," Teddy said, "we have to tell Evelyn and Meghan when she gets home."

"Meghan is home," Meghan said coming though the door.

"Owen proposed," Teddy yelled.

"And she said yes," Owen said.

"Oh My God, Oh My God," Meghan yelled, "I'm so happy. Were having a wedding!"

"We're having a wedding," Teddy said.

"When," Meghan asked.

"Second person to ask us that it happened an hour ago," Teddy said.

"Ring," Meghan demanded.

Teddy showed Meghan the ring, "he said it was your grandmas then your moms."

"It's the Hunt ring," Meghan said, "it should be yours. The teenager still looks confused."

"You okay kiddo," Owen asked.

"This is good," Danika said.

"It is," Owen said.

Teddy sat beside Danika, "nothing is changing. You will still live here with us this is our family. All that changes is that Owen and I will be married instead of dating. Dani, this is the next step for Owen and I for our family. I want this. This is really good. I'm happy. You are safe and you are home. "

"We're all staying," Danika said.

"We're all staying," Teddy said, "Owen is here for good."

"Do we get a big party for your wedding," Danika asked.

"We do," Teddy said, "I want a wedding."

"What will we tell people this weekend," Owen asked.

"That we're engaged," Teddy smiled, "and introduce the guys to our daughter."

"Does any one know," Owen asked.

"I told Helen about Allison, we email," Teddy said, "I send her a few of the camping pictures just the four of us."

"She gossiped," Meghan groaned everyone knows now.

"One wedding decision made," Teddy said, "Meg, Dani will you be my bridesmaids?"

"Yes," Danika said, "I want to."

"I'm in," Meghan shouted, "a wedding and a baby this is exciting!"

"It is," Danika agreed.

"Kiddo come help me with something," Meghan said walking towards the den.

Danika followed.

"Give the love birds some space," Meghan whispered, "you and I are going to watch a movie in my room."

Seeing that they were alone Owen and Teddy tip-toed upstairs and got ready for bed.
